Loved this as a kid but not half as good as 'Barbarian'. This film suffered from the studio wanting a more kid friendly PG-13 Conan,in order to make more at the box-office. Which it didn't. This film is a lesson in what not to do when making a sequel.
The funny thing is, the first movie was for the adolescent mind: all mindless action. This, the superior one of the two, is for us adults: it's part amazing action and adventure, part the bittersweet life we have all experienced.
yeah because what i find to be funny is how i think this might be where games like dungeons and dragons got started cuz the party in conan the destroyer was similar to an average party in dungeons and dragons. ie......

It's not as good as the first, but it's still loads of fun. But what we really needed is King Conan to finish it off as a trilogy! Arnie needs to come back and give us a fitting finale.
"But his biggest triumph was at the box office." Lolwhut? Talk about breaking the 4th wall... Great trailer anyway. Am I the only one finding Grace Jones attractive in this film (and in A View To A Kill)?
It was directed by the same guy though, Richard Fleisher(who made far better films like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea). "Destroyer is not as great as the first one but its kind of cheesy fun.
John Milius directed the first movie if my memory serves well, but either way I'm all too willing to check out this one because I like cheesy fun movies. I loved the reviews by Nostalgia Critic and Urinating Tree.
TBH i was disappointed with this movie after having seen the first one, i love the first movie, i really do, but i felt something was lacking in this one
Back in the 80s, this was quite entertaining, but the film suffers from an irregular editing process, mixing some nice scenes and some tasteless puns that add nothing to the plot. The appearance of Wilt Chamberlain was completely gratuitous, unlike Grace Jones', who surprised me. The dialogues, however, had nothing to do with the careful script in the first film.
What a pity. If they had kept things right, maybe we would have seen a third film, including Conan's fight against Caliastro.
lol, this movie was jus ok ,.. just ok.. lol..

Was it Conan or another classic movie where Arnie (I think it was..) is tortured and hangs by the nipples? Can someone tell me what movie that was?

Carry on Conan. Camp, femminist, shite. A worse squel than even highlander 2.

cool thing about these movies, they would later have soundbites used for the "Golden Axe" series of games :D

Yeah, it's a nice and light movie to watch but I also prefer the first one because it has much more better plot etc.

I absolutely love the first film, but I've heard so many negative things about this one which is kinda sad. Well, it can't be as bad as Red Sonja.

I know Milius directed the first Conan movie. Richard Fleisher directed the sequel AND Red Sonja.

@desotowrong No it wasn't. And Sona had nothing to do with Conan.
