I was in Indonesia in 2003-2005 and the TV or Radio or everywhere is playing this song! this song stuck in my head for a long time but I never understand the meaning, Thank you for posting it now I know:) I really like this song and also Bintan di suga, Peterpan really has a great voice, bring back many great memories:) Thank you:)

Your translation is too literal (word for word), but I really appreciate it. I know it's very difficult to translate Peterpan's songs (or any other Indonesian songs) as they often use poetic language.

Indeed I "translated" instead of "interpreted". If you ask two Indonesians to interprete this song, you'll obtain at least two versions, could be more, but if you ask them to translate, you'll have more or less similar outcomes. That's why though I have my own interpretation of this song, I leave it for myself. What I did was translating it sentence by sentence (if it's not possible, word by word) and let the viewers interpret themselves. That'd even make the work of art more beautiful...
