  • I went to the biltmore house in December 21 2010 with my school Northwest Middle School

  • So sad how something so beautiful turns into a mall for tourist.

  • I'm so proud to be born in Asheville. I've visited this place at least a half dozen times At times My friends and I would reenact movie scenes from movies that has featured this Biltmore house. Hahaha, Or whenever We'd run around grandfather mountain, we'd sing out the Last of the Mahicans theme song while running around. Good times.

  • My wife and I visited the Biltmore in '08. Thanks for posting this - brings back nice memories.

  • i loved my trip there! the house is truely amazing...i have a vacation home a few hours from there

  • Who the hell is George Vanderbilt? If I'm correct, it's CORNELIUS Vanderbilt II...

  • Sorry to contradict someone who is such a great historian such as you obviously are, but it was built by GEORGE Vanderbilt, the 3rd son of William Henry Vanderbilt. Cornelius was his brother. Why don't you learn to read and put it to use, you may be surprised what you learn.

  • Thank you. I was especially insulted when he said "Who the hell is..."

  • I went there and it is amazing!

  • I'd give anything to go back there. It was incredible my first time.

  • George Huh? or Cornelius, but whatever

  • what do youdo is it fun in asheville

  • I love this place! I've been there sooooooooo many times! It's about 2 1/2 hjours from my house and its only 30 minutes from my old house!

  • Ah, man I was there. That place is insane.

  • Aaron Spelling's Beverly Hills mansion is for sale. I think they said it's the largest house in America, but this place looks bigger. Maybe, they meant Spelling's place is the largest house FOR SALE in America.

  • yea biggest for sale, the Biltmooe estate is by far the largest home in america

  • i was there in july last year it was amazing! just everything in the house was beautiful. while i was walking into all the rooms i was just imagining all the servants and the kids running around the house while it was in use. i loved it soooo much!

  • man i went there about 5-6 yrs ago. that place is incredible

  • my cousin is head of the floral department there

  • Actually... the shops are housed in what Used to be the Stables for the estate. But they've done an awesome job of keeping the look and feel of the original buildings.

  • quite impressive. been standing for so long. The majority of land in Western North Carolina was owned by George.

  • That's wehre Hannibal was filmed too. The rich crazy guy Mason Verger lived there.

I was there in 2000. Unimaginable beauty.

  • This was a really nice video! I am thinking about doing a road trip next spring but can't decide whether to go west or East. (I live in Oklahoma) We have been to the Rockies, but I have always been curious about the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anyway, your video was very informative.. like a guided tour!

  • Thanks, It's a wonderful interesting place to visit.

  • I've been there before. Don't they own like 150,000 Acres or something near that? I loved walking through the gardens, and then there was the Winery, that was cool...

  • Great place to visit

  • @EyeSlick I heard it was 9,000 acres

  • It was 125,000 acres when he first bought the land. His wife was forced to sell most of the land when the federal government come up with property tax. Now it's 8000 acres which is still a lot of land.

  • lol at 4:10 she goes to take a picture and he just walks into it lol

  • I always do that.

  • I believe the "trees" you kept referring too

on the "patio" are Wysteria vines...very very old ones.

  • Thank....I forgot my botany!

  • Lovely estate, way to much money for their own good. Sad to see all the homeless people on the streets in front of the entrance to the Estate. Makes a sad statement to how some of us have it and others don't.

  • hahaha homeless in biltmore? please..I have never ever seen homeless there...and I go by daily security is posted right at the front gates at the main road and all the way through...

  • Imagine being a kid playing hide and seek in that thing?

  • Ha ha i thought that as well. Play at night with the lights off. you and one other. Walking down a pitch black Hallway not knowing when your partner is going to jump out at you.... or even worse; bump into Mason Verger in his Wheel Chair...

  • "There is a morning fog over 'dere... over da mountains" lol... i was a guide here for 1 year and it made me insane. big house... crazy people wandering through it from 8am till 7pm. I love the parking attendent who says 5000 people worked on it... FAIL!

  • George Vaaaaaaaanderbilt

  • imagine living there

  • I've been going there since I was a child.

It inspired me to be an architect.

  • I can understand your inspiration

  • It obviously made an impression.
