  • I have also the Tytn II running WM 6.1 and don't have any problems at all. I have tested SCLPC++ 3D cube interface that is based on OpenGL and it runs smooth. No problems with scrolling or camera function. Hence, those of you who has problems should try to upgrade the software at HTC website

  • this phone blows. i own one and im about to throw it away.

  • i think when you are yosin wifi the playbak quality is s***

but wiht normal video formats like 3GP WMV, the Tytn II rocks!!

but i might be wrong ^^

  • before I took my TyTN II into the dentists office the other day it was working fine then when I was in the office I forgot to turn it off and now my phone isn't acting rite, txt message buttons won't work and the entire system is slowed down even if I soft reset or reset mainly, anybody have any idea what i can do cuz im so pissed right now????

  • I think there might be a problem with my Tytn, I just got it yesterday but I've already noticed when watching Youtube videos the sound quality is very very poor, its fuzzy and it sounds as though the speaker is actually broke, however when i listen to music it's fine, so just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

    Thanks

  • i dont get this problem and ive got full movies on mine

  • I don't understand you people. I'm running videoclips on my ATT Tilt (TyTnII) right now and I have NO LA WHATSOEVER> I don't know what kind of setups you running but I'm totally satisfied. The video is actually smoother than it was on my late Samsung SCH i730. Believe me or not. My 2 cents.

  • Yeah, like i said before my phone plays videos fine, even flash video's that are well above 640 by 480. Not just in tcpmp (the free version of coreplayer) but wmv's on windows media player.

Btw the camera and video recorder problem is solved by putting the phone into sleep mode for a few seconds and waking it up again.

  • what kind of a lier you are???

this is the vga screen resolution you can tell by seeing the the fonts shape..and tytn is a Qvga..the video is compeletly fake!!

  • i think its qvga..

  • dude good call its all perfect capture of the os playing video did he do this on an emulator?

  • LAGGS LIKE HELL!!!

  • This is a problem the HTC know about.

what you can do about it, is download this player.

    Coreplayer.

All your vids will run smooth.

Hopefully will HTC bring that desperat update of the drivers.

  • He is using CorePlayer in the video. So no, they won't run smooth?

  • with the win player i had a lot of lagging, now that i am using coreplayer it runs smoothly.

I see that this person also is using coreplayer, but i think he is doing something wrong.

All my friends with the Tytn II and coreplayer do not have these problems.

  • Changing the video settings to Raw Framebuffer usually fixes lag problems like this. The only issue I have is on my TyTN II i cannot play MKV videos without lag no matter what my settings are.

  • I'm sorry, the "well you shouldn't use those features" defense doesn't cut it. If you spent the money for a ferrari, but it would only go to 60 mph, it doesn't matter if some of you are satisfied with that; the device is still broken.

  • Yes, the video playback works very fine on the tytn.

  • I must say I am very disappointed with the video playback and HTC's unwillingness to provide (or acknowledge) a fix. I have found thought that using pocketdivxencoder to resize/resample my vids will at least make them watchable.

  • WEll i have a htc tytn 2 and it plays video's fine on mine. And i use tcpmp and media player, i wonder if there is something wrong with your file or app, there is definatly no problem with the phone.

  • Was seriously considering this as my next phone before I found your video, and reading the comments I think I'll go with the N95

  • the HTC touch is awsome. I can watch 480 * 368 80kbps videos on full speed with Coreplayer, It looks awsome. Its all about converting videos to the right configuration. for video settings I use QTv display, Video quality is on High, and smoothzoom is turned on. Its fast, no lack and great experience since 480*368 is bigger then th escreen of my phone, the movie looks sharper and more details are visible.

  • this is just one of several issues, the performance problem related to anything that's on screen (browsing the internet, running TomTom, playing games, watching video, general windows usage etc.) it affect every aspect of the device

(And besides who said video playback can't be business oriented?)

  • Where did you hear any of that? the video player is fine and there is no problem with windows mobile.

Browsing the internet? My htc tytn 2 does a great job of browsing the internet much better than a n95 or SE phone.

I know people that have the phone and run tom tom! And it does not have a problem with the webraska sat nav app lol.

  • OMFG! That is awfull.

Not even my previous Prophet was that slow, and we are talking about an OMAP 850.

My current P535 also plays all Xvid (even >640x680) flawlessly.

It's shameful what HTC is doing. I can understand the frustration of the ones who bought this devices. I was also interested in it because of the specs. How could anyone guess that it would be slower than a Prophet?!

Given the answer HTC gave to you, I will never buy a phone from HTC ever again.

  • class action! HTC boycott!

  • Its obviously going to be slower still if this is through some remote control recording application like Soti Pocket Controler. Wouldn't it more more fair to have a video of actual device playing a video?

  • Yup, it does slow down the framerate (i'd say about 20% slower or so) but as you clearly can see in this video this is not an issue of getting 24 instead of 30 fps. It's rather about getting any fps at all.

  • It's outragous if they don't write an updated driver for such an expensive device. How can they decide to use a chip that they're not going to fully support?

The TyTyn II would have been my first choice if this would be improved. Now I'm not sure anymore!

  • I love my Tilt, but I hate the video performance, too. Hope HTC fixes this!

  • You are correct in saying that the TYTN2 can't play this video with directdraw, but use GDI in TCMP and it should play ok, I've watched documentaries and films on my kaiser and it's good. Still think they should have done the drivers though, for the camera and those who want to do games.

  • I've used GDI and Raw Frame Buffer as well, while it's better it's still not good. (Leaving one with the option to reencode the files.)

Still the point is moot since many players don't have an option but rather use DirectDraw by default. Also using GDI isn't really an option for gaming. So the problem is still there and we still need proper drivers for GDI, GAPI, Direct3D Mobile, Open GL ES and so forth.

  • maaaaaan!! need to campaign to get them to release an update =D

  • it sucks that a phone that costs a fortune has a 10 cents worth video drivers! If I only knew this before I bought my Kaiser : (

  • Poor video performance on HTC TyTN II due to the lack of hardware acceleration through any generic interface (such as DirectDraw) is VERY evident when watching a full sized video clip such as this (XviD at a fairly low bitrate at 512x384 with MP3 sound.
