Reporter: Michael, you okay to go on? You're obviously very emotional about this. Why does mean so much to you?
Michael: Ask me another question please.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! HOW ABSOLUTELY OBTUSE AND RUDE WAS THIS REPORTER? My Lord, man. I would be willing to wager that Michael Schumacher would have been willing to give all his wins back if it would mean Senna hadn't died. Could they not have taken a break?
@Arkansis Exactly, this is Mika being him. Michaels brother is on the other side, but he is doing nothing but hiding himself (well it is his bigbrother who smallbrothers usually look as well as something of a stronger one) Mika raises his hand and points the cameras to him to protect his biggest rival in the sports, put then he comes to find he does not have anything to say. Well, smalltalk is not something that is taught in Finnish schools.
This emotional breakdown on Michael's part is totally justified... Keep in mind he was on that same top step of the podium when Senna died on that same circuit in '94... As was Mika! All in all, the journalist, even if he's just doing his job, is still an insensible douche... A moment of silence would have been appropriate in rememberance; that would have reinforced this as being the best tribute to Senna in conjunction to Michael's tears...
Thats so rude how the reporter pushed through the interview. Forget being professional what about being a human and stepping in saying we are done for today.
0:52 Ralf's reaction is like WTF??!! Then, yeah he realizes Senna actually crashed in front of Schumacher. It all makes honest sense, we can really understand MS's break down.
I think the reporter did his job very well. When Schu became overcome with emotion he began asking the others questions, but it still allowed F1 fans to share an emotional moment with the drivers.
I can't believe this interview continued after Schumacher broke down and to ask why it meant so much to him.....what an unbelievably dumb/unthinking question to ask. Michael was right behind Senna when he died of course this achievement made him so emotional.
Come on guys, you can be pissed, but looking at the facts :
- Michael shouldn't be that emotional on a live press conference...
- Mika and Ralf BOTH tried to avoid it, but like said, the reporter had to keep te live session going, because the world was watching.
Even though i'm not a fan of M. Schumacher, i won't bash him for this, he just went emotional, it WAS a mistake for a pro F1 driver, but hey, it could happen everyone...
@EHVMichael WHAT THE FUCK MAN? GETTING EMOTIONAL IS A MISTAKE? LOL! I WILL KILL YOUR FRIEND AND THEN I'D RECORD IT AND THEN I'D LIKE TO SEE IF YOU WOULD HOLD IT AND NOT BEING EMOTIONAL. SCREW THE PRESS
Who would want to behind the guy who was a legend and see them die. Then equal their wins tally is just 2 much to filter. Classic moment by Mika Hakkinen and Ralf was showing that brothers, although rivals show that they still close. Still Ayeton Senna is a GREAT fucking legend. RIP senna. Cry in peace Schumacher
Yeah I just watched the video of the sae two guys,Mika and Michael, on the podium following Sennas death in the Immola race. Its obviously a painful memory for Michael with emotions running high.
Sometimes you just don't cry right away, when something bad happens you are often too shocked to express any feelings. It's too unreal at that moment and it all comes back to mind and overwhelmes you later. On this day, 6 years after that horrible event where Senna and Ratzenberger died in crashes they are back in italy and both Michael and Mikka are again on the podium. It's like a deja vu for them and there is no reason to doubt the emotions. That's pointless and stupid.
@darkappentice71 the reason why we all think the reporter is a tosser is because the day Senna died , Schumacher won the race. Then he asks him during this race he equaled Senna´s recored. For once Schumacher is human .. I for once feel for the guy
i think you could cut the interviewer a little slack for mentioning the equal victorie because he didnt know schumi would start crying, but the took it to far asking him why it meant so much.
unbelievable , how you can ask this question to one of these drivers who was behind senna when this horrible crash happened and actually after this horrible crash in monza ? this report have no flair. i think in this moment the robot schumacher became to humanly schumacher .
...Remember a commisary died on that GP ..in an accident caused by Schumacher...he learned that just before the interview...and when the journalist talked about senna's record that was too much for him...
@viragefoch Well what I've read Schumi didnt know about that until AFTER this interview....in my understanding he just cried, because first of all he had some difficult races before this, there was lot of pressure to get succesful result, especially at the front of all the Ferrari fans...and with this win all that pressure bursted out, especially when he had the same amount of wins as Senna.
@djthornly Nah, Michael Schummi Schumacher has BIPOLAR EFFECTIVE DISORDER, for life, hence the tears. There is no cure for that unfortunate condition, I was born with it you see?!!
@GauravLADWAL Not exactly. If you followed that season you know, that Schumacher was under extreme pressure by that time. Some very hard weeks laid behind him. Like he said at the beginning of the press conference, he felt pretty exhausted. The question about Senna and equalizing his record was then the last trigger to cause some kind of mental breakdown. It was so remarkable because most people thought Schumacher simply couldnt ever show such emotions.
Mika and Schumacher: not rivals that hated eachother, but rivals that were friends and had extreme respect for eachother. I wish drivers of today were more like that, most people in F1 nowadays just fling shit at eachother
Its easy to tell Schumacher knew that question was coming and didn't want to answer it. Also, for those who criticize Ralf, I don't think any man, no matter what age they are, can properly handle their older brother bursting into tears without any warning.
he saw senna dieing in front of him and he didnt realised that senna is dead untill after the race...and all those things came up at these interview...f1 drivers are like a big family...so he cryies because he saw one of his brothers dieng....probably his thought is that he pushed senna to hard to get a chance to overtake him in this race...we dont know..but its sad..
@RafLovesMary probably, they didn't know that at the moment of the press conference,so I also think the cause of his emotion was reaching the Senna's victory record. Michael is also human. Those were good days for F1. We need more of this and less of that shitty manufacturers and FIA politics.
@HabboCT senna was one of his closest friends, and possebly his icon, as many of us think senna is... so having the same amount of vics, yeah thats ... amazing at least
Just think of the number of victories Senna would have today...I would say that he would have gotten another championship before retiring. I miss watching Senna race, even 17 years later. He was my 1st favorite driver.
I'm feeling sorry for everyone there, Micheal is crying, the journalist is forced to continue asking questions, while the other 2 drivers just have to sit there.
@Laceyktm He has already stated that all he was ever told on the podium was that Senna was in a comma, which didn't necessarily mean death. He said that he refused to accept Senna's death until 2 weeks later. So when you see him talking he isn't in the state of mind that Senna was dead...just very badly injured. Also, they didn't celebrate, hell, they didn't even finish the national anthems or spray champaign...they just went through the motions very non sealant.
@Trancemastaa Ralf did nothing wrong... he was comforting his brother for most of that so he's not a dick, and the reporter was just doing his job he can't just stop in a press conference, if it was just an interview that wasn't live then I'm sure he wouldn't have carried on.
@Trancemastaa Dude, why would Ralf be an asshole?? He just answered the question that the reporter was asking. Atleast he had said something for the two guys beside him. It would be ashame seeing 3 drivers cry?? Isn't?
At 0:59 he's actually pointing that the camera man should move to Mika, because he saw that Michael wasnt able to continue.. Must've been a rough situation. All the drivers can only sit there, and the press cant stop the interview because its their job. :s
hakkinen and schumacher were both on the podium that day at imola when senna died, and schumacher was directly behind ayrton when he wrecked. neither were aware of the fact that he had passed until much later, so this must have been a very emotional day for the both of them
@Azonicable Then there would be absolutely no point to have the constructor's championship. Design in a car is what makes a team great as well. If everyone was in the same car, it wouldn't be much different from Nascar and that is indeed a bad thing.
@shinhawk from that angle yes, but if u really think about it, u can see that vettel can drive, cause hes alwayse on the top three, otherwise than webber.
and u can compare alonso to massa, but u cant really compare alonso to vettel... :p
And generally, its quite funny, if you look at the two drivers, that are not speeking at the moment in press conferences, what expressions they make and so on. Probably, they always have to correct something after being under this high g- forces for so long time XD
im english but schumacher is a fuckimg legend trouble is i remember this like yesterday what the fuck think my dream of being a racing driver is over now i have it the 30's. raceing fucking fiat pandas would have done me just to get that rush
yes fuck i miss the old formel 1 it wil be cool to have old fomel 1 on dvd i cant remember how prost and senna drive i miss the 2 driver and mika and damon hill
12 years ago F1 was so, so good. It had all the characters that unfortuanately we will never see again. And this is so funny, look at Ralph Schumachers reaction!! Haha he doesn't have a clue what to do!
'you are obviously very emotional about this, why does this mean so much to you?' - that actually made me cringe. what sort of fuck tard idiot would ask that?
@punicaification Really? when championships were won with 4/5 races left. Where qualifying was an hour in which no one did anything until the last 20 minutes. I loved Formula 1 then but it's far easier to explain to my friends why I watch it now.

TheQaziAhmed 11 months ago
seriously... Mika's the one comforting michael and even asked for a break.. ralf's like "Wow, what a pussy" ... for god's sake that your brother man.
Haippitus 11 months ago 5
@Haippitus
At 0:59 he's actually pointing that the camera man should move to Mika, because he saw that Michael wasnt able to continue.. Must've been a rough situation. All the drivers can only sit there, and the press cant stop the interview because its their job. :s

hakkinen and schumacher were both on the podium that day at imola when senna died, and schumacher was directly behind ayrton when he wrecked. neither were aware of the fact that he had passed until much later, so this must have been a very emotional day for the both of them

formula sucks nowadays... the cars have so much differences...
i think all the drivers should be put in a equally excactly the same car, and see who really can drive.
Azonicable 1 year ago
@Azonicable Then there would be absolutely no point to have the constructor's championship. Design in a car is what makes a team great as well. If everyone was in the same car, it wouldn't be much different from Nascar and that is indeed a bad thing.
shinhawk 11 months ago
@shinhawk from that angle yes, but if u really think about it, u can see that vettel can drive, cause hes alwayse on the top three, otherwise than webber.
and u can compare alonso to massa, but u cant really compare alonso to vettel... :p

Ralf between 0:35 and 0:40 XDXDXD
And generally, its quite funny, if you look at the two drivers, that are not speeking at the moment in press conferences, what expressions they make and so on. Probably, they always have to correct something after being under this high g- forces for so long time XD

Hahha! Häkkinen got great english! xD Very emotional, it's sad that F1 isn't like this anymore.
YoLpIsBest 1 year ago 2
Funny, how Mika points to Ralf even at the beginning at 0:55 and it of course had no effect so early xD

@ozscorpio7 There's absolutely no camaraderie between opponents nowadays. The podiums now are absolutely lame.

Hakkinen was really under Schumacher's skin... As well as all the pilots who beat him to the championship, Hill, Villeneuve, Alonso.
And the 7 times champion couldn't have done it without Crazy Eddie and Rubby doing all the dirty work

12 years ago F1 was so, so good. It had all the characters that unfortuanately we will never see again. And this is so funny, look at Ralph Schumachers reaction!! Haha he doesn't have a clue what to do!

'you are obviously very emotional about this, why does this mean so much to you?' - that actually made me cringe. what sort of fuck tard idiot would ask that?
slidel211288 1 year ago 9
Wow! The reporter is such a dick! Asking Shumacher why he got so emotional when mentioning Senna!

Funny how his rival comforts him, and his brother looks at him awkwardly.

"Excuse me - can you repeat the question?"
"Do you believe that Michael had the faster car?"

@punicaification Me too! ^^
reini19 1 year ago
@punicaification Really? when championships were won with 4/5 races left. Where qualifying was an hour in which no one did anything until the last 20 minutes. I loved Formula 1 then but it's far easier to explain to my friends why I watch it now.
