I'm thinking of getting my cats sprayed but watching this scared the HELL out of me. How long does it takes for them to get back to normal? How long does it take for the meds to wear off? Like before they start running around and playing? The same doesn't happen to the females, do it?

@shirleysw21 it takes about 1-2 days for everything to wear off but in the end its worth it and the same goes for females too

@mskittylover4life its for male cats it is so the cat doesn't spray an prevents them from making kittens. but if u do not want it done then u have to let the cat out often so it can make kittens lol :} so neutered is a surgery so male cats can't produce babies (kittens)

Not EVERY dog or cat. Its just about population control without eliminating a population through lack of selective breeding.

it depends on where you live, there should be humane societies or something like that, that will help you get ur cats, dogs, neutered at low cost. where i'm at its 50 dollars at the vet i got to, but thru humane society help i only have to pay 10 dollars of that.

I got my cats at the humane society and they were not in good condition, the humane society doesn't take good care of there animals, atleast the one in Indiana sucks. My poor babies were sick because of neglect from the humane society. They lied to us and said they were fine and after we took them home we spent $800.00 on medicine and vet visits. Its terrible. And now they want to take them away from me because of the neutering thing. :(

if you don´t neuter your cats you're not a responsible owner. doens't matter how much you spent in vet, neutering is part of the care a cat needs. maybe the humane society needs help or volunteers to make a better job.

when i got my gray male neutered, he was just shy of 1 year old, he was very groggy and they say you can start getting them neutered around 5-6 months.
