I'm so proud to be born in Asheville. I've visited this place at least a half dozen times At times My friends and I would reenact movie scenes from movies that has featured this Biltmore house. Hahaha, Or whenever We'd run around grandfather mountain, we'd sing out the Last of the Mahicans theme song while running around. Good times.
Thanks for the tour! You did a great job of narrating. We just came back from actually visiting the Biltmore a few days ago and it was as beautiful as you described. Sure wish I could have taken photos of some of those amazing old room. Have you been back to the Biltmore since 07?
I want this mansion. I would let people visit for only one month after I move in. Then I would use some of there money to pay for the house lol. I want it so bad lol
@stagelightingkid Sadly,I don't think alot of people could afford this mansion.Maybe people like Bill Gates could, even then.Hearst Castle is another fine example.
Sorry to contradict someone who is such a great historian such as you obviously are, but it was built by GEORGE Vanderbilt, the 3rd son of William Henry Vanderbilt. Cornelius was his brother. Why don't you learn to read and put it to use, you may be surprised what you learn.
Aaron Spelling's Beverly Hills mansion is for sale. I think they said it's the largest house in America, but this place looks bigger. Maybe, they meant Spelling's place is the largest house FOR SALE in America.
i was there in july last year it was amazing! just everything in the house was beautiful. while i was walking into all the rooms i was just imagining all the servants and the kids running around the house while it was in use. i loved it soooo much!
Actually... the shops are housed in what Used to be the Stables for the estate. But they've done an awesome job of keeping the look and feel of the original buildings.
This was a really nice video! I am thinking about doing a road trip next spring but can't decide whether to go west or East. (I live in Oklahoma) We have been to the Rockies, but I have always been curious about the Blue Ridge Parkway. Anyway, your video was very informative.. like a guided tour!
I've been there before. Don't they own like 150,000 Acres or something near that? I loved walking through the gardens, and then there was the Winery, that was cool...
It was 125,000 acres when he first bought the land. His wife was forced to sell most of the land when the federal government come up with property tax. Now it's 8000 acres which is still a lot of land.
Lovely estate, way to much money for their own good. Sad to see all the homeless people on the streets in front of the entrance to the Estate. Makes a sad statement to how some of us have it and others don't.
hahaha homeless in biltmore? please..I have never ever seen homeless there...and I go by daily security is posted right at the front gates at the main road and all the way through...
Ha ha i thought that as well. Play at night with the lights off. you and one other. Walking down a pitch black Hallway not knowing when your partner is going to jump out at you.... or even worse; bump into Mason Verger in his Wheel Chair...
"There is a morning fog over 'dere... over da mountains" lol... i was a guide here for 1 year and it made me insane. big house... crazy people wandering through it from 8am till 7pm. I love the parking attendent who says 5000 people worked on it... FAIL!
Wonderfully historic place to visit. Luckily, I have family living in Asheville, so it's always a pleasure to visit while I'm there visiting with them. You can bring your dogs to walk there, too, did you know that? They just can't do the tour! : ) Thanks for posting!
I saw it over my spring break.I love money and big homes and stuff, but this guy had way the hell too much money! Id live there, but i would seriously redo the bathrooms and put maps all over the place.lol.
Thanks for the video-now I can convince friends to go!! It's an unbelievable place!
