I think this is one of the better SOAP themes these days, but all of them seem so washed out and generic, with their poses and stuff (trying too hard to be hip and modern)...all the shows are like that now. Days seems to be the only one that is kinda retro-ish and unique

In Italy we just have B&B that is named Beautiful...Y&R that is named Love Fever...GL that is named Paths. It's a real shame they don't show the others here. In the past they did...we had GH, ATWT and AMC that was name Pine Valley.
Have you considered downloading episodes via torrents? I mean that's the best way for overseas fans to keep in touch with soaps here, plus it makes it watching it on the go on your laptop/iPod that much more fun and convenient. It's only delayed by like 3 to 5 days. And that's how you keep the episodes you wanna re-live.
I haven't watched AMC faithfully in years. It had gone so downhill last I watched I just can't be bothered anymore. Very sad as it was once my can't-miss show.

Same guy, just not in any important storylines as of the moment. If you were watching I think about end of September, he was featured a lot with Sean and Colby, with his band members Ren and Corinna. I doubt they'd pull a "Josh" on his character. (Josh Madden, recasted within 2 weeks.)
Josh was recast after three months actually. Scott Kinworthy filled the part from June 17-September 15, 2005. Colin Egglesfield took over the role on September 22, 2005.
I must say with the addition of Ava, Lily looks much too young. They should have "Starr"ed her shot, but I guess it's not too noticeable. And if Hannah is gonna stick around, they better add her soon! This reminds me of them not adding Lily in the July update. They better not leave someone out each time! I hope that she just wasn't available to film a shot, and will be put in soon... that or leave town only for the sake of my not going crazy that she's not in it, LOL.
I don't mind JR and Babe getting back together but if the same stuff starts happening over again, with him not trusting her and while they're together she starts falling for Richie. Oh yeah, JR's hair is absolutely horrible. So greasy.
yeah, but del/sydney/danielle looked bad. the characters had no connections and you couldn't see any of them floating before they actually hit the screen. plus, they never had four again :(.
what they should do is get rid of the floating pictures since they obviously can't do them the same way anymore since they changed the program or whatever. The old ones were bomb though!
Oh, and I also hate the way you can't see the edges on the floating pictures. And the way Krystal and Del freeze before they float away. It's like someone hit pause on their clip while making it. It's funny that Krystal's head squishes hehe. I like how close they are though to the screen. :)

Livia's shot turned from side ways to face the screen then fly away. Mia's shot used a frame, a antique photo frame. Well at least with Dre, it went a different direction...
yeah, Dre was sweet. i thnk that's at least the mark of new beginnings. i really hated the few that had aidan going from normal to flying, that looked horrid. at least they took advantage of tad's two shots and made the second one fly away. very nicely done in my opinion. let's home the next version continues to try to remake the old ones with more double shots and more flying ones that look ok.
I can see Hannah put in like patch work, some full screen shot with the flipping page overlay between like Amanda and Josh. Or at best, giving her a spot between Tad and Krystal where her shot goes form full to flying.
Well, to be fair, Livia and Ethan had the same background used as nuBabe, so it's not totally out of place. And I think the green is not ugly, just like the blue, they're trying to make the layers more colorful. The only thing I dislike about this opening are the opening pictures, especially when we see the Ryan/Annie shot in two different frames, side by side.

This would be Dre, he is in the band that was practicing right next to Tad's place. Sterling Sulieman, the actor who plays Dre, is the only one who is on contract (the other two band members are recurring cast members). Since Stacy Haiduk (Hannah) came on board before the new Babe and Richie, which are both in the new opening, it is highly likely that she is not a contract player, but rather has a recurring role.
Recorded it myself, I have a TV Card and a A/V adaptor. In Canada, AMC/OLTL are shown under this channel called "A-Channel", while GH is shown under a channel called "CTV". Plus I have some MAD video editing skills.
Also I think they changed the style of the flying pictures to keep the characters closer to the screen. The old ones, though cooler and probably more expensive, were pretty far away.

There are 8 doubles of people (excluding Viki) which include: John, Natalie, Clint, Bo, Antonio, Cristian, Rex, Jessica... 9 sort of if you include the couples shot of Michael & Marcie.

He wasn't the winner of "I Wanna Be A SoapStar", Alec Musser (Del Henry) was. And I think Leven Rambin as Ava was on a trial basis to see if she could handle playing 2 roles, and no official contract to play two people was formalized.
You're right about Del. Sorry, I totally blanked. But it's still possible a different contract system could have been in place or something, especially with the Hannah thing. There's no reason for her not to be in it if the new Babe is. So do you know any of the stuff about OLTL I asked?

Scott Kinworthy who was the first Josh, was on contract but then recasted, and I dunno about Lamman Rucker who played Garret Williams; I think hewas on contract but just for a short time. And I doubt the excuse is "there's no room" because version 5 featured 36 on-contract cast members" and this one has only 28.
Rucker was indeed contract, a long-term contract for that matter. But with the return of Julia, they brought the Dragon story, and just decided to phase Garret out since Shari Headly was only on a short-term contract.
Well, Javier Morga, Chris Beetem, and Portia Reiners were all contract on OLTL. I think it is that the current ABC Soap Openers are getting harder to change with each update.
Does anyone know why Ava was only added now and not in the July version? Is it because Leven, though playing both, actually had not yet signed a contract to play Ava? Also, does anyone know if this is the first opening to start on a new cast member's first appearance? If so, maybe there's hope for faster updates! Is this the shortest amount of time a new character had been airing before being put into the opening (for Richie and Dre)?
Yeah I know, they're so slow at updating it. They missed their chance to add Brittany since her character will be leaving the show October 17. I heard that Lee's character will be recurring though... Oh well what do I know, (hahaha).
Oh and anothing thing, they can do away with the double appearances of some characters to make room for the new characters, like honestly OLTL hurry up and update!
finally they updated! not the best but at least its an update. funny how last fall/winter with the updates there was the problem of the blue tone on the 'flipping pages' effect and this year its a green tone like on ava's and richie
I guess it's to identify when it was added and if bigmacrr is right about ABC outsourcing the opening to another company, I guess they're lazy to stylize it differently.
I love the Ava shot so much, though! And I really like the way they went back to having two areas of three flying photos in a row. Dre's shot morphs in very well.
I still don't like the new format of the flying shots. It's like it's not even there the 2nd time around. What's the point. I miss the days of the "Ethan-Simone-Stuart-Livia" flying shots, at least that looked great. Now we have like some sort of cheesy fan-made rip off. Oh wells. ABC stop being lazy.
I'm into digital effects (its the field im going into) and I'm quite sure they hire an agency outside of ABC to do these openings. It probably costs less money to do it the way they do it now, but I totally agree, the flying thing made AMC stand out from the others!
I wouldn't mind Babe's shot, except for what I can only interpret to be white sheets hanging behind her? I think it is to cover up Alexa's shot while they tried to merge the two, because I think the white builds from right to left. Either way, I don't get why they didn't just use the spinning feature they did on the old Babe here? Can't they duplicate it?
It would look awkward if they duplicated it, they needed to do something new, cause I mean, if the new Greenlee duplicated what the old Greenlee did it would be a bit boring. Look at General Hospital; everytime they recast Carly, she takes the same post and action shot just like her predecessors. It's BORING.

Not necessarily. Scott Kinworthy ended up not working as Josh, that's why they replaced him with Colin Egglesfield. And as for the new Babe being added her first day, remember that that doesn't always apply. I think that the only other time that that happened was whenever Jennifer Bransonford replaced Tamara Braun as Carly on GH.
they even stuck in a new picture of babe and krystal at the end when the book is flipping. wow, i think that speaks volumes... they must be angry with alexa's decision to leave. its like, "look how fast we can replace you!"
I know I was like "Oh Snap". But they never changed the photo spread. In the second photo spread in the opening, the one with a large picture of Sean and Colby, there's a Chandler family photo of JR, Babe, Krystal and Adam with the original Babe still seen. I know it's not obvious to see but it's there.

You're right about Del. Sorry, I totally blanked. But it's still possible a different contract system could have been in place or something, especially with the Hannah thing. There's no reason for her not to be in it if the new Babe is. So do you know any of the stuff about OLTL I asked?

No clue about OLTL. I wish they would update... I'm tired of seeing the same opening for about a year now. I miss Evangeline.

Does anyone know if any other contract characters missed getting into the opening thus far? I think there were two a while back that missed it, but I don't think anyone was ever sure they were contract, or maybe just short-term contract.
And can anyone check to see if Hannah is listed in the contract credits? Thanks!

Scott Kinworthy who was the first Josh, was on contract but then recasted, and I dunno about Lamman Rucker who played Garret Williams; I think hewas on contract but just for a short time. And I doubt the excuse is "there's no room" because version 5 featured 36 on-contract cast members" and this one has only 28.

Rucker was indeed contract, a long-term contract for that matter. But with the return of Julia, they brought the Dragon story, and just decided to phase Garret out since Shari Headly was only on a short-term contract.

Well, Javier Morga, Chris Beetem, and Portia Reiners were all contract on OLTL. I think it is that the current ABC Soap Openers are getting harder to change with each update.

Does anyone know why Ava was only added now and not in the July version? Is it because Leven, though playing both, actually had not yet signed a contract to play Ava? Also, does anyone know if this is the first opening to start on a new cast member's first appearance? If so, maybe there's hope for faster updates! Is this the shortest amount of time a new character had been airing before being put into the opening (for Richie and Dre)?

Wow, the new opening looks great, but I hope One Life to Live updates theirs. They still have Spencer on their >;O
They need to add Sarah, Jared, Talia, Markko, Miles, and soon Lee and Gigi. Wow, that's a lot of new characters to cram in their :O

Yeah I know, they're so slow at updating it. They missed their chance to add Brittany since her character will be leaving the show October 17. I heard that Lee's character will be recurring though... Oh well what do I know, (hahaha).

finally they updated! not the best but at least its an update. funny how last fall/winter with the updates there was the problem of the blue tone on the 'flipping pages' effect and this year its a green tone like on ava's and richie

I guess it's to identify when it was added and if bigmacrr is right about ABC outsourcing the opening to another company, I guess they're lazy to stylize it differently.

I love the Ava shot so much, though! And I really like the way they went back to having two areas of three flying photos in a row. Dre's shot morphs in very well.

I still don't like the new format of the flying shots. It's like it's not even there the 2nd time around. What's the point. I miss the days of the "Ethan-Simone-Stuart-Livia" flying shots, at least that looked great. Now we have like some sort of cheesy fan-made rip off. Oh wells. ABC stop being lazy.

I'm into digital effects (its the field im going into) and I'm quite sure they hire an agency outside of ABC to do these openings. It probably costs less money to do it the way they do it now, but I totally agree, the flying thing made AMC stand out from the others!

I wouldn't mind Babe's shot, except for what I can only interpret to be white sheets hanging behind her? I think it is to cover up Alexa's shot while they tried to merge the two, because I think the white builds from right to left. Either way, I don't get why they didn't just use the spinning feature they did on the old Babe here? Can't they duplicate it?

It would look awkward if they duplicated it, they needed to do something new, cause I mean, if the new Greenlee duplicated what the old Greenlee did it would be a bit boring. Look at General Hospital; everytime they recast Carly, she takes the same post and action shot just like her predecessors. It's BORING.

Well, Haiduk was recurring the first time around, but I am pretty sure she is contract since she returned last month. AMC & OLTL usually only add newbies if they've been on for more than a month. Then the next update features the other new characters.

The whole month rule can't even be close to true. This one debuted on nuBabe's first day, lol. I think it has to do with long-term vs. short-term contract. Why bother putting short-term contract players in the shots?

I've read Lamman was either recurring or short-term contract, and his myspace says it was a limited return, and in an interview he says the same. As for Scott, they probably had to make sure he'd be around after his initial 13 week period (which he wasn't). Haiduk is probably only on short-term contract. Problem is, the credits don't distinguish between the two.

Not necessarily. Scott Kinworthy ended up not working as Josh, that's why they replaced him with Colin Egglesfield. And as for the new Babe being added her first day, remember that that doesn't always apply. I think that the only other time that that happened was whenever Jennifer Bransonford replaced Tamara Braun as Carly on GH.

they even stuck in a new picture of babe and krystal at the end when the book is flipping. wow, i think that speaks volumes... they must be angry with alexa's decision to leave. its like, "look how fast we can replace you!"

I know I was like "Oh Snap". But they never changed the photo spread. In the second photo spread in the opening, the one with a large picture of Sean and Colby, there's a Chandler family photo of JR, Babe, Krystal and Adam with the original Babe still seen. I know it's not obvious to see but it's there.
