I'm buying myself an Apogee One very soon. That's where my money would go. But all the M-audio stuff is pretty good and inexpensive. I use a super old first-gen MOTU 828 and an Apogee Duet.
This may be a silly question, but how are you able to select from a list of different microphones in the core audio>devices menu?
I have a Line6 KB37 interface that works fine with an electric guitar plugged straight in, as I have set this up in the MIDI/Set Up menu as the device, but as soon as I plug a Shure SM58 Mic into the KB37 I just can't get any sound monitoring back through the speakers with a new Audio track. Where am I going wrong...?
You don't choose individual inputs from the core audio > devices menu. That's where you choose the audio interface you'll be using. Once you've done that, you choose the correct I/O in the track inspector. If your signal path is correct and you're still not getting sound, troubleshoot it in Audio MIDI Setup.
-The monitoring for the Mic seemed to kick in with Logic, but only if I already had it monitored through the "POD FARM" software that came with the Line6 KB37 to begin with. All very mysterious, but it seems to be working now...
When I record I don't hear anything. Why?

How can I record if I don't have an external MIDI device? Is there Musical Typing like Garageband?

@danjonila You can enter notes by hand or use the Caps Lock keyboard.

I don't know the Line6 KB37 but if it's a multi-input unit, you need to specify which input you are using in the track's channel strip.

Hi Graham, I'm using input 1-2 and output 1-2 in the track's channel strip.
The Mic is connected to the Line 6 KB37 Microphone input 1/Left via XLR.
My Mic doesn't appear in the devices drop down menu as the example you demonstrated.
Hope you can help!
Thanks,
James
