Big apes, mostly chimps and gorillas can't swim because they're too heavy (their bones are heavy and they have too much muscular mass) so by nature they're afraid of big masses of water. Some other species can be taught and some others like macaques are experts.

Macaques like this one are very very fond of water and are naturally expert swimmer/diver. You can find macaques all over Asia, mostly in tropical jungles so water is very natural to them.
