pre ride check is unlikely to reveal a problem. that was either a fracture from excess stress alone or fatigue failure from riding like this on a fork designed for normal road use for some time. fatigue occurs at a microscopic level in the metal so you would be unlikely to see it through the paint. This is why bmx bikes have big wall chromo or tough steel forks, and small wheels to keep the fork length down. nice bike tho, hope you got it fixed up again :)

There are some great fixed gear specific tricks which date back to the 19th century. There is some stuff you can only do on a fixed gear bike with large wheels and it does look good. It's when they try to mix a fixed gear bike into the world of BMX that the shit hits the fan. Not only is the fork not made for the crap he just did, but neither is the headset.

Don't get turned off of fixed gears because of this vid. Get turned off of doing things wrong. Fixed gears have there place. This isn't it
