I have been a lawyer for over 17 years and solo for 9, after working for the REAL big daddies... solo is tough but solo is for lawyers who can't be what others want them to be. And who would rather be the voice they hear in their head.. life is never easy being around a solo lawyer, but then if not for us, there would be no real practice of law.

I have been a solo lawyer for over 30 years. A law professor, too. This video is amazing! It is a brilliant celebration of truth. Caroyln Elefant has long distiguished herself as this generation's champion of going solo. Already prolific and articulate as writer and speaker, she may now crown herself as the most artistic, as well. I got chills.

I liked the video. Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that our law schools have produced such a tremendous excess of JDs that solos face tremendous amounts of competition from other solos, more experienced solos, and small firms. I also think this video downplayed the start-up costs of opening a solo practice, such as an advertising budget. Free online sites are nice but will any potential clients ever learn that you exist?
