just applied for combat engineer, going to write my cfat tuesday. The online practice test provided seems way to easy, im wondering if they made the basic look a little easier throughout this series then it really is as they do for the test.
Compared to training in The US army they have it easy, in the us army the yell at you for every single thing the pushups you would be doing for the bathroom and the dust bunny which I though was funny lol, every time I see a video of different armies training it looks so easy to what we go through in basic in the US army like the army just requires so much especially army ranger the first day you pretty much get put to work for 13 hours with running wrestling carrying eachother around its rid g
@CanadianArmyNews What can I do if I don't have 5 referents to join the Regular Force? These conditions are wayyyyy over the top (no family members, no friends... WTF)... I have like 1 or 2 who matches those conditions... Does that mean I can't join? That would be ridiculous!
I recently applied to join the forces, but the occupation I want to go into, medical technician, is not currently hiring. I have decided to go into supply technician, as I am eager to join the forces. I am wondering, is there a way I may be able to change occupations when med tech is again hiring?
The position of Medical Technician is now accepting applications. Acceptance in to any trade is based on the Army's need; in addition, all educational and military requirements must be met. For more information about this topic, please contact your local recruiting office.
@AllForTheTeam100 Don't join one trade if you really want another, it is soo hard to change trades once you are in. Trust me I finished BMQ in June and there are people I know trying since I started basic to change to another trade. Its been over a year and still hasen't happened. wait and join the trade you really want and would be proud to be part of the forces as!
@JasonGreene91 Congrats! the series doesn't show the boring parts to basic. POWERPOINT!!!! but stick to it don't give up and you'll make it through! I graduated June 10th this year, BMQ isn't the real military it gets WAY better when you get to your first base :)
Swearing in to the Regular Force this Tuesday (June 21), starting Basic July 9th. Appreciate you guys making this series. Answered a lot of questions.
i got a question, so my friend tells me that during the summer, u can go for basic training with a salary without having to join and serve the army, but my basic understanding is that going for the basic training means that ur basically signing up to join the army and serving for w/e amount of time, can someone clear this up for me? im a bit confused ><
also is there a training program that the government enforces to regulars during the summer, like army experience training camps etc?
@imnoobish Basic training is available to new members of the CF. The only type of basic training that occurs without "serving" in the army, is the reserve basic training. That being said, reservists do, at times, partake in some of the same operations as other military personnel. Please contact your local recruiting office for information on the length of contracts, rates of pay or any potential training programs.
GUYS HELP ME . i really want to be a infantry officer in the Canadian forces but i really also want to be a pilot ... i was in army and air cadets and loved them both .. i show great leadership which i could contribute more to being a Infantry officer but i love to fly . Ive wanted to be in the military for a long time but now since im getting older i really do need your opinion on what u would do if u were in my boots please i would really like everybodys input :) thankyou
@xXCutePuppy666Xx you can message me if you have any other questions. whats your age?.
you need to be an officer to be a pilot anyways, to be an infantry officer you need more then just the rank to do the job you need experience in the military (that's my opinion). if you want it go for it the longer you wait the harder its going to be. Your basic training is what you need after that then you get officer training.
@mello27 To join the Canadian Army you must meet the following basic conditions:
You must: * be a Canadian citizen. * be at least 17 years old (16 years old to apply to the Reserves, with parents’ permission). * meet the minimum educational requirement for your occupation of choice. Have a minimum grade 10 or Secondary III (Quebec) education for combat arms occupations up to a university degree for Direct Entry officer plan.
@CanadianArmyNews * meet all medical and enrollment standards. * successfully complete the pre-enrollment aptitude test.
Note: Citizens of another country with landed immigrant (Permanent Resident) status may be considered when the CF has need of their skill, if the position cannot be filled by a Canadian and national interest would not be prejudiced.
@lianneimnida No, women are allowed to keep their hair whichever length they like. However they need to keep it in a bun or tied in either a single or double braid with earth tone coloured elastics with no adornments on them. They have standards for it that you'll be shown, you may get lucky and get a female instructor too. Odd I know this considering I'm a male lol.
Does anyone know how long you have before inspection of living quarters? Ive watched both seasons but haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. kinda curious if you have half an hour or a couple hours to get everything set...
@nezzy14 Most of the preparation occurs the night before; generally from 21h25 - 23h00, this time is considered "Kit and Quarter Preparation." The following day recruits wake up at 5h10. Between 5h10 - 5h25 there is morning physical training, 5h30 - 6h00 there are showers, 6h10 - 6h50 there is breakfast, then from 7h00 to 7h40 it is time for the inspection. With a schedule as condensed as this it is very important to use the preparation time wisely.
I have a penicillin allergy that is holding me back from my oath, I have my allergy test this week but im wondering if there is a severity level that will keep me out. If I just get hives am I cut? or is it only if i require an epi-pen will it effect my file? whats the policy on allergies?
even thought i have 4 years before joining the army, I feel like I'll never be in fit, even though i'm not fat, i'm just not "YEAH CHECK THIS 6 PACK CHECK IT MAN YEAH!!!!"
@Davie2448 Infantry Soldiers must be physically robust, mentally tough, dependable, self-disciplined, and able to react quickly and adapt readily to changing situations. They must possess courage and common sense, and be both able and willing to learn the wide range of specialized skills and techniques made necessary by the diverse nature of infantry operations. Personal integrity and leadership ability are vital, as is the ability to work well as part of a team.
haha i was at the recruiting centre in toronto , but when i went they said that everything was full, im gunna head back there in spring hopefully i can get a spot in the reserves
@CrimsonWolf502 Well you have two main choices. Army side, you have Combat Engineer, as stated by AVS. Outside of that, you have Bosen (Dont know how you spell that. Pronounced "Bow-Sin"). Bosen's do a little of everything on a ship, including demolitions. If you want to WORK with boom boom rather then make things boom, go my trade. Weapon's Tech (Being changed to "Weapons Engineering Tech.)
@CrimsonWolf502 the only trade i can think of is the combat engineer trade. They build stuff for the other trades to use as well as blow up things that are in the way. they deal with setting and disabling explosive of all sorts
kk you know for training if you can't meet the basic for running like your one lap down but you meet the basic for the push ups the sit ups and the chin ups will they still accept you into training just wondering. cause i'm considering joining
@Freepepsi42 Your physical fitness will be assessed in basic training and action will be taken based what they want to do. Your local; recruiting center will have more information.
@Freepepsi42 pretty much if you can do the chin ups, push up s and sit ups youre fine.. but running is probably just as important as you do it the most but if youre fit wiht alot of anerobic muscular endurance and you only lack in the cardio then you should be fine and when you run for a long eough time with them it wont matter cause youll be ahead with most
@Freepepsi42 Depending on what your scores were on the pushups, sit ups, hand grip and the running they will either send you to platoon, send you to Warrior Fitness Training or they'll send you home. just got done basic from Saint Jean and it was great.
@Freepepsi42 Dont you worry about that. They've gone a little more leniant with physical standards ENTERING basic training. The way a co-worker of mine phrased it, "Instead of requiring you to be fit before you join, they take it upon themselves to get you where they want you."
@wienaitnaingoa That will be determined by the medical officer once you start your enrollment. A policy on pre-enrolment drug use exists which enables recruiting staff to assess, whether applicants are in violation of the universality of service principle. Non-medical drug use is illegal in Canada (with exceptions such as: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine), consideration is also taken of the applicants’ regard for, legal direction and rules. Your local recruiting center will have more information.
@placehood All applicants undergo a police records check, a credit check and personal references check. How the results of these screenings affect your eligibility will vary on a case by case basis. Contact your local recruiting center for more information.
@memomemomemog You must be 17 years of age (with parental/guardian consent) or older to join the Regular Forces. Those interested in the Reserves must be 16 years of age.
@CoupleDrinks haha ya except alcohol, nicotine, and caffine so if they are all completely legal and so are some psychodelics why descriminate against some legal drugs and not others
@crazzykill453 Specific medical standards are neither published on our site nor provided to applicants since they refer to specific criteria only CF health care professionals are trained to utilize. Once you submit an application our recruiting medical personnel will conduct a medical exam. If you have any specific medical questions you should contact the recruiting centre nearest you and ask to speak with a member of the medical staff directly.
i was just wondering do the forces like help big people like i'm fat but i'm fit enough to do training like i play triple A baseball and have been offerd scholourships but do you work with them to lousse the weight cause i know you need a body fat percetage of 22 percent just wondering cause i've been really thinking of joining
kk so even is i can run the 2.4 km in lees them 12 min and do all the physical stuff i still need to be 22 percent body fat that totally sucks i'm fit for my weight but 22 percent thats a problem for me
@crazzykill453 When your application is processed, our recruiting career counsellors and medical personnel will ask you to detail your drug use.
A CF policy on pre-enrolment drug use exists which enables recruiting staff to assess, in part, whether applicants may be in potential violation of the universality of service principle.
An applicant’s suitability, reliability, and organizational fit are also assessed with regard to the overall potential that they may contravene the military Code of Service Discipline and the CF Drug Control Program.
With regard to the Code, since most non-medical drug use is illegal in Canada (with exceptions, such as: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine for example), consideration must also be taken of the applicants’ regard for, and propensity to obey, legal direction and rules.
@IIB20VTEC for me recently i got a call back after 2 weeks (only because they didnt get a copy of my BCertificate the first time i was there) and they told me to give a call back within 2 or 3 weeks if i dont receive one.. a couple days ago i phoned and they said to call a certain nubmer in a nother couple days if i dont get call back (once again) so that i may schedule my aptitude testing.. nerve racking..
QUESTION: If i go through BMQ. Does that mean i MUST serve my 5 years or w.e....what if i just did the BMQ and then walked away?!?! is that even possible?
As a USAF veteran, I can't think of anyone I'd rather have watching my wing than the Canadian Forces. This is hilarious and brings back memories of USAF basic. "THERE IS BROWN MATTER IN THERE!" Sounds like your military instructors do silly stuff to try to get you to laugh and break military bearing too. I still wouldn't like to be on the receiving end of an ass-chewing by PO Robinson, though.
Oh, you won't laugh at the PO...you're too scared at the thought of after-inspection punishment and letting your section/platoon down to laugh.
After week eight or nine though, you usually know the Platoon IC and Section IC well enough and you can't help but giggle at some of the things they say. By then, they usually know you well enough too and turn a blind eye.
i am 16 5'10 200 and whenever i say that people think im fat but it sounds like they never heard of working out haha, im planning on joining the reserves as infantry and reg force after i graduate
During the application process, our recruiting medical personnel will assess your medical situation. A complete medical examination is necessary when assessing medical fitness for the CF. This is also important when restrictions may limit the career choices being considered.
If you have specific medical questions you should contact the recruiting centre nearest you and ask to speak with a member of the medical staff directly.
@Nippz91 Specific medical standards are neither published on our site nor provided to applicants since they refer to specific criteria only CF health care professionals are trained to utilize. Once you submit an application our recruiting medical personnel will conduct a medical exam.

@Dashiki1217 Dude im 16 and im 150 but i play hockey, baseball, and rugby. I'm thinking of joining when im 18. I watched a video where a guy could only do 5 pushups when he first got there but made it in and is now in Afghan right now. So ya man, u can do it :)
@juanchisgomez You can join as long as you make th physical requirements, or you'll be recoursed. Your going to have to get physically and mentally fit before you think about joining. That's what I'm working on right now.
But basically (ouch) even Airmen and Sailors learn how to "soldier" in CF Basic Military Training? Back when I went through USAF BMT it was difficult, but it was clear we weren't the Army. It's good that all components of the CF do this.
@noelle82 LOOOOL when i read that i just burst out laughing LOL funny shit man haha im from britain but im half canadian, so im stuck. do i join the Royal Marines here or do i fly across the world and join Canadian army? lol decisions decisions.
Hey just wanting to know the age requirements, to join... like in other words whats the oldest can someone be to join? Me, I am 21, and turning 22 in Nov. Now I don't want to join at this moment, but if things don't get better for me by this time next year, I'll be wanting to join for sure. And I'll be 22 at the time. Thanks in advance.
wow this takes me back, although I was in Blue not Green. But still this reminds me of a few things I had forgotten. Although I had never seen anyone fall off that bridge on the obstacle course before lol. Also makes me remember how I don't miss inspections lol.

are you still eligable to join the cf if you smoked marijuana before?
crazzykill453 1 year ago
@crazzykill453 When your application is processed, our recruiting career counsellors and medical personnel will ask you to detail your drug use.
A CF policy on pre-enrolment drug use exists which enables recruiting staff to assess, in part, whether applicants may be in potential violation of the universality of service principle.
CanadianArmyNews 1 year ago
An applicant’s suitability, reliability, and organizational fit are also assessed with regard to the overall potential that they may contravene the military Code of Service Discipline and the CF Drug Control Program.
With regard to the Code, since most non-medical drug use is illegal in Canada (with exceptions, such as: alcohol, nicotine, caffeine for example), consideration must also be taken of the applicants’ regard for, and propensity to obey, legal direction and rules.

DissentingVoice 2 years ago 8
Oh, you won't laugh at the PO...you're too scared at the thought of after-inspection punishment and letting your section/platoon down to laugh.
After week eight or nine though, you usually know the Platoon IC and Section IC well enough and you can't help but giggle at some of the things they say. By then, they usually know you well enough too and turn a blind eye.

Dashiki1217 2 years ago
During the application process, our recruiting medical personnel will assess your medical situation. A complete medical examination is necessary when assessing medical fitness for the CF. This is also important when restrictions may limit the career choices being considered.
If you have specific medical questions you should contact the recruiting centre nearest you and ask to speak with a member of the medical staff directly.
CanadianArmyNews 2 years ago
@CanadianArmyNews
i am quite nervous is there specific tests the cf makes you do in order to pass it for the medical?
Nippz91 1 year ago
@Nippz91 Specific medical standards are neither published on our site nor provided to applicants since they refer to specific criteria only CF health care professionals are trained to utilize. Once you submit an application our recruiting medical personnel will conduct a medical exam.
If you have any specific medical questions you should contact the recruiting centre nearest you.

But basically (ouch) even Airmen and Sailors learn how to "soldier" in CF Basic Military Training? Back when I went through USAF BMT it was difficult, but it was clear we weren't the Army. It's good that all components of the CF do this.
