  • My all time favorite sone ever, Sheila rocked it out like no other percussionist. I got a chance to meet her at a club in San Jose, CA in the 90's.

  • TVone Unsung brought me here

  • that's a bad bitch .... dancing will playing the drums, wow!

  • Damn, I miss Sheila E, Prince and Wendy and Lisa.

  • #34(Tie)

  • remember when every kid knew how to play this song on piano back then. flat and sharp keys. that and ewf's groove tonight

  • <----teenager and loves this song

  • A Love Bizarre is her bomb song she rocked it!

  • I stole this cassette from the store when it first came out. Hers along with Teena Marie's 'Starchild'. Then I left them at a school function by accident.

  • Love her!

  • @FireitupBedford That's her sister.

  • i forgot how cool this lady is...

  • I just saw her story on "Unsung." What an amazing talent but what a tragedy that drove her....

  • @Mommabee6 I didn't catch "Unsung" on her. What was the tragedy that struck her? Did they say why she never married?

  • @Pllm30 She was raped at 5 yrs old and was molested for years after that...That's why she acted out sexually/sensually on stage...She was mad...She was so "out there" that even Prince asked her "Are you sure you wanna do/act like this?" She said "Hell yeah!" Then she came to her senses when the critics became only concerned with what she was (not) gonna wear at her next performance instead of honoring her musicality...She said she never married cuz no one ever asked!

  • FERGIE BABY COPIED MY BABY MS. E

  • i was 5 and had a crush on mami. im 32 now and still will bust her 55 year old ass. she look good as hell but what really turn me on is when she be beatin the hell out those drums then slam the stick down or knock the congos over like she know no one can fuck with her. shelia get at me baby....lol.

  • Those were the days. I'm glad I was able to enjoy my 20's during the 80s.

  • Sheila E is definitely an underrated little genius,. Love her.

  • @annwitt72 ....... Prince was the genius not her... he wrote the song... and if you listen to the song with headphones... he sang half of the background... ALTHOUGH I love her too!!!

  • LUV IT STILL SEXY AND ITS 2012...THE .80'S ROCK!

  • 10 people live the unglamorous life.

  • I have to say this woman was very beautiful and good at what she did back in the day. I seen her now and she doesn't look that way anymore, but this songs was the shit back in the day.

  • @Otis461 of course she doesn't look that way anymore....that was over 25 yrs ago. She is over 50 yrs old now. Dah!

  • @Otis461 She's still a good looking woman for being 54!

  • Ladies of today's so-called music, this woman has talent, vocals, musical ability, & write her own songs. Plus she fine as hell. Ya'll need to recognize!

  • She was so hot! I had the biggest crush on her! I was in the 2nd grade when this came out!!!

  • Shiela E rules. This is such an awesome song.

  • This music is so original. Gotta love the 80's. No music nowadays can touch anything from back then.

  • @Puma4454 Please do not confuse the chaotic noise of today with the masterpieces of yesterday by calling it music!

  • This is likeMY FAVORITE SONG!!! WATCH OUT!!! R.PEACE

  • 今聴いても、この曲は、鳥肌が立つ。

    アメリカの80年代ファッションって、凄くダサかったけど

    シーラEだけは、別格だなぁ。

  • It's glamorous y'all! LOL!

  • This is what the women of The music Industry should have evolved to. I'm so sick of women just singing; It's time they played musical instruments too. It's time that women rock just like the guys. Oh well ;Can't have everything, right?

  • THIS IS THE TRUE ESSENCE OF THE MIAMI VICE LIFESTYLE !!! ALL THESE NEW ASSHOLE RAPPERS CAN'T HOLD WEIGHT TO CLASSICS !!! LIKE WHEN RICK ROSS SAMPLED " TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT ", FROM THE SCARFACE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK... JUST READ ALL THE COMMENTS.... PEOPLE HATE IT !!! CLASSICS ARE... CLASSICS !!! " SHE WANTS TO LIVE... THE GLAMOROUS LIFE... SHE DON'T NEED.... A MAN'S TOUCH... " THEN LATER... " SHE NEEDS A MANS TOUCH... " CRAZY, CONTRADICTORY BITCH... CLASSIC !!! PEACE

  • Do you think Prince screwed her?

  • 80's, 80's, 80's! :-D God what happened to this totally awesome music? Really! The 80's had the best fashion, hair, makeup and music! And it ended way too soon. I had the best time of my life back then, my friends and I. Anyone who lived the 80's knows what I am talking about. It was just a special time to be alive. :-) The moments and memories of that time could never be topped. I spent so many days and nights just hanging with my friends listening to this awesome music. What a time that was!

  • @thecarebearhideaway Yes I certainly feel your memories!! I was around 9-10 years old when Purple Rain , Thriller, Culture Club, Madonna, etc was really new and Big then!! And yeah even so young I loved the music, and as an adult, i still really have fun listening to song of 80's and 90's...I just dont feel it with these new acts these days..Justin Bieber, i dont think so, and Ke$ha not that talented!! Nobody wants to different and rebel any more!!! thats what music is about!!!( DEMONS!!)

  • @cowbells4u Same here when it comes to todays music. What I have noticed is that everyone looks the same, sounds the same, sings the same damn songs. No one can venture out of their protected little shell and do something out of the ordinary. In the 80's , everyone had their own look, style, musical sound and the majority of the bands sang about different things. Need I say what today's music is all about. I dont listen to today's music of course but unfortunately you just cant escape it.

  • @thecarebearhideaway Yep, Yep I think its the record companies these days...The money has overtaken the art!! Im a wanna be musician, wanting to get into the biz..10ys ago I was gung ho, now I dont know... if I wanna be famous and well known!! Not to mention movies arent as good to..Super 8 was like a 80's movie!! It was good, but these others are CG cartoons basically..But yeah,..if your origional these days, your hated and exiled and not given a chance!! Everyone wants to be ghetto now!!

  • @cowbells4u Yeah exactly! I think you summed it all up right there! I dont think I could add anything different here that would not be in agreeance with you. Awesome comment and truthful! :-D What is it with wanting to be ghetto? I mean seriously. I dont get it. There used to be a time when people held pride in how they appeared to others. Now the more ghetto you look the better. I guess I am old fashioned here but proud to be it. :-)

  • @thecarebearhideaway

You got that right. It was the best of times. I remember it well and lament that it ended to soon. I had the best times and great friends and best days. It was a great time to grow up and it was great fun VH-1 and MTV played cool videos and every friday and saturday night watching Night Tracks till all hours. A great time sad its over

  • @robertmark341 Ahhh yes, I remember Night Tracks! I used to stay up and watch that along with Mtv. I never even knew of Vh-1 until quite a few years later. I still catch Vh-1 classics when I get the chance and it is totally awesome but unfortunately, it just doesnt feel the same to watch it now as it did as a teen. I guess that has to do with age and also with the fact that the 80's was just a special time all the way around. And it is sad that it is over. A blink and it was gone!

  • @thecarebearhideaway Its because in the 80's you had a generation of black and white people growing up together in the 50's and 60's. Then after JFK it became more Latino and Asian growing up together throughout Vietnam into the early 80's. So by the mid 80's, looking towards the 90's you had the black and white grandparents cool with each other, the latino and asian young parents cool with each other and their babies making friends today with Jews and Middle Easterners. You watch now post Iraq!

  • Everybody got up to dance to this at the late, lamented Entertainment Factory in Carmichael, CA in 1984. I met Sheila E. back in 1996 after I came out the Navy when she, Pops & the E. Clan gave a concert in Vacaville. I got her to autograph one of my cowboy boots that I still have. Bill 'Superfoot' Wallace autographed the other boot at a seminar earlier that year.

  • i use to b so in love wit her!! man where aLL THE REAL WOMEN AT????

  • 1 of my top 10 favorite songs made during the "eighties" when I was a kid.

  • what;s the talented Sheila E up to these days?

  • God... I may have born in the 90s, but I sure as hell miss the 80s.. :D

  • Saw her open for Prince during the Purple Rain tour and she simply kicked ass and was hot as hell..

  • yes this song fucking rules, i hope they never try to remake it bcuz they'll never be able to touch this awesomeness

  • @lauvamojada i hate when they remake awesome songs.lets hope they never do for the music of today would destroy this song

  • @lauvamojada - Rihanna looks like a got damn idiot doing this in concert - beating on a drum like an angry 4 year old beating her parents pots and pans.

  • @ROGERTROUTMAN1 lmao i can only imagine

  • I wish they made good music like this now.

  • Sheila E!!!!! hell Yea thought I would never find this video

  • KOREAN GIRL GROUP GIRL GENERATION PLAGIRIZED THIS SONG.

  • This song is awesome. I guarantee Prince wrote it. It has his stank all over it.

  • This song is just... well... evocative... :)!!!

  • I LOVE THE 80S!!!! such a cheesy fun and careless time. you could wear the craziest things and it was all good. wheres the damn time machine...

  • One thing I no like bout the 80s, them oversized, fake broad shoulders on the girls...

  • @drea1286 Amen.

  • @drea1286 And oh yeah, remember when artist actually played instruments, and write emotional songs!! Real music and creativity!! Remember that noise we used to call music?!..LOL

  • @drea1286 Amen!!!

  • shelia E is an old school rocker and just paved the way for beyonce and rihana

  • THIS IS A CLASSIC!! I LOVE THIS SONG! I LOVE SHELIA E!! AFTER SEEING HER PLAY THE DRUMS, I WANTED TO PLAY THE DRUMS! SHE MADE WOMEN THAT PLAYED THE DRUMS STILL LOOK SEXY AND GLAMOUROUS!! SHE IS FANTASTIC LIVE TOO! SHE STILL RULES!

  • Its hard to believe Sheila E is Nicole Richie's Biological aunt.

  • @Moshid88 How fucking cool would that be to say sheila e is your auntie? Wow

  • I think im the first person in the history of YouTube to watch the trailer of A Serbian Film them right afterwards watch Sheila E's The glamorous Life......... Im a weird Troll

  • tx for posting. This song was HUGE back in the day and is still a lotta fun. Shocked at how much Beyonce, Rhianna etc reference the 80s looks..and claim they're original.

  • She is fine as wine and sweet as sugar, and STILL is the baddest chick on the drums! I love yuou, Sheila!

  • she Shelia E showed her true ass colors during Coachella!! Bad and hard asss percussions as always!!

  • the creators of Jem mustve modeled Carmen or Reya, after Sheila E

  • @mimatus1 Agreed. Bring them back. <3

  • MORE COWBELL

  • Ahhh! The 80's!! Best decade of all time. I read all of the comments, and you are all right!! I was in my 20's during the 80's~the clubs, the hair, the clothes and a lot of talented singers...not the crap now days. Back then, they could sing just as good live as the they could on their albums. It was REAL talent. I agree~the big hair is back. It was so beautiful and so were the clothes. That was the GREATEST decade of all time!!

  • Classic. Just classic.

  • Who's the girl playing the guitar?

  • Man how much i love this track...

  • Popped collars and white shoes! Awesome.

  • Soooo, I'm only 15, and i know all about Sheila:)! Crazy how her legacy hits and effects young people like, even though her music came out like 20 years ago!

  • i like the fact that only 5 people have disliked this song. meaning that most of the people who've seen this have great music taste! :D

  • I saw her in concert in 1985. New York City, I was 17. I used to wear my hair just like that. Those were the days.

  • PRINCE BEAT THAT PUSSY UP!!!!

  • Love her......she's awesome. I wanted to play drums in H.S. cuz of her.

  • Sheila E = STAR

  • Sheila hd me trying to play drums on pots as a shorty.

  • Wow, when I first saw this video I said wow she is the perfect female Prince. She grasped onto that cool and cockyness fast. she was stepping her ass off. I will allways respect her because she is a hard worker. She displays a lot of compassion for music. I just was mesmeried when I first saw her. I was like who is this chick. She blew up fast it was soo cool. I miss the 80's

that was when music was fun and carefree.

  • Great song. Great video. Nuff said.

  • @RBCHILD4EV I know ...

  • escovedo sorry for the mis spelling i forgot the c

  • reminds me of the show jem and the holograms

  • isnt she the daughter of the drummer of Santana, ?

  • @d1malcriao yes she is her dad is pete esovedo long time percussionist with santana! talent runs in the family of course like the porcaro family .joe porcaro percussionist drummer father of jeff, steve and mike of toto fame!jeff sadly died in 92' and younger brother mike is suffering with moto neurones disease very sad!

  • @MrTonedeff Thanks.. Phil Collins too, he cant play drums anymore due to an athritic type disorder. Then thier is Gina Schock drummer, of the GO-GO's who had heart disease, its crazy!

  • Gone Sheila! She was bad azz on those drums!!

  • LOVE U LOVE U LOVE U SHEILA E!!!!!!

  • Cool!

  • Don't tell I'm the only one that thinks saxophone should be in more songs?

  • She is not only beautiful, but a fantastic percussionist as well. It runs in her family. :-)

  • Women were much more beautiful back in the 80's and 90's.

  • I miss the 80's!

  • Very classy video! Sheila E is an awesome singer / performer! :)

  • Beyoncé was cool with the Destiny's child....but I don't really like what she's doing in solo....she'll never be like Sheila E.....This song is awesome!!

  • Shelia is glamourous the others are trashy. You hear me Beyonce and Rihanna.

  • @whimsicalocean Sooo very, very true.

  • @whimsicalocean

    I only like Rihanna YTP's.

  • @whimsicalocean ummm HOW is beyonce trashy??

  • @BrownEyedBeauty003

Funny how they call Beyonce trashy and Sheila plays a whore in the video...lol

  • @Foxlocke i love sheila and beyonce. i dont think beyonce's trashy though..she isn't scandalous

  • @Foxlocke I don't agree with calling Beyonce trashy, but Sheila E is a world-class percussionist....a true legendary MUSICIAN, which Beyonce will probably never be.

  • @Megajanitor

And Beyonce is a world class singer/dancer...something Sheila E will never EVER be.

It is funny how there is ALWAYS Beyonce bashing on every single video of a female performer. Apparently Bey is the gold standard by which everyone should be compared.

Oh for the record I like Sheila E.

  • @Foxlocke Not gold standard, just todays (or yesterdays, since her new one sunk) pop star that shows more skin than talent.

  • @whimsicalocean trashy? hahahha oh dear!

  • @whimsicalocean I don't think it's nice to say that Beyonce is trashy. She is a respectful, talented and dignified lady. She follows the conventional path in society and manages to balance it with her career. She needs more credit than you give her. --thanks
