I just moved back to Illinois so I missed the cut-off for voter registration. Luckily, I was able to use the grace period and register and actually cast my vote today, October 8, at the county clerk's office.

The Diebold machine I used had all my selections printed on a receipt, kept internally, which I could check thru a window before pressing the final vote button.

I don't see this type of machine being susceptible to hacking, due to the paper trail. Seemed legit.

They didn't manipulate the machine, they manipulated the tally card. This card, according to Diebold, contains no program code, but the test proves it does, and how easily and untracably it can be manipulated. This was also done in response to a precinct showing -16,000 votes for Kerry (yes, that's a "negative" vote count, not a hyphen). That's evidence that Jeb's brother benefited from vote hacking before the test was done, and he doesn't want it uncovered.

I love how Fox tries to spin the story as to suggest Republican politicians are "taking the high road" protesting the testing because it did not take place "publicly". So by that logic, if "private" testing shows that the system is *NOT* secure, then the testers may have rigged the test to fail for some nefarious reason that only Fox viewers could dream up.
