Before that...was the Jewish era of a development of the understanding of morality and the gradual uncovering of God...culminating in Christ and His teachings. Of course it matters.....but only moral law...not cultural law used to distinguish the Jews from other peoples. But the 10 Commandments are non negotiable....but not fully developed. Also....Christ developed many laws...ie He forbade divorce and said it was allowed in the OT cos the early Jews were such a ruly and unteachable people. Anyhow I am not a theologian and you can read it all in the Catechism or internet. CATHOLIC STATE please!
