Looks like a force 10. My name gives away what I've been in and that was in a 68ft yacht. 97knts it topped out at. The Biscay in a foul mood is a horrid place to be. So, hats of to the guys who do this for a living. Great video. Thanks
Well done, men! I consider it's important for common people (Politics included) to know how hard can become to carry goods for them, mainly for crews. BTW, my certificate, according SCTW, says 'Chief Officer', so I guess you know what we are speaking about. Nice day and, why don't? nice life.
I've been on one of those sort of ships, the one I was on was a cargo holder but when they're empty their top heavy to when you get rough waves the front tips up and they always roll to the side like that, and it's seriously scary because you think they're going to tip.
I went on one of those ships once and i'm not doing it again,at least not for a very long time *hats off to those brave people who make those crossings regularly*
The round thing on the window is a storm screen. In severe weather an electric motor spins the round glass very fast keeping the glass clear of sea spray and rain therefore maintaining some visibility when the windows are obscured.Much better than a windshied wiper.
Firemen are nothing!! these guys who do this day in day out are really brave. I'd climb a rock face, jump from a plane, bungee from a bridge pretty much anything. But i'd never be a sailor. So i guess i'm just half pussy!. :-)
@jimbob6791 Keep in mind that they are firemen as well! If fire breaks out in these weather conditions: What to do? Call the volunteer fire dept. from the next village, 2000 miles away? And they never know, what's inside the containers. The bad guys use to declare weapons and ammunition as "engine parts" or "used gas lighters". How to deal with the individual burning container? Or just abandon the ship? Jump into THESE waves...? It's the toughest job in the world, when bad comes to worse!

Good points. People take it for granted that they can have the stuff they want, without thinking of the effort taken to get it to them over the seas.
The colours are beautiful in this video, I think. Better than on land.

If you want to see even more massive waves, take a look at the video of the ship crossing Drake's Passage (video up on youtube).
