Nice to see French improve their war record with a bang! In all honesty though I'm very happy that the French airforce has played in instrumental role in maintaining stability in her former colonies in Africa and have been helping us out in Afghanistan. And the Rafale is truly a work of art!

@chenoir The Rafale isnt a bad plane in fact i really like it but it's over 30 years old and it's not superior to the Eurofighter that is just not possible. The Germans also make the best firearms like the G36 the MG3. The best military plane today is the Russian SU-37.
The Rafale development began after the Eurofighter's one, so in fact Eurofighter is older than Rafale (to be exact, Dassault was part of the Eurofighter group but left when France said wanting an omnirole fighter while all other only wanted an interceptor. But still, Eurofighter group took all they could about delta winged fighters).
And yet, even if german are good at firearmes, they haven't build a single military fighter plane since WWII alone.

It is not 8 variations of the same basic Mirage design. Mirage III, Mirage 5, Mirage F1, Mirage 2000, Mirave IV, etc... are completely different aircrafts fit for different rôles. Uh, nope. Except if you think an aircraft is limited to it's wing, in case Mirage are all the same. But they are completely different. Only the wing-format stay between two Dassault fighters, and they haven't the same shape, so I disagree. Everything else you say is wrong too. Body shape is completely different, in fact the only Dassault Aircrafts that share almost the same design are Mirage III and Mirage 2000, but sthing like 30 years separate them.
Anyway it doesn't invalidate the fact that Dassault alone conceived and built (and made evolve) more different fighter than both UK, Germany, Italy and Spain united. Plus as they have made many delta-winged fighter they master it while the Eurofighter have been made by people who had absolutely no previous experience, thus discovering this wing very particular wing shape. Not a guarantee of success to me.
Plus, believe me or not, but just changing the engine on a plane make it totally different. You have to adapt the cell to the engine, commands, etc... and the way the aircraft behace, the role you can assign them change alot. In fact, except for the general shape, almost everything is different because aircraft making is a very specific technologic domain.

Pour ce qui est du commanche, c'est un projet qui ne verra finalement pas le jour (fabrication en série car des prototypes, au nombre de 3 volent ou volaient) car trop cher et très peu adapté aux guerres actuelles. Alors que le Tigre, grâce à son avionique exceptionnelle (viseur strix) répond parfaitement aux attentes
@biscottedeluxe Le rafale est l'un des meilleurs avions du monde. Pourquoi ? Déjà comparons ce qui est comparable. Le Raptor US n'a rien a voir vu que c'est un pure Air to Air jet. Notre Rafale, lui, est un avion multirôle (l'équivalent du F-35 américain qui n'est toujours pas en service). Hormis cela, aux derniers ATLC le Rafale F3 a écrasé la concurrence (l'eurofighter principalement).
Enfin bref, nous n'avons aucune "guerre de retard", ça ne fonctionne pas comme ça, loin de là.
Même pas. Le F-35 c'est l'équivalent du Harrier en mieux, mais en aucun cas du Rafale. Je suis même pas sur que le F-35 soit capable d'engager en même temps des cibles aériennes et terrestres. Qui plus est sa capacité d'emport est extrêmement limitée et son système de décollage vertical (qui tient plus du gadget que de la caractéristique utile) le plombe grandement, réduisant grandement son rayon d'action.

Pour le reste je ne peux pas me prononcer, je n'en sais pas assez, alors je te crois du parole.
@chenoir Les enjeux économiques étant fort dans ce domaine on peut compter sur les américains pour faire un avion hors normes. Le Rafale a la chance d'avoir une capacité évolutive très bonne, il sera donc toujours un énorme concurrent pour les américains.
Le décollage vertical a un certain intérêt c'est certain. Pour décoller d'un porte-avion de taille réduit comme les font les anglais par exemple, ou d'une FARP. Mais soyons honnête, avec les PA que se payent les ricains ca n'a absolument aucune utilité, et le déploiement sur une FARP est une utopie, la consommation en carburant d'un tel système consomme tellement de carburant qu'il faudrait presque brancher un pipeline sur la FARP pour que ca fonctionne correctement.
@chenoir Je pense que les américains voient vers le futur avec ce genre d'outil. La poussée vectorielle et le décollage verticale (développé ainsi) sont des innovations dans le monde de l'aviation. Quand ces outils seront devenus des standards dans l'industrie militaire, les américains disposeront des brevets et d'une technologie bien maîtrisée.
Vers le futur peut-être, il n'empêche que si la poussée vectorielle possède un potentiel certain et un réel intérêt, le décollage vertical sur un avion consomme trop pour avoir une réelle utilité, surtout quand on possède des hélicoptères de combats modernes aux capacités incroyables et qui peuvent voler jusqu'à 400 Km/h en consommant nettement moins. En ce qui concerne le F-35, ca me donne carrément l'impression d'avoir répondre aux fantasmes des militaristes américains.
@chenoir, Les Anglais viennent de décider d'abandonner la version à décollage verticale du F-35, les Italiens et les Espagnols eux doivent commencer à se faire du soucis, il va leur coûter une fortune pour une efficacité assez douteuse. And the EF-2000 is far inferior to the Rafale both on ground strikes and air combat, that has been proben by the evaluation commissionned by the Swiss Air Force, the Rafale is superior on EVERY point to the Eurofailter.

The Rafale development began after the Eurofighter's one, so in fact Eurofighter is older than Rafale (to be exact, Dassault was part of the Eurofighter group but left when France said wanting an omnirole fighter while all other only wanted an interceptor. But still, Eurofighter group took all they could about delta winged fighters).
And yet, even if german are good at firearmes, they haven't build a single military fighter plane since WWII alone.

Same with Spain, Italy and UK. The only modern fighter project they did was the Panavia Tornado IDS, and it's a late 70 fighter/bomber, and even if it was good, it was not excellent.
In the same time, Dassault conceived and built alone 8 different fighters, including the Mirage 2000. Each have been continuously improved, including better equipment. With all they aircraft, Dassault mastered advanced electronic controls, delta-wings aerodynamics and avionics

It is not 8 variations of the same basic Mirage design. Mirage III, Mirage 5, Mirage F1, Mirage 2000, Mirave IV, etc... are completely different aircrafts fit for different rôles. It's not because their name begin identically that they are identical fighters. Plus in these 8 I include Etendard, SEM and others.
It's like saying "F-16, F-15, F-14, F-111, F-22, F-35, Bah, they are all variations of the same "F" design, not different fighters".

@chenoir er all the Mirages apart from the F1 with the different wings are the same basic design. It's not just their name, it's the single powerplant, delta-wing, design, man. A child can see it. Maybe it's because the delta-wing is a great design, but your argument is bullshit re: F16 vs. F15 - they are all significantly different body shapes, wing shapes, powerplant and such. OK F15-to-F22 the wings are similar, but not as bloody similar as a Mirage to ANY OTHER Mirage, just face it!

Uh, nope. Except if you think an aircraft is limited to it's wing, in case Mirage are all the same. But they are completely different. Only the wing-format stay between two Dassault fighters, and they haven't the same shape, so I disagree. Everything else you say is wrong too. Body shape is completely different, in fact the only Dassault Aircrafts that share almost the same design are Mirage III and Mirage 2000, but sthing like 30 years separate them.

Anyway it doesn't invalidate the fact that Dassault alone conceived and built (and made evolve) more different fighter than both UK, Germany, Italy and Spain united. Plus as they have made many delta-winged fighter they master it while the Eurofighter have been made by people who had absolutely no previous experience, thus discovering this wing very particular wing shape. Not a guarantee of success to me.

Plus, believe me or not, but just changing the engine on a plane make it totally different. You have to adapt the cell to the engine, commands, etc... and the way the aircraft behace, the role you can assign them change alot. In fact, except for the general shape, almost everything is different because aircraft making is a very specific technologic domain.

In fact, Dassault was a pioneer of horizon-level vertical take off (see Dassault Balzac, which reactor design is today used for the F-35. So on one side you have 4 countries with low to moderate fighter building experience, on the other hand you have one enterprise with high fighter-building experience and who had plenty of time to master their new fighter conception through all their previous aircrafts. @OutlawDaPain The Germans (and other European) countries made the Eurofighter which is much better than the Rafale which is overr 30 years old. The F-18 Super Hornet is just 10 years old. The rafale did not see any real combat (air to air), the F-18 did.

And at 1.13 it is a tank. So you are probably right, because I noticed that most of the targets are situated near roads or in an a location that does not look like afghanistan. but there are still some that are confirmed targets in Afghan (ex: 2.28)

@biscottedeluxe Juste une précision à apporter par rapport au Tigre ( je ne parle que de ce que je connais) Il semble que cet hélicoptère fasse vraiment ses preuves en afghanistan. Pour ce qui est du commanche, c'est un projet qui ne verra finalement pas le jour (fabrication en série car des prototypes, au nombre de 3 volent ou volaient) car trop cher et très peu adapté aux guerres actuelles. Alors que le Tigre, grâce à son avionique exceptionnelle (viseur strix) répond parfaitement aux attentes

@biscottedeluxe Le rafale est l'un des meilleurs avions du monde. Pourquoi ? Déjà comparons ce qui est comparable. Le Raptor US n'a rien a voir vu que c'est un pure Air to Air jet. Notre Rafale, lui, est un avion multirôle (l'équivalent du F-35 américain qui n'est toujours pas en service). Hormis cela, aux derniers ATLC le Rafale F3 a écrasé la concurrence (l'eurofighter principalement).
Enfin bref, nous n'avons aucune "guerre de retard", ça ne fonctionne pas comme ça, loin de là.

Même pas. Le F-35 c'est l'équivalent du Harrier en mieux, mais en aucun cas du Rafale. Je suis même pas sur que le F-35 soit capable d'engager en même temps des cibles aériennes et terrestres. Qui plus est sa capacité d'emport est extrêmement limitée et son système de décollage vertical (qui tient plus du gadget que de la caractéristique utile) le plombe grandement, réduisant grandement son rayon d'action.

@chenoir Non non je maintiens le F-35 est l'équivalent du Rafale (en tant qu'avion de chasse multirôle). J'ai assisté a une présentation en simulateur. Et l'avionique est vraiment similaire.
Sinon oui il peut engager plusieurs cibles terrestres simultanément, et ce très rapidement (moins d'une minute pour 3 ou 4 cibles).
Je suis plutôt d'accord, le décollage vertical tiens plus du gadget que du réel outil. Il a un intérêt certain mais a ce prix la...

Multirole oui mais pas omnirole. Du moins il n'a pas encore prouvé qu'il était capable d'engager à la fois des cibles aériennes et terrestres alors que le Rafale l'a prouvé en tirant en même temps 6 AASM et 3 Micas avec succès sur des cibles différentes. Pour le reste je ne peux pas me prononcer, je n'en sais pas assez, alors je te crois du parole.

Le décollage vertical a un certain intérêt c'est certain. Pour décoller d'un porte-avion de taille réduit comme les font les anglais par exemple, ou d'une FARP. Mais soyons honnête, avec les PA que se payent les ricains ca n'a absolument aucune utilité, et le déploiement sur une FARP est une utopie, la consommation en carburant d'un tel système consomme tellement de carburant qu'il faudrait presque brancher un pipeline sur la FARP pour que ca fonctionne correctement.

Quand ces outils seront devenus des standards dans l'industrie militaire, les américains disposeront des brevets et d'une technologie bien maîtrisée.

Vers le futur peut-être, il n'empêche que si la poussée vectorielle possède un potentiel certain et un réel intérêt, le décollage vertical sur un avion consomme trop pour avoir une réelle utilité, surtout quand on possède des hélicoptères de combats modernes aux capacités incroyables et qui peuvent voler jusqu'à 400 Km/h en consommant nettement moins. En ce qui concerne le F-35, ca me donne carrément l'impression d'avoir répondre aux fantasmes des militaristes américains.

@chenoir, Les Anglais viennent de décider d'abandonner la version à décollage verticale du F-35, les Italiens et les Espagnols eux doivent commencer à se faire du soucis, il va leur coûter une fortune pour une efficacité assez douteuse. Le Rafale est un excellent avion qui va encore évoluer dans l'avenir. C'est un beau petit exploit que la France ai réussi à développer un tel avion et seul. Personnellement je le trouve trop sexy.

Tu te gourres. Le F-22 est un avion uniquement de supériorité aérienne avec une capacité d'emport très très limitée. En ce qui concerne les combats urbains, aucun MBT n'y est adapté, mais si tu regardes les conflits actuels c'est pour beaucoup du combat en terrain ouvert, et la les capacités du Leclerc sont totalement exceptionnelles. Et finalement, le Comanche n'est qu'un rêve. Un beau rêve mais seulement un rêve.

@sebyiiy Si c'est à cause de l' Afghanistan , alors tu peux garder ton amour de la fwance = ce sont nos soldats ,notre fric , mais au service de nos pires ennemis . Tout juste comme les GI . Pire que la défaite:se battre contre ses propres intérêts ! Faut être déficient du bulbe pour accepter cette honte! Ces jeunes mecs tuent et se font tuer pour que l' Héroïne arrive dans le sang de leur fils. La parole média ne vaut pas un cent ,donc seuls les faits parlent droit : et ils sont énoormes !!!
