  • you just played my college years :-)

  • what about the thomas the tank engine original theme song? that also sounds like the Linn-Lm 1 is being used in it

  • The linn drum has such an amazing and nostalgic sound! i use it on my songs 'Purple Octopus' and 'Repulsion'! check them out!

  • Love it!

  • Actually it's the Linn LM-1, not the Linn Drum. Most of the sounds are close, but sounds a tad bit different.

  • So many artists used the Linn LM-1!! Some of it sounded a wee bit different, but great job!

  • That Wham is dead on man! Need to slow Prince down though.. ;) Great job!

  • I knew you were going to go into Maniac from the cowbell and clap rolls! Scary, huh?

  • Please share .mp3 loop please :D

I'm love all about 80s beat

  • How fun! Where did you get all those great samples?

  • is thriller by electribe?

  • Amazing job! But where do you get these Linndrum samples for the Electribe?

  • I've enjoyed your series. I had no idea idea that a lot of these songs had linnDrum on it. Fantastic!

  • I've enjoyed your series.

  • Augh the memories.....You are the man Harlemnights. Thanks for sharing this awesome video wtih us. Your programming skills are impeccable! :)

  • hey i dont quite understand how you put in the samples and can you just get the samples from some kind of website?

  • I'd KILL somebody to have an LM-1! Seriously, why was it limited to only 500 units?

  • 5:15 Sorry, I mean "Take On Me"

  • @aaronfromhastings Nope, "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar

  • 5:15 The Sun Always Shines On TV?

  • I think this god-awful contraption (or whoever invented it) is responsible for all the f****ing awful music we had in the 1980s. I can't believe anyone would want to reproduce it but then it makes a change from sampling (stealing) from old music, which seems so popular today.

  • @nialldcrowley Opinions are like assholes...

  • @rarteaga At least I've got some (opinions) and don't resort to insults. And there's a big difference between informed, considered opinion based on knowledge and experience, and simply 'shouting your mouth off'.

  • @nialldcrowley That wasn't an insult it was a comment. You should learn how to read. (That WAS an insult!) You poor bastard so sorry you hate your life. (That was ALSO an insult)

  • Speechless. Wow. Awesome.

  • hey guys

how do you load sthe samples you have on your computer of drums sounds like the linn and dmx onto this elecribe?? if you can tell me that would be cool :)

  • I listen and listen and re-listen every video you post !!!! i love maniac maichael sambello !!

  • I listen and listen and re-listen every video you post !!!!

  • does this thing have the linn samples built in or did you have to sample it yourself??

  • can u tell me if these sounds are all included in the MOTU BPM 1.5 (anthology) software?

  • Geat work man!!!

  • Do Harold Faltermeyer Axel-F

  • this vid made me plug it in again ;)

  • Could you please do "Say You Really Want Me" by Kim Wilde?

  • Amazing drum programming. You are the master! Mad skills!

  • Where did you find the samples?

  • maniac was spot on.

  • yaaaaaaawwwwwn!

  • Awesome! People tend to forget how used this was in 1980's music. They only think about the TR 808. Well this definitely hands down would be second in line to the TR 808 for the most used in the 1980's. Many of its sounds were used almost as much as the 808. :)

  • was this used with "wanna be startin something"?

  • @korgpadude Yes it was.

  • What's your cute little sampler there?

  • High ten for the recreation of "Maniac"s drum part: is perfect. Plus, your Korg Electribe is a gorgoeous toy =) greetings and keep it up

  • Not bad although "Maneater" sounded more like Part Time Lover.

  • do prince 1999

  • @jaggass - that's in part 3 thx

  • lol michael sembello maniac good one with thriller

  • This was great! I deffinately plan on checking out your other videos... Maniac... That killed me! Great job on this.

  • how do you get those synthdrum snare/toms? sounds like a simmons sds

  • That is so cool! I love those sounds. I use a sample library for Kontakt called Nostalgia. It has pretty much every drum machine from the 80's, ton's of keyboards with all the presets from hits back then. You can get lost just browing thru it. It's astonishing the kind of studio power that lives in a personal computer these days. Something tells me all these sounds are going to come 'round again :)

  • No Blue Monday?

  • @tripbrother / That's Oberheim DMX, it's in the central film on my channel

  • Verry nice vid!I really love the vintage sounds!!

  • I have just purchased a mint unit (Korg ES1 MkII) on the second hand market. Had one on my "wants list" for some time. It is winding its way towards me, should be here tomorrow. I noticed you can buy a sample CD online that contains many classic 70s/80s drum/rythem machines, including the LinnDrum.

  • Excellant work again on the programming. Damn, I so wanted to hear the Art Of Noise drum pattern for Beat Box in amoungst that impressive list.

  • nice Linn Drum pack

  • where did you get the sample sounds?

  • A trip down memory lane. Thanks for taking the time to put this up.

  • Very nice but you are recreating some LM-1 patterns as well as LM-2 patterns, so the samples don't always match... off the top off my head, Don't You Want Me and the two MJ songs are both LM-1 so they don't quite sound right here.

  • blah. my drum samples always suck.

  • Ha nice work - can close your eyes and play 'name that tune'

  • Hi,where did you get all your drum samples from?

  • Awesome. Love 1:29 That's bad ass

  • Awesome demo!

  • awesomo!!! Love the 80s!

  • OMG LOL TTYL ::)

  • nice job, "maniac" was dead on.. i have a linn drum and do this myself all the time

  • can u do planet rock on that thing

  • That was a TR-808, I've put that in another film :-)

  • @djcountry1985 ANOTHER INTERNET IGNORAMUS! Don't know all that much, do ya?

  • @djcountry1985 hmmmmm planet rock on a linndrum. *vomit*

  • thought this would be corny but actually quite nice..

  • Beatiful.......I have the original ES-1 with the green/silver faceplate.

I love the linn drum sounds, and you did a great job programming those drum beats.

  • wow great programming.

Some pieces were awesome and very solid and retro sounding.

  • Ace, "Mary Jane Girls-All Night Long" That was a Linn too wasnt it?? You need to upload the drums for that lol think i'll get my MPC out and play some..

  • That was an Oberheim DX I'm sure, thanks for the suggestion

Doing a vid of that later :-)

  • is this from different Linn drum machines? or a specific one? if so,what model of Linn drum machine did you use?

  • Tx for responding, I used LM1, LM2, 9000

  • cool cool.i checked my library a while ago and i have these samples.

But i cant map my patterns as well as these hit you are playing here! more practice should do it.

  • nice vid!!!! very very cool.i enjoyed every second of this.i am fascinated with loading old drum sounds into the korg samplers.

  • Exellent work !! I can swear i can hear the groove groove of the linndrum. Did you use any external effects ? This sounds so fat ! 5 Stars and subscribed !!

  • Can you put the samples which you used for this demo into a rar archive, and upload it to me or to a filedatabase. Please, maybe i can do a favour for you too ?

  • Amazing ! Please,Please send me the samples ? Where is the reverb comig from ?

  • Many thanks! The reverb is internal on the ES1

Best to select from several Linndrum sample sets, as they all sound different

  • great video, informative. so I guess the question is, would you buy a linndrum? any idea on how different the workflows/interfaces are? I mean, aesthetically, it'd be tight to have a linndrum if you're looking for that sound, but...
