  • Funny to hear someone named punkeratheart talk about proper technique and guitar virtuosos. That's so punk.

  • Nice lesson. Good post.

    *Check my Tele demo.

  • makes guitar solos sound richer

  • Great lesson! What gauge strings are you using?

  • @tubesrule123

    I use 9's D'addario exl 120's

  • @tedspro Bore.

  • i really enjoy this lesson great pickin and great teaching thanks for the lesson, keep'em comin.

  • You are the only "teacher" I have seen on youtube that keeps his thumb BEHIND the neck, rather than allowing it to come over the top of the fingerboard other than when the scale or lick is done and he's muting. That is refreshing, because there are a lot of great players out there who could be twice as good and basically be virtuosos if they had been taught proper technique to begin with, but instead they become shredders who search for the guitar with the thinnest neck.

  • @punkeratheart i DO agree with that , period !

You got to inspire from classical and jazz if you wanna rock and shred . so , thumb behind the neck , please ! (you can put the thumb around the neck for some F chords for some finger-style tunes , though)

  • @heymisterjoe put a thumb up your ass too

  • @punkeratheart go kill urself and put your thumb up your ass

  • Howdy! Thanks fer this public service! - All the best, - Judd Jugmonger

  • Kickin' chicken pickin' !

  • Great lesson - thanks for the share. That first lick has just been stolen and will be appearing at a blues venue in Dorset, England very soon. Good job. best wishes - Smudge

  • HAHAHA! That was hilarious...

  • ha ha h ha ha ha

  • great post!

  • Thanks Ted and whomever posted this! This lick is so cool and so helpful! Sounds great clean on my Fenders and on the out of phase position on my Ibanez...

  • the positions imply the natural ionian D or D major positions using the relative five A . very helpful thanks.. cjw

  • Relative five A? As in "V?"

  • Thanks for the great lesson! Awesome

  • write "hernan gonzalez country boy" it's amazing!!

  • Hey Ted. Thanks man. Learned a lot today from watching this - not just playing the lick, but also how that all fits together. Man, I'm having trouble bending that last B on the G string though. Can't do it at all with my 3rd and 4th fingers - yet ;-)

Seems there are lots of us who need some good advice on here, please keep up the good work. Much appreciated.

  • you might try dropping the tuning a whole tone and putting a capo on the 2nd fret...slackens the strings a bit making bending easier

  • once you get the hang of it, lose the capo and tune up.Strings starting at 9 thou are a must my friend.Hope this helps

  • another way I learned to bend is to put 4th and 3rd fingers on the E and B strings, then bend the G string with ur 2nd finger(and 1st) if need be.

  • Double stops have been in country since the days of the "Country Boogie" style (late 30's-mid 50's). Found their way into rockabilly later on.

  • thanks bro cool lick!

  • Awesome cool lick!

  • Unbelievable teaching technique, showing how it sounds then going over it slow. I'm marking this one and thanks for sharing it. You really have something going her on Youtube. Thanks - Tetonoutdoors

  • going over it slowly is unbelievable? Yeah.. genius, I never would have thought of that
