  • Very easy to Renzo!

  • renzo gets way more respect than rickson. least he fought some real fighters. yeah rickson fought in pride. against a pro wrestler...who never did shit in MMA

  • @rayallen0 I love the ignorant generation of new fans that don't understand what Pride was supposed to be. The only reason Takada fought Rickson was because the entire Pride audience was made up of UWFi fans. NOBODY would have attended those Pride shows if Takada wasn't in the mainevent. Pride then tried to pay Rickson to lose to Takada in their second match, because after Takada lost the first time, the fan base took a major hit. No Takada = no Pride.

  • @PunkRingOfHonorX i know who Takada is....he still isnt a great fighter. stop acting like a hipster "im better cuz i knew of pride before you" lmfao. on rewatch Rickson was impressive as shit in that 1st fight and i will say he is an amazing fighter. Unfortunatly he never took on any real competition.

  • @rayallen0 I'm not claiming Takada was a good fighter. He had no legitimate skills. But he was still a huge star in Japan that was already considering retiring after the UWFi folded. He only fought Rickson because it was going to do huge business at the Tokyo Dome and be his way of 'cashing out' of his career. Rickson was old, but his skills in MMA are largely exaggerated. He only ever fought washed up pro wrestlers and dodged Rutten and Sakuraba who wanted to avenge his mentor, Takada.

  • @PunkRingOfHonorX well rutten career ended soon after rickson's. As for Rickson dodging he retired after his son died and wanted to be with his family only. i would not call Masakatsu Funaki a washed up pro wrestler. he is a legend like sakarabu and rickson beat him. i would put Sakuraba ahead of him just off his pride 2 showing. but Rickson was def the best fighter of Pride 1.

  • @rayallen0 Funaki was a good fighter in his day, but by 2000 he was washed up and battling injuries. He had 50 fights in Pancrase over 6 years. That's a ridiculous schedule for any fighter.

  • @PunkRingOfHonorX as it stands Rickson didnt accomplish much in his career. but anybody who watched him fight closely and knows MMA can see how much skill Rickson had in his fights against Takada (well ive only seen the first one so far). It would of been nice to see him against Bas or Sakarabu like you said they wanted. Just like i wish Marco Ruas or Oleg Taktarov had won against a top notch fighter (Tank & Goodridge being the best wins on their records)

  • @PunkRingOfHonorX or don frye for that matter as the biggest name on his list of victories was Ken Shamrock who was past his prime. then Goodridge & Tank also on his list of victories. Oleg also beat a fat Mark Kerr. These are all legends and some of the best fighters of all time. I'm just ranting here.

  • Great skills!

  • If it where'n for the gracies teachings there wouldn't be armbars or leglocks in mma.

They started it all 80 years later some learned but one mastered in mma. So they taught them because they teach and fighting is advertizing and alot of fun. = THe gracie legacy and hughes bane

  • @lindarmusic Get a little education... The Gracies learned those arm bars, leg locks and just about everything they know from Japanese Ju-Jitsu.

  • renzo is so insect like in his movement. weird. but perfect text book gracie jj.

  • sick

  • Renzo Gracie vs Fedor Emelianenko i would love to see that fight =D

  • Why?! You must hate Henzo, cuz he might actually get killed...

  • renzo gracie in his prime..one of the best..

  • brazilian jiu jitsu in the best....

    brazil forever

  • looks more like some form of gay kamasutra to me

  • HAHAH Yeah right jiu jitsu best many people have beaten jit jitsu already and brazil forever hahaha yeah right you mean brazil like a dump full of crime and illegals aliens hahaha

  • Grapplers rule the Earth. It doesn't matter what art they practice: Jujitsu in any of its variants, Judo, Submission Wrestling, even Sambo. We walk tall among striking midgets such as taekwondokas, karatekas, savatekas, kickboxers, muay thai fighters, and the shortest of them all, boxers.

Sure we can have one bad day! But that's normal in fighting arts; it only proves nothing is perfect, as all of us already know. You still can't deny the obvious: we're way better.

  • BJJ, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, by Helio Gracie

  • gracie all legende

  • ha ha renzo should thank Japanese who invented Jit Jitsu. If it was not for them Brazilian will not know this techniques. But yes other martial artist have beaten gracies before. :)

  • @thewebmogul ah yes... Thank God for the Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie fight!! One of my top 5 all time favorite fights.

  • muarice smith was the first striker to win UFC he beat many grapplers using his kick boxing skills, he also beat many Bjj fighters on the way. this video proves that renzo gracie was a better fighter and not that BJJ is better than kick boxing.

  • or maybe renzo has better bjj than the grapplers smith fought? (this is the correct answer)

  • The gracies changed the whole world, taught people u can go to the ground with a larger opponent and kick his ass

  • To eberone that doesn't train saying this is an Americana/Keylock or a Kimura... It isn't. It's a figure-four traight armlock. Just like the one Hughes did on Royce.

  • Renzo walked right over him as if it were nothing!

  • é verdade ele merecia uma revanche com o sakuraba =D

  • Wow, Maurice was a bog boy. I think he probably outweighed Renzo by close to 40 pounds!

  • A top man.

  • What song is this?

  • Nice Keylock!

  • strait armbar*

  • Nice Keylock!

  • Renzo is awesome and he deserves to be named a LEGEND!

    A humble warrior!

  • @majbritt1 Nothing humble about Renzo--he's an ego maniac (he demands respect even when he gets his ass kicked). Great fighter though....nice move, triangle from side control.....

  • @JustAManism LOL. What video did you watch. That was a straight arm lock. No triangle. Not even a triangle attempt.

  • @dredned Ahhh Grasshopper, watch more closely; at about 0:48 Renzo throws his left leg over (behind) Smith's head and locks it behind his right, traping Smith's head and arm--a wierd position, but a "triangle" none the less. And I realize that he subed him with the arm lock--the triangle was just a control position/distraction....

  • Renzo, grande guerreiro. Luta com quem for. Cai pra dentro com qualquer um. E alem de tudo, a sua humildade! Exemplo de um grande atleta pra qualquer esportista! Forte abraco, Renzo!

  • I dont know if this has been stated already but here it goes... Rickson has fought mma 11 times. the gracies consider grappling matches fights and yes he is undefeated in hundreds of them. He is definitely the best grappler that ever of our era. So stop whining Start training

  • rickson 460 fights? what a joke. no gracie alive besides his family even believes that shit. don't believe me, go talk to the gracie barra guys. all rickson does is talk smack. when wanderlei silva, fedor, bas, sakuraba challenged rickson, he declined kuz he would've gotten a beat-down like what matt hughes did to royce. get real man. ' nuff said

  • Oh yeah this was one of Renzo's quickest wins Ive seen. It seemed like he was on a fuckin' mission. Thats how he needs to be for every fight. The rules have changed since no rules fighting and I don't care what any1 says: Renzo Gracie is one of the best!

  • Listen, theres no question that bjj is bad ass,and the gracies are the baddest of them all...that being said,,,as a long time bouncer i can tell you...when you take a guy to the ground on the outside, you leave ur back wide open for his friend to bust a barstool over the back of your head....one on one bjj cant be beat, but you gotta remember that ur rarely in a one on one...

  • yes but you tell me what system can beat multiple attackers..and i will show you a bullshitter..as soon as it becomes more that one attacker your chances of coming out unharmed are almost zero but yes i agree with you on the comment about leaving you back open..but hey!! whadddya do? lol

  • you start using anything laying around. If you cant pick it up, you throw your opponent into it. Bounce heads off of sidewalks slam ppl into bar railings, brick walls, dumpsters....oh and for the pick up items...bricks, rocks, chairs beer bottles. And the whole time laugh and cackle and scream like youve just gone psychotic. Hell, in a situation like that you might have actually gone psycho at that point from adrenaline.

  • Everybody wants to crap on the Gracie's now that they brought you their style of Jiu-Jitsu. They brought you the UFC (Rorion and Art Davies created the show and owned the rights before selling it after UFC5) Carlos, Helio trained many students and most of the top schools are from the tutelage of the Gracies. Brazilian Top Team all were students of Carlson Gracie, Alliance Master Romero Calvacanti got his black belt from Rolls Gracie who got his belt from Helio. Now the Gracies aren't good enough

  • Gracie should of done a fart! ;O

  • this video is destroyed....

fuck the music and speciall effects !!! :@

  • snaps....

if this stuff was taught to the oppressed....we would get this sweet life in line lol

  • hi,can any one tell me how this fight ends?

i mean what type of submissin is this ?

    thnks

  • Renzo caught Maurice with an Americana or ude garami keylock.

  • straight arm lock

  • ok now that I took a second look at the end position it was a straight position but I think he went for the americana first and Maurice twisted out of it.

  • Renzo is an outstanding representative of BJJ and the Gracie family. He's better than pretty good, good and all of the toned down versions of outstanding. HE IS A MONSTER and has consistantly put everything on the line against the best of the best and came out the victor moreso than not. He leads from the front and has proven himself worthy of being mentioned as one of the greatest to ever do it hands down. Anyone that says anything else is drinking that hater-aid.. straight, no ice!

  • Your right about Renzo. You need to watch him train with his students in NewYork at the school. They put on a good show

  • TOO bad Frank Shamrock KO Renzo out!

  • LOL TOO bad Frank Shamrock broke the rules and got disqualified!

  • In a real fight there are no rules so! So Renzo would of got KO by anyone in that situation.

  • Well if you remember this fight correctly Renzo got an early takedown and was working to improve his position when the ref brought them to standing way too fast imo. In a real fight there is no ref... no time limits...

I thought Frank caught a big break right then, that's why I was disappointed by his comments about it being a "fight" at the end like it's some sort of street fight or something.

  • You guys are a bunch of babies! in a real fight after Frank had been taken down he would have gotten finished! Come on since when did a Gracie ever have a problem finishing you from the bottom once on top! Bottom line Frank cheated because he knew he was about to get tapped, so he panicked and threw the knees, Frank knew the damm rules and he cheated because he couldn't escape the side mount! Frank this Frank that he fuckin cheated to save his ass that's what happened. Praising a fuckin loser!

  • I have to agree with you! But Frank is still a bad ass and still a legend!

  • I'm just talking about that one particular incident with Frank. Frank has proven himself to be a warrior, but I felt he knew he was in a tough situation and instead of gutting it out and finding away out I think he was thinking more about his rep and how folks would respond to him getting tapped out by a Gracie so he panicked and broke the rules, knowingly breaking them and then tried to justify it with an ignorant statement such as "Hell I came to fight" he panicked and got disqualified!

  • Frank did it on purpose? Yeah, right. You know how easy it is to accidently hit a guy in the back of the head when you're both on the ground? Happens all the time. See how Renzo celebrates over a downed opponent in this video. He constantly displays bad sportsmanship time and time again.

  • Renzo and Maurice are buddies, heck Maurice even came over to the school in NewYork! I'm just saying Frank knew he was in a bad position, he knew the rules, and he broke them, heck he panicked, he didn't want to lose to Renzo so he used the knee! Franks been in many MMA fights he knows there are no knees to the back of the opponents head. Just like you know you can't stick your fingers in your opponents eyes, no knees Frank knew this but he had to get out of Renzo's side guard and he couldn't!

  • Frank may have known the rules, but it's very easy to aim for the side of the head and accidently hit the back of the head.

  • I agree with u vince, it seems like Frank should know exactly all the rules. Renzo was beating him the whole fight. Frank's all about beating the other guy at his own game, but he couldn't beat Renzo on the ground. Look at the Cung Le fight, he got his arm broken blocking his kicks. I do admitt though that it seems Renzo was acting a little bit to get that win. Ive seen that fight over and over, but Frank fucked up and Renzo took advantage of it. I'd really like 2 see a Renzo vs Frank part 2.

  • Great observation on all points Mike!

  • what do you mean acting to get the win? Thats what these comps are based on.... winning.

  • HOw is that bad sportsmanship, he's celebrating the win you fool, not a downed opponent, learn a little more about fihgting before you talk shit again, especially about a Gracie

  • I probably know of more Renzo fights than you. Isn't Renzo the one that stepped on someone's head after the fight (Ben Spijkers?). Isn't Renzo the one that clapped over a downed oponent after he broke his arm?

  • WOW, you're dumb kid, first Renzo Gracie wouldn't of got KO because he does BJJ, he would've brought the fight to the ground like he did in this fight and did the same thing, submit, that's the point of BJJ, if you know that you won't lose, and plus REnzo fought street fights and guess what, he did the same hting and still won so know what DUMB FUCK!!!! learn about fighting before you talk shit!!

  • REX KWON DO!

  • HAHAHAHA!! You think anyone wants a round house to the face while Im wearin these bad boys? Forget about it@

  • renzo is a jiu jitsu monster. he absolutely destroyed mo there. respect

  • Good video, good fight, tough guys, Gracie's pretty good. What's the name of the song track playing in the background?

  • All martial arts have something to offer. The more you learn, the better fighter you become. Just like we don't go to school learning one subject.

  • RENZO GRACIE RULES!

  • it started in 1860s well over a century old

  • Renzo at his best!

  • nice triangle/americana combo! gotta remember that one

  • What song is this

  • I like all the Gracies, they are the reason why I started to train in Jiu-Jitsu. I can't beleive how fast Renzo took out Maurice Smith and he's known for knocking out grapplers. In my opinion I think Renzo is one of the best in the Gracie family. He's fought some tough guys. Rickson is very good but he hasn't fought in years. I want to see how Rickson does against this new breed of mma fighters that can stand and fight on the ground. I like seeing Renzo fight, you learn a lot by watching him.

  • Rickson is gonna be 50 in less than 2 years. His mma days are likely over

  • Maurice Smith is a former Muay Thai champ. He practices no grappling. Naturally, Renzo would walk right over him.

  • Actually I used to train with maurice in mma and he did practice grappling. He just sucked at it.

  • man why do you got to make this look like it took place in 1954? This fight was in the late 90's, wasn't it?

  • do I know anything about fighting?!?...I am a Gracie...I'm sure I do!!

  • Gracies don't know shit about fighting but they do know about jiujitsu...BJJ is a joke in a real balls out fight

  • I'm not a huge Gracie or Jiu-Jitsu fanatic, but if you think BJJ is a joke in a real fight, you don't know much about BJJ. On top of that, Renzo's actually a surprisingly good kickboxer.

  • in mma its good but that's where it ends you cant do the "Gracie" meaning lay on your back in guard and wait to be mounted in a real fight...i prefer more agressive shoot fighting

  • your crazy to think that gracie jiu jitsu isnt effective in a fight.look at the original ufc's They were basically street fights and royce beat everybody and royce isn't even that great of a fighter and by the way royce shot on everybody.

  • Why don't you go and fight one of the gracies and really see if what you say is true. Go ahead I dare you. IDIOT!

  • Why don't you go and blow one of the gracies.Go ahead I dare you.

  • Is that all you can say? Go ahead go find royce or renzo and jump them in the street to really find out for yourself if their bjj doesnt work in a "real" fight. Yeah I thought so, having second thoughts eh? You wimp!

  • wow if bjj doesnt mean anything in a fight, then tell me why i made a dude pass out in a street fight with a guillotene choke when he got me onto the ground? you dont have any idea what your talking about. and this dude was twice my size

  • the only this you made pass out was your pillow yambag.

  • another keyboard warrior! lol you guys make me piss myself with all your shit talking. first of all i wasnt talking to you rtdproductions. so why dont you go fuck your mother somemore...go hump somebodys elses like muttface before i push yours in!

  • I've gotten guys in guillotines before I even knew what it was, it is instintive. Man created self defense forms Alexander the Great Spread Pankration throughout the world. People adopted their own styles. Japanese made judo(throws and ground subs)jujitsu came from this then Gracie pretended it was their own.

  • Your thinking of a street fight as if everyone knows fighting techniques. what are the odds that i may happen to fight a champion kickboxer. since i started jiu jitsu i've been in one street fight. i was jumped by 3 guys and i just kept shooting and putting them on they're backs. just being able to not allow them to put me on my back saved me from getting my ass beat. helio gracie offered 50g's to anyone who could beat him in a "street fight" no one could do it

  • I bet Kimura could...wait he did and broke his shoulder

  • Thats good but shooting isn't really part of GJJ. They start from the ground, that has always been my complaint. If they would still keep the throws that Kodokan Judo showed them it would be more effective.

  • yea one guy and i wouldnt exactly call that a street fight that was a multiple world champion judo player who was 80 pounds heavier and takedowns are absolutely a part of gracie jiu jitsu the ground is just what is emphasized because in a street fight it isnt very difficult to get the fight to the ground in mma yea you need to do more wrestling and such to be able to compete

  • and also everybody has a punchers chance in a fight but in general someone who knows gracie jiu jitsu will be able to controle someone who doesnt. i'm not saying shoot fighting is bad in a street fight it would work well agaisnt someone who knows nothing the same way jiu jitsu would but all the best shoot fighters are usually high level jiu jitsu guys too (wanderlei silva, anderson silva, shogun, etc.)

  • I agree but shootfighters have different objectives then GJJ guys shoot is more aggesive and use aggresive subs

  • Takedowns are a part of GJJ...

  • Really, so how come that Rickson Gracie fought a lot of people on the street and beat the FUCK out of everyone he fought, he has a fight recoerd of 460+ and 0 loses, so they can fight you fucking moron, look on youtube about him, they show his fights and he ALWAYS WINS, so learn about fighting before you talk shit DUMB FUCK!!!!!!!!

  • You should watch your language and finish your High school education! You'll need it for the real world!

  • pfff that doesn´t say anything, and all of the fights available in the web are against really weak guys not to mention the made up fixed fights he did in pride

  • exactly. he only fought one guy in mma worth fighting. and what about his loss to ron tripp he tries to cover up? even his dad disputes his record

  • Rickson ducked Bas Rutten and Sakuraba though.

  • don't be so pathetic by the name BJJ it usually reigns on the mat, but not so much on the street. I've seen a lot who tried and many have failed to prove its effectivity on the street. No offense, but i've slammed a lot of BJJ experts who've always wanted to get public approval.

  • LOL @ you... BJJ is the ONLY art actually formed from fighting on the street noob

  • Jiujistsu was formed from samuri's fighting in full armor without weapons so striking would not be effective...but in actual street striking is your best bet inflict most amount of pain with least effort while keeping a safe distance away

  • Thats the tradidtional Japanese jujutsu your talking about... BJJ is a modern art... less then 100 years old

  • BJJ is a rip off of kotokan judo centuries old from japan they just changed the names to the subs

  • I agree. Unless you're the aggressive street-thug, if you ever get into a street fight, the idea is to get away ASAP un-injured. Going to ground is great when you've got several friends to watch your back, but what if you're the lone guy and he's got frinds with beer bottles to crack your head with. BTW Most street-thugs do their MMA too, and carry arms. Heard of the Heavy-weight Boxing Champ who got shot? Don't fight when you can walk away.

  • No one can compete with our fighting...we are the best...If you fight us you will lose...all of you people dissing us are just little kids who doesn't even know fighting...Gracies Are #1

  • Wouldnt go that far need some striking I mean cannot depend purely on grappling these days. I mean look at guys like GSP, Bj Penn wont be able to always take them down need some striking, Noguiera is a good example clean boxing with some slick BJJ.

  • These days you need striking since people are now familiar with the game.

  • GracieJJ reminds me of the karate kid he gets the shit beat out of him but wins the tournament

  • gracie jiu-jitsu gets the job done every time!

  • Tell that to Sakuraba. LOL

  • this maurice is very bad. Where in the hell did he come from? lol. Renzo didn't even sweet

  • Do you know anything about MMA??

  • Do you?

  • Renzo keeps the name of gracie jiu jitzu up high....

  • both great fighters

  • OWNED

  • Doesn't matter about who beats who, it's the journey they took. All these ppl dissing Renzo just cause Saku beated him needs to see the long list of defeats that Saku has also. Does that mean Saku isn't a great fighter? Great fight and Renzo's one of the most classiest mma fighter.

  • Renzo one of the classiest guys in MMA? I've seen at least 2 fights where he hit someone after the fight was stopped.

  • great technique

  • he had two submissions at once. the triangle from the side mount and the straight armbar on Maurices left arm. amazing

  • Renzo is the best MMA fighter of the Gracies.

  • right guys...don't forget his ass got beat by sakuraba

  • nah, he made a mistake, very good fight.

  • well sakuraba is not exactly a can

  • Yeah his arm was twisted into a pretzel by Saku, but he has since been humbled and is a likable guy.

  • Renzo is a fucking technical genius. in control of every limb and piece of his body. and a really nice guy too.

  • Yeah you see the Hendo 1-2 Rocky Marciano blasts on Renzo? That was technical all right....a Technical Knock Out

  • Mo's still cool though!

  • Mo got a free jiu-jitsu lesson.

  • bjj rules

  • PWNT !

  • Hahaha WAR Renzo. Right on.
