There is positional forgiveness meaning that all are sins are forgiven by our faith in Christ. Now there is relational forgiveness meaning that if we don't repent it only hurts our relationship with the Lord but not our salvation.

Avey sad day when we see John R Rice and his magazine preach a truth of repentance and because we are against Lordship Salvation and MacArthur hit hard on repentance does ot mean we should now abhor that doctrine. We don't have to repent from our sins to get saved, as in, literally turn from them or forsake them,etc. but we do have to have a change of mind about our sin and about God. James isn't even in the context of salvation, it talks about being justified before men, not God. Demons believe that there is one God. There's a difference between believing there is one God and believing that Jesus Christ has given you eternal life, the latter which is required for salvation.

the word 'repent' (nacham hebrew) "to sigh' .God was grieved that He made man He 'sighed / repented.

however, 'Repent' in the New Testament when Jesus said to the Sinners "Repent & believe the gospel" (greek metanoeo) to changed one's mind & feel morally compunction/remorse for one's sinful ways, thus turning away from sin.

I believe we need to realize we are sinners and that the wages of sin is death, and that knowing this will make us realize that we need a Saviour. ...but stop sinning? That is works! The Bible says whosoever believeth on the Son is not condemned. :)
