@sexymama1966 Yes, and he's actually used in several episodes. Usually as a dating interest for one of the girls. I believe he played a basketball player named Tommy in Season four. heh I did not know that until I started uploading these, however. It's amazing the things one can learn these days. :-}
@sexymama1966 You're most welcome. Let's see, that would mean they're past the wedding at this point then on MeTV, no? I understand the quality is excellent, and surely wish I could see it. We do not get it in y neck of the woods, however. *shrug* It'll come eventually.
@sexymama1966 I sure hope so, but I kinda live in a rural area. We don't usually get the new channels for quite some time. In the meantime, I'm plugging it for those who peek in here. :-}
I watched PJ from the day it premiered in 1963 through it's final first run broadcast in 1970. I was 8 years old when it came on and loved it! Thanks for posting these wonderful classic sitcoms called situation comedy back in the 50's and 60's:-)
@2nicks I'm glad you are enjoying them. It's why I do it, that and because it's almost impossible to get this show anywhere else. The only place, other than the occasional odd station, is on MeTV, which I personally don't have access to unfortunately. It is available in cities throughout the country from what I understand though.
Don't know if you knew this Penny, but beginning with this episode, the closing credits were slightly revised.
Mike Minor now has own solo on screen credit. Also, as an indication of the shows' changing focus(the railroad becoming less significant to the storylines, and Steve and the girls becoming MORE[than ever] significant to the series), Mike's name is now BEFORE that of Rufe Davis...
Of course this 'new' credits sequence would not last long, as after about 12 more episodes the credits would be overhauled again; with Betty and Steve in their cottage, and Billie and Bobbie, in the lobby(hey that rhymes!). Also, the actress playing that young girl who Steve initially mistakes for Betty Jo, would have been great for "flashback' sequences, to when the girls were younger, as well as younger look a likes of the other girls, but that never happened on this show.
I grew up watching Benji, and did a search recently and found he started out as "dog" in this show. Its great the internet lets you go back and watch all these old shows =)
@Rokkineve Glad you found it and enjoyed watching. One little bit of trivia - Edgar Buchanon, who plays Uncle Joe Carson, was also in the first Benji movie right alongside his old friend. (I was a kid when that one came out. Remember it vividly. heh)
@Rokkineve I've always known that particular fact, as I've always adored Petticoat Junction. heh But know what you mean about the internet letting a person catch up on the classic stuff. One other little tidbit for you - Edgar Buchanon, who played Uncle Joe in this, was in the very first Benji movie right alongside Dog, which is pretty much what his "name" on the show was. They never really gave him an official one on the show. His name, however, was Higgins. I know way too much about this show.
Talk about rapid aging. Last time we saw Betty, she was still in high school. Now, what to us was a few short summer months was FOUR years of college for Betty Jo, now having graduated. Obviously, there was a reason for the writers to age her.Like a soap opera in a way.
@brabon1 That was my brothers gripe too. :-} I, of course, wanted my own water tower to swim in, but my parents just wouldn't buy one for me. Go figure. :-D
@1964nickel ok...you were a kid, i was a kid....according to whatever ratings bureau they were using at the time, this show (and all the rest on cbs) were supposedly only watched by old people....where did they get that from?
honestly...the late 60s were a very turbulent time...and this and shows like it, gave us a break from all the stuff going on outside in the streets
@brabon1 Most of the people who are watching my videos are from about 45 to 55. All were kids at the time it originally aired, and all absolutely loved PJ. And if that's only a sample of the true fan base. . .you see what I mean? Looks like tptb were always a bit on the slow side.
@1964nickel exactly....we are talking the cusp of the boomers....so cbs and the suits at the other networks were wrong...there was no need for the rural purge
they also canceled red skelton and jackie gleason...and i loved both those shows
fine that the shows were replaced with all in the family, mtm, mash, etc....but they couldve easily phased stuff in
@brabon1 ISNT IT AMAZING HOW THE CBS NETWORK WENT BACK 2 RURALS SHOWS WITH THE DUKES OF HAZZARD IN 1979 DESIGNING WOMEN IN THE 8O'S MY POINT IS GOOD SHOWS R GOOD SHOWS NO MATTER WHAT
@1964nickel IT AMAZING HOW CERTAIN SHOWS DO SO WELL IN RERUNS MAKE U THINK WHY THE BIG PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF HOLLYWOOD NEVER REVIVED SOME OF THOSE SHOWS AND SHOWED UPDATED EPISODES WHATS HAPPENING REVISED THEIR SHOW WITH WHATS HAPPENING NOW ONCE A WEEK A NEW EPISODE WOULD BE ATTACHED 2 THE OLD SHOW SOME MAMY SHOWS COULD HAVE BEEN REVISED LIKE THAT
This seemed pretty normal for the Pixley airport. I think it's only when Mr. Douglas had to go to the Pixley Airport that things got a little bizarre. LOL
@bxktd I think Oliver just fell into an alternate universe. Hmm. Someone on one of these posts mentioned a conspiracy where everyone just acted crazy so Lisa could get Oliver to go back to New York. But then the Beverly Hillbillies were crazy too, so. Nope. Guess petticoat junction was the "odd" one in that trio. LOL
Thanks for posting and keep them coming. Is Uncle Joe's "Retirement" episode on deck anytime soon?
I'm really enjoying these- can't believe that's its been 40-45 years since these first aired. The Bradley girls should always be forever young- even though they're old enough to be my mother- LOL.
@bxktd I did get that one converterted. It's a couple down the line I believe, for the uploads anyway. Have been having wireless trouble the past week, and think most likely someone has a cellphone or something that's interfering. Just haven't settled on the right fix for it yet, so my connection is slower than usual. That makes uploading videos like this hard. They are in the queue, so to speak though, so just cross your fingers. :-}
Sorry folks. Am having trouble uploading the next two parts. I promise I will get them if I have to crawl through the screen and pull the videos through with me. LOL
@carolharrison123 Having trouble with my connection for some reason. I get as much as half the episode loaded and it stalls. Will get it as soon as I can, I promise. hate to leave y'all hangin', so to speak.
@carolharrison123 Only got one more part to go. And am still having trouble. The problem is something keeps interrupting my wireless. it doesn't last but a few seconds, but it will shut down the upload every time. That can get frustrating. But I am still trying, I promise.
@1964nickel I particulary liked this episode because it was first time we saw Steve's feelings for Betty Jo. I hope you can get the rest of the episode done today! and please do more if possilbe. Thanks again!
@friesandfries You're probably not gonna like this channel then, because we gots lots and lots of Steve Elliott and Mike Minor. Yep. :-}
