  • wtf? The guy in the commercial said... Computerized, Motorized, SYSTEMATIZED??? Is Systematized a word? It must have been a word that was made up and then later killed in the 1980's... Ive never heard of that word.

Besides that, this is my all time favorite camera. It was my first semi pro camera and I fell in love with photography using this awesome camera and a 50mm lens. I stil have it, sitting in a closet and still works well.

  • @TexAli I have one working with a couple lenses, a flash, and filters, bulb, and auto winder 2 with extra shutter, just the whole kit! I got it for $400 at a pawn shop, with the glass. Im selling it for $250.

  • Those cameras were meant to last forever!

  • can i use lenses of these camera on now days dslr?

  • @locosrayo On Sony cameras yes.

  • @starsignproductions @locosrayo I am afraid no, without proper adapter. This is the older mount, not the alpha mount, which sony camera inherited from the alpha/dynax/maxxum series. :)

  • I had an X-700 in Highschool. Loved that camera..

  • I love this camera.

  • I was 4 yrs old when my dad bought this very same SLR in 1985! When I took photography class in college (2003), I'm surprised that his X-700 was still functioning & in ok shape (just needed to be cleaned) Prior to 2003, it was last used in 1995 during my elementary school graduation. Now, it's been 6 yrs since the last time I used it (I'm using Canon T1i now). I stored it in our old house w/ its leather soft case in place. Hopefully it'll still work once I power it up! Thanks for this video! =)

  • @TyrannosaurusTV PM me if its for sale!

  • @TyrannosaurusTV I still use my Mom's old Minolta sr-1 from the 60's!

  • hah i was looking in the shed casually and found this camera in a box that red old shit and it still works i found the old batteries and it still goes shhhclik its sooo awsome when i found it my dad was like ohhh so you found the minolta well be careful with it but take heaps of pictures the i found some old film and started practising i love photography it is fun and i love the satefaction of when you take a good photo and people like it ahhhh minolta!!!!!

  • @ilove360s You don't have to be careful with it, they are built with metal and hate. They're tanks :>

  • I'm gonna buy a X-700 tommorow. Can't wait!!!

  • I now have a Minolta X-700 slr and a Minolta SRT-101 slr and they are both excellent cameras. I used to shoot digital but I have since returned to film with no regrets. I like the picture quality from film. Somehow it just looks more real to me. I also think that shooting film is more fun! Who wants to spend all of their time editing photos on a computer while on vacation? Not me!

  • I like digital for it's convenience and if I'm working with a client, then I use digital. I've been using film for my more serious work. I did some homework and found out that a negative/slide scanned at the highest resolution usually yields pics at around 22MP and above with no loss of detail. With digital we are at the mercy of whoever designed the sensor. Don't get me wrong, digital yields some fantastic images, but still loses some detail during the process.

  • @NismoJoeB13 I couldn't agree with you more here. As long as you have the negatives you can always get copies made in bigger sizes with no loss. Analog > Digital

  • @Pyrofries well have you ever heard of shooting in RAW?

Its not really a physical picture. Its a collection of data and values, hence the possibilities of its expansion are endless.

  • @degez123 I have heard of shooting in RAW, remember that my statement that analog > digital is not scientifically founded and is mostly an opinion

  • @degez123 Enjoy your RAW files as long as you can because in a few years time, say 10-15 years, imaging software available then may not be able to read your RAW files. You see, RAW isn't a standard file. Each manufacturer has its own idea of what a RAW should be ... A negative/slide will always be a negative/slide.

  • just found one of these in my brother's closet and it still works great!!!

  • i got it full full full optional and whit many objectives ( my fovourite is a tamron 500 mm catadiotrical)

  • minolta is probably one of the best manual cameras, theres just something about rokkor lenses.. I have a SR-7

  • Wow that was epic. Makes me regret buying my Voigtlander Bessamatic!!!

  • I have the Minolta XE-7, from 1974, its freakin awesome and hella good

  • My dad has one and now I am the one who will use it. It's my first intro to dslr. Great camera.

  • dslr? dslr means Digital Single Lens Reflex... this Minolta ain't a digital camera

  • my bad, I meant to say slr.

  • I have this camera. It's amazing.

  • when were they made?

i just found mym dads old one.

  • japan

  • i have one for sale! with lots of extras

  • how much?

  • Hi here ! i've buy one from ebay 2 months ago for 45$ with a lens like new :) this camera is fantastic and pictures are really of amazing quality. if ever you find one in good shape, even if you own a dslr give it a try, you'd be surprised :)

  • My father bought his while he was stationed in iceland. Complete kit with bag and stuff. Same flash as in this ad. I read up how to use it and its alot better then my crappy digital camera.

  • Yeah turns out the old man bought a how to book on this camera in specific, I just spent like 4 hours reading to learn about shutter speed, and aperture and depth of field. Can someone explain to me film speed and what it should be set at, also if I take pix at the airport, say the runway is about 1 mile away from me, I understand I wont get a wide angle of view, but what lense can view that far, assuming they still make lenses that fit this brast? Thanks!!!

  • by now you probably learned to use low iso speed film outside and in dark areas use higher iso speed film. You have to buy the specific film type to use that iso, u can go higher but if you push the film too much you get a lot of grain.

  • so 80s...!

but i love that camera, 30 somethin years later and it's still a beast :D

  • I just inherited mine from my Grandfather, I love going to the airport to take shots of the planes and was wondering if I should just sell this thing or if it is any good and can take modern quality pictures? Also, how can I learn to use it, lol. Thanks!

  • it takes extremely good pictures.

much better then a digital slr.

search on the internet for some information.

    there's plenty around.

  • don't selll it!! you'll only get like 100 dollars and if its in good condition (maybe even if its in bad condition) you can take amazing pictures with it! you can download the manual online, and go to a high quality camera shop and ask them to show you the basics, there are also a bunch of videos floating around...

  • I live by an airbase and I think I'm going to buy a similer model soon!

The Airbase I live by is NAS Oceana! And my schoolbus rought passes it by too! Sometimes I'll see a 737 flying in. And once I saw Blue Angels no more than 500 feet from my bus and literally thought "Why the hell didn't i buy one of those Minoltas" lol

    Anyway... DON'T SELL IT!!!

  • I've got the x-370

  • I loved my X-700, but hardly ever use it now because of the cost of film and processing. I wish someone would make a digital camera that took the old MD lenses, just like the newest Pentax cameras still take the old K-mount lenses.

  • Look into the Sony Alpha Series. They take the A Mount lens

  • I've got the X-370, it's like this one but without the all black finish.

  • Deja Vu

  • I have an X700 and it's the best camera I've ever used. Thanks for posting!

  • Got mine in 1984 while in the Army stationed at Camp Casey South Korea.. They also had a SLR 110 camera at the time that would've been a neat little novelty. I wonder what year that commercial was?

  • Hard to tell exactly, but the X-700 was introduced in 1981 and in 1985 the Autofocus Dynax/Maxxum series of cameras and lenses was launched by Minolta and the prime series that dominated the marketing from Minolta. So somewhere between 1981 and 1985 with 99% certainty.

  • Very cool. thx 4 the info. I now have their second-last SLR Digital the Konica/Minolta Dimage A2. Shame they got bought out by Sony.

  • where can you get these? I collect old technology and I'm also trying to buy my dad a B-day present (blast from past)

  • ebay.

  • LOL, I know, I placed a bet and this other guy bet higher, $100 higher
