quick question, does this work with osx lion and logic pro 9? is there any installing required or is it simply just plug and play. will my iMac and logic pro just recognise it? please reply man i am thinking about copping on of these.
Ahhh so i'm not the only one who realizes that recording music in a car is an awesome idea!!! I love it....i drive to the beach and bring my laptop rig and guitar....its awesome lol
Question about the removal of the CC button: Could nanokey2 still be used as a midi controller? Hoping to use the nanokey2 as a basic midi controller for Ableton.
Good quality vid, very in-depth (thanks!). I've been recording for many years, but I'm a MIDI n00b, and this looks like a great entry-level controller, especially since it's only about $50. I'm getting one on Tuesday. Seriously dude, thanks for making this vid, I've been looking for a good demo of this keyboard, and yours is the first one that I've found to be satisfactory.
I Just received mine today. Your're right. Much more improved. Thanks for this review. It definitely was the a major factor in my decision to give Korg a 2nd chance. Otherwise I was going to Akai for the LPK...
Kudos for having a proper nanoKey2 review, when Korg makes a hour long review of something that most people will not even have money/don't wantt to buy (Kronos)
I quite like the Korg MicroKEY. It's a bit bulkier than the NanoKEY, but it has real good quality mini piano keys (better than the Akai mini keyboards). I wouldn't recommend it for percussion or sample triggering, though. Kind of wish they'd make a three-octave NanoKey with rubber pads, as an allround tool.
ive had the Akai LPK. its garbage.remeinds me of the playskool keyboard i had as a kid.the "arp" feature is useless -unless you have fruity loops 4 or some primitive daw- .not to mention its bulky and ugly. the korg nanokey was great but durability was an issue and sometimes the thing would stop working entirely. after my 4th nanokey i ended buying the new Oxygen 25. I hope the nanokey2 is legit.
i was looking for a nanokey2 video some times ago but couldn't find any, i finally settled for a korg microkey which i don't regret but it would have been nice to at least find a video or a review for the nanokey2 :P thanks for filling that void.
Thanks man. You rule for spending so much time talking about this and putting it out there. It is pretty sad that a big company like Korg can't do their own video and has to depend on its users to detail their products. Luckily they have fans! Nice work. Keep it up.
@Astr0wave I have to admit that I still haven't tried it =/
If you're looking into Akai I would recommend the MPK mini or the Synthstation which are WAY more powerful. The LPK is only "set apart" from other micro controllers because of its arpeggiator; at least in my opinion.
Hey man thanks, really helpful! really annoyed I already brought the first edition :( any way its nice to FINALLY have a video up reviewing this product! thanks again!
@jeesh123 yeah I played around with my old one on Fruity Loops, too, and it was awesome. you should do fine regardless, but I have no experience with the nanopad.
@SirJordanius Ive just started using nano pad with ableton and it seems to hold up pretty well. really enjoying it. this is nano pad 1 im talking about
Just picked up AlesisQ25, but after this video, I should have got this. I'll still get it today. I love the form factor.

@EvokDubstep Sorry it didn't work out for you my friend. but fruity loops is definitely not a primitive daw!
each controller/program depends on the user. I don't need an arp button because I prefer to play them myself, but it's all preferential.

what do you think of the LPK 25 from akai?

nutshell:
I'd choose between Nanokey2 or the MPK mini.

@jeesh123 no problem!
The first generation's "CC Mode" can be pretty useful if you're a pin-point MIDI user, but the 2nd. Generation is definitely better for overall use.
