i think Dr King was a populist. black populism during his time was quite popular amongst blacks. even today the majority of blacks are populists. they vote for the democratic party for economic reasons, even while holding socally conservative views.

What so many people who are uneducated on Dr. King didn't know is that he fought for "civil" rights. Not just blacks.He just wanted to unify the country and stop violence. @59Gretsch who cares or even knows if the adultery claims you make are true. I know that isn't what his purpose was. And if you are "christian" you would know that all men are of GOD. Even the sinners. We are all born sinners. Its up to us to change that and follow Jesus. King spoke out against the war in 1967. He was denounced by mainstream media & leadership in the Black & White communities. King assassinated in 1968, US left Vietnam in 1975. You need to put the joint down.

You called out Dr. King by name so I addressed that. Malcolm X spoke out against intervention in Vietnam from 1963 until his death in 1965. Though he certainly was not a liberal. 1st major anti war demonstration was in NYC 5/64. In 1965 SNCC led a 25,000 in the 1st anti-war march on D.C. Students For a Democratic also led a march a couple months earlier at University of Michigan. Dr. Benjamin Spock was also spoke out early
