  • I knew war was expensive, but there are so many expenses that never occurred to me. Such as the soldiers getting disability when they return. It was really disturbing to hear how the budget for the war passed the Center of Disease control budget of three years. It would be great it news channels and newspapers reported these things instead of focusing on all the fluff.

  • if we ...uuuhhhhhhh uuuhhhh spent ..uuuhhh uuhhhmmm ..uuu...uuhhh 300 billion uuhhh....uhhhmmm..uuhhhhh dollars...uuhhhh uuhhhh uuhhh...then we..uuuhhhh uuhhhhh...uuuhhh uuuuhhh......whatever

this joseph stiglitz character needs a little brushing up on his oral presentory abilities.

  • You could 'stimulate' the economy by taking the 'monopoly of money making' from the private hands of the federal reserve. There are more people working now than ever and by taking the power back we could all enjoy the true rewards and payments that should be gained by working so hard

  • @jonil9999 brilliant!!.......now wake the REST of the country up!!

  • bush's bailout had a limit of 700 billion

obama *barry satororo* *bailout* has no limit and has now reached 28 trillion wake up america foreign banks have taken over

  • @twisted45 obamas bailout reached 28 trillion?

  • cost is only on part, who has calculated the amount of gains?

  • Suja: I'm an economist, if you could tell me some of the gains (where profit outweighs cost) and I will calculate it for you!

  • ok, in economy profit=revenue-cost

this video look only at cost side. I am saying that there is also a revenue side (employment, tax, profits etc.). I am not saying that profit is possitive in this equation.

  • Suj: The truth is this video barely scratches the surface of "true" economic loss.

Also, Economic Profit includes lost opportunity costs -- its not profit= rev - cost (that's accounting). Watching these huge War Banks and War Corporationists fall owing to "accounting" issues is funny -- the latter is called "connecting obscure dots."

  • Tax Revenue is Theft-Revenue -- it pulls money from entrepreneurialism-innovation-and R&D -- These are opportunity costs!

Gov't Inflationary Spending Job Generation creates greater inflation - to guard against inflation the wealthy invest more in secure assets -- the latter pulls money out of entrepreneurialism and "true" job generation.

War Profits (Again: Tax-Slavery and Debt Financed) destroys Entrepreneurialism; which chiefly comes from poor and middle class innovators.

  • the war would cost that amount (3 trillion) if the money would have been taken out of the economy, but this is not the case.

But if you think that greater tax revenues, profits and employment ceteris paribus is bad for the country then I give up.

  • Suj: I have an advanced degree in Economics and Child Development (psychology) I work professionally as a Senior Financial Analyst on the Accounting side. I could helpt to pull the blinders off but I'll need more than 500 characters.

Send me a message and we'll begin your education on the difference between Constitutional Republic and Democracy - Neoconservative "Free-markets" vs Truly "Free-Markets." I'll let you decide which gov't and which market we live under in the U.S

  • Suj: What do you mean "if the money was taken out of the economy, but this is not the case" -- where did the money come from then?

You probably think the Bailout is for the people too, hahahaha. Goldman Sachs is one of the larger recipients - another top Recipient is Royal Bank of Scotland -- infact most of the Bailout will head out of the country as does the money spent on war.

Paste the following after youtube in address bar.

    "watch?v=_2srLxcsqXg"

  • well, your assumptions are wrong because I dont care about the Bailout nor US politics, not even how much money does Iraq war has cost. The thing I am trying to say is that you cant make judgements about things only by looking at them from one perspective.

As for money not leaving the country, the funds spent by the government return to the economy with a multiplier effect (as an economist you should know that). The war would cost 3 trillion only if that money wouldnt stimulate the economy.

  • Suj: You were not paying attention to what I said -- Multiplier Effect is a Macro-Economic or Keynesian tool it ignores the effect of Fiat Money Creation and Fiat Credit; both create inflation and are the only ways to fund the war; as tax revenue goes nearly 100% to pay down interest on debt prior to war.

So, yes in a "nominal" sense there's more money in circulation and there is nominal profit; however "real" profits and "real" purchasing power decreases with every increase in Fiat-Spending.

  • ok, lets make it simple. you have 2 choices 1) government borrows 3 trillion dollars and burn all the money, 2) government borrows 3 trillion dollars and puts it in U.S. economy through wages, military purchases, infrastructure etc. which would benefit economy more?

  • Suj: How about the 3rd choice? Americans receive training (very simple actually) in how to "read" Bills and Propositions, that they only vote for Constitutional Oath Keeping Candidates (like Ron Paul) and they stop sucking on the Keynesian Monetarist Hind Teat.

Gov't is not Constitutionally Authorized to Borrow against the People #1. They have two jobs. Print the money at no interest expense and oversee the Navy. Everything else is supposed to be decided by the states in a free-market.

  • Suj: Please do not say America has "free-markets" -- the freest markets are in technology and that's why every year we get more for less. That's how healthcare should be. Where increases in technology reduce prices. But with massive regulation health care must have teams of lawyers and lobbyists; spending (I shit u not) 100's of billions per year to get around; as an industry.

Corporate Welfare an Gov't Welfare for People are both un-Constitutional.

Progressive Tax is a Plank of Communism

  • Suj: Please do not say America has "free-markets"

    Where did I say that?

I agree that the money could be spent 1000 gazillion times more efficient and whatever else you said.

Just answer which of those 2 simple choices would be more beneficial for the economy.

  • Suj: You didn't it's just you are making a "keynesian" argument, whether you know it or not.

Yes if the choice is $700B going outside the country or $700B staying in the country I'd choose "neither" because of dollar destruction and inflationary tax. But, if I was a welfarist I'd chose the money stay in the country.

Unfortunately 60% of this money will leave the country: Royal Bank of Scottland is one such welfare recipient -- they also gave Senator Dodd 250,000; wow!

  • Stimulate the economy by taxing the people? Isn't that just fleecing?

  • I am not implying that war is good or the money has been well spent. I am not saying that private enterprises couldnt use those funds more efficiently. what I am saying is that by calculating the cost ( and most of it indirect cost) it would be fair to show the gains for economy, both direct and indirect.

  • now that i think about it, its really kind of funny and ironic

1)people work to pay there taxes

2)the taxes go to the government

3)the government spends tax money on war

    4)economy drops

basically, the people gave the government the money so he could start a war, which eventually destroyed the economy and worsened the country

  • Cross: The income tax is barely enough to cover the interest payments on pre-war debt. This war was paid for by Fiat Money Printing and Fiat Credit supplied by the Private Banking Cartel (an Un-Natural Monopoly) "The Federal Reserve Bank"

We Americans are "complicit" - just as white who didn't own slaves during Chattle Slavery years were complicit; as they did nothing. Some got their hands dirty with small rebellions and some risked public disapproval by joining an abolition society.

  • You stupid morons!!!! Spending my hard-earned tax money to continue to murder 1,000,000 innocent elders, women, & children in a nation we illegally invaded. You frickin' war criminal, treasonous bastards, destroying our constitution with torture & no habeas corpus, when we could have national healthcare by now. And the USA masses let it happen cuz 3 of 5 don't even know we have 3 branches of gov't. Nor can they name them. How idiotic!!! Welcome to screwed-up America.

  • 3 trillion dollar? X< 3.000.000 x 1.000.000

Damn, we could probably have replaced all polluting energy plants in the world (the entire planet) with renewal energy sources to the entire planet. Depressing.

  • most US citizens are only concentrated in making money their own money the rest for them is just crap. they're selfish. Im proud of the smart ones that do something about it

  • geez.....93 minutes

  • Wake up America...

  • there are a lot of us who are awake to this ...but there are others, especially the younger generations, that are too brainwashed by the media ...in particular, whats happening with the celebrities and internet social networking sites. Its a clever way to take their minds off whats happening in the world. They push all of these teen-based reality shows and websites like myspace and facebook in their faces and "magically" the teens have no idea whats going on.

  • Check out Facebook Groups

1million against the war in iraq

stop Blair From CaSHING IN ON wAR

    AND

the truth about weapons of mass destruction

  • well ok so facebook may be awake to this ...mostly because it more based towards academics, but that doesnt say much for the rest of them and all of the reality shows.

  • Join us in the groups. As far as reality shows go they are pretty mind numming. I prefer reality that is more dramatic than any show and more scary than any horror film

See my YOUtube account and some of the docs on my Youtube chanel. GOto the chanel then the playlists. Better than Big Brother any day

  • there's a difference between a reality show and whats considered a "docu-drama" which is what you're referring to. What I mean by reality shows is like the Kardashian's show, the ones they had for all of the pop stars, etc..

  • Just Googled Kardashian show to find out what that is. Any wonder you guys can put up with bush. She is awful. Bring on a good Documentary. I say.

  • Don't blame people for having hobbies or watching trash TV. I am aware of the reality and still get my kicks on the internet. I doubt that the producers of reality shows are conspiring to keep us distracted from serious issues. They are probably as ignorant as the people that watch their shows.

  • How far from treachery can Bush actually be? He´s goverment seems to be about to sink the greatest contry, economy and beutiful place in the world. Have they missed that the hole world is turning against you guys?

I live in Europe and 10 years ago when we thoght of USA we thoght of freedom and greatness. Today murder, terror and torture. Is that how you want to be remebered?

  • The figures for injured veterans are staggering and of course under-reported compared to fatalities.
