They could do whatever they want with the new challenger or charger but they will never be able to match this gorgeous JET BLACK 1974 Javelin AMX. This is the sweetest ride I have ever seen.
@SoftSoapHanded Two different cars in '68, '69' & '70. 1971 to 1974, the sporty option for the Javelin was the Javelin/AMX. The true AMX ended in '70.
YouTube's comment section has been screwed up since they started changing the format..what was wrong with the original format ? ...the car needs a tune up it's smoking
In 1971, as a freshman in high school, I got a job detailing cars at a "Rambler" Dealership in Fresno, Ca. I got to drive AMX's and Jav's all day long, back and forth from the main lot and the detail shop. Didn't sound like this one, but, sure was fun!
Bad Ass Vehicle.... My father owned one the same year and color.... Car's front-end hopped off the ground no problem.... Sold the car to a Paraplegic who just collected classics, and sadly he perished in a house fire in Plainville, Ct.. I want to find that car!
I have to ask, did all the guys do like me and smile when the guy went in the garage and started the engine? It's gotta be a guy thing when you hear an engine sound like that, It just makes you grin. My g/f looked at me and said what are you smiling about? I'm like DUH!
dvabel 1 the 401 v8 from American motors is like a 0.30-0.40 overbored 390 it has entirely forged internals so it can easily handle 500 to 750+ horsepower but it is nearly impossible to make a stroker motor out of it.
AMC used the same block from the 290 to the 401, they increased the displacement by stroking and boring out the same block, along with the the use of different heads, the reason u cant make a stroker out of a 401 is because it is already at the limits of the block. displacement of 401's has been upped to 420 by boring it out more, and the older 360, 390, and 401 came with a forged bottom end ie rods and crank, pistons were still cast and could fail, but swap the pistons and a 401 is bulletproof
not just the bore n stroke were different but the deck height, the 390 and 401 were taller blocks thats why they called them there big blocks.they make stroker kits for them now up 2 512 cubes. if im not mistaken they made very few race blocks with 500 cubes from AMC group 19
what are the spindels from on the wheels I have a 74 also 401c.i.d. .060 over 488* cam 727 torquflite and a 3.54 twin grip posi from a 72 javelin also have 2 chamber flowmasters on 2 1/2" pipe I do like the wheels thou.
Who the hell would dislike this???? Jealous big 3 fans....lol!
