  • "I'm drowning!" I was about to say that when I hear this music.

  • The NES Pac-Mania is the only port that actually got the ghost AI correct but they had to ruin it by making the speeds all wrong after level 4, Sue being the only threat on later levels because the other ghosts go at snail pace. The graphics are good and the music is accurate so if they just got the ghosts/Pac-Man speed right it would have been the perfect port.

As I said though they did get the AI right unlike the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST so that's good.

  • This is a sick port.

  • ÓMG!!! teh 3D !!!

  • Looks incredible for 1987...you would suspect this type of game (isometric graphics and all) to have been released around 1990-1992. Or for the later 16-bit systems. Tengen did an especially good job with this port, but it could have looked better should they have waited a few years when the hardware was fully unlocked and developed.

  • Well if you can jump its not fair for blinky, inky, pinky and clyde

  • I have this for the PS2!

  • i have that game, its so fun but too easy. instead of trying to avoid the ghosts, you can just jump over them

  • Wait... in Pac-Mania he could JUMP?! *goes out and gets rom*

  • Have this for GBA!!! they re-did it.

  • @MrGoomba909 This game is originally for arcade.. Same arcade graphics in the GBA version, the only difference is that the music is shortened.

  • @iHavezMyBirdo I always used to play this game for hours on end... untill I "lost" my Gameboy. I just never thought it would be on a 8 bit system. I thought it must have been either an original for the system, or SNES. But now I know. *goes to ebay to buy NES pac-mania and re-live fun times.*

  • @MrGoomba909 Gameboy is 8-bit.

  • @Dark0Lord7 Gameboy advance. :p probably should have said that.

  • they made for nes too i only played it for gamecube

  • asctully they remade this in namcocolesme yes i spelt it wrong sorry ecxept its in 3d

  • I didn't know there was one for the nes.

  • @gootube2000 It is for NES but its unlicenced

  • @gootube2000

That's probably because it was made by Tengen. They made unlicensed games for the NES. It's a shame that such good quality games from that company weren't properly made. Oh, well.

I actually happen to own an NES Pac Mania cartridge, I went to a store called Vintage Stock and picked up a Retro Duo, Metroid, Zelda II (gold cartridge), Mega Man 2, Mega Man 3, Pin Bot, Pac Mania, Mario Paint, and Street Fighter II.

  • @estlib It's not a pirate game. Just unlicensed. Tengen (a.k.a. Atari) just lost their license to make games not even as late as 1987. Shame, since they had some damned good arcade ports.

  • lol good ol' tengen and their unscrupulous game productions.

  • I still have the NES one, but play the Game Boy Advance version.

  • i used to play this game on the Sega Genesis System back in 1991, and I used to play this in the arcades too, and LOVED this game, and the Sega Genesis version of this game was EXTREMELY close to the arcade version and I loved playing it, too. I've been looking for a site on the internet where i can play this game again, but I can't find it on the internet.Does anybody know a decent site where i can play this on the net?

  • Dude, what are you on? I have the cartridge, and imported the C64 version from England. The C64 version's very admirable for what it is (it actually surpasses even the 16-bit ports Grandslam did).

The thing is, this version gets the job done a bit better than Grandslam's conversion, given it has all the ghosts (with correct colors/facial expressions), has all of the intermissions of the arcade, has the level 27 endgame stage, and all the music with solid controls.

  • Ok, so I just played it again on the real deal. I forgot that it was missing two intermission songs from the arcade (the one for Jungly Steps and after beating Jungly Steps). Still an incredible conversion, regardless. Just wish Tengen put this kind of quality into the Genesis/MegaDrive port.

  • you can jump over enemys? cool wanna try

  • holy crud 9 ghosts!

  • Dont you have to get every little white circle to pass...

    you missed a couple...

  • The NES version isn't that bad. It's pretty complete, fun, and provides a good challenge at the later levels. One of the better translations IMO.

  • Amen to that.

  • Pac-Mania is an arcade game that Namco released in Japan in 1987 and was released in the United States one year later. Atari Games were responsible for the arcade game's distribution in America. Their console game division, Tengen, released the unlicensed NES version you're playing in this video.

  • i dont think this version is very good, if you can jump over the ghosts i doubt anyone would be stupid enough to not do it in time. its fun to be challanged in the other versions

  • I remember Pacman losing jump power until he can't if you keep on a stage for too long, and in the later stages there are ghosts which can jump too (A very well timed one can get over them though) and ones that jump even higher (Just run)

And in Pacmania, there's more ghosts. Maybe it still is a little easier, but the later stages can be as cheap as hell.

(From my experience with Pac-Man Collection on the GBA, and a almost forgotten experience of the MD version of Pacmania)

  • so easy game xDDD and slow, boring xP

  • This looks like a really bad version of the game.

  • ur shit mate

  • I need to hone my skills

  • the game is called pac-mania

  • You Rock at pac man

  • this really is horrid compared to other ports

  • For an 8-bit machine its not bad. I dobt the Commodore 64 would be better than this. Maybe the Nec PC engine could do better by a long way - dont know if this came out for that ?

  • Indeed. One can't compare this to 16-bit platforms.

  • Nope, it's not a Pirate!

  • Pac-Mania for the NES is a real game, not a pirate.

  • if u had done it wit out jumpin i might have been slightly impressed because jumping makes any game like pac-man easier

  • how the hell does pacman jump over things?

  • He can jump in Pac-Mania.

  • Piss poor man

  • No I don't think so. It was also in my Namco Muesum game.

  • omg thats so easy dude u suck

  • omg lern 2 speel
