If marriage is religious, make it illegal. Civil Unions for everyone. I plan on getting a "Domestic Partnership" with my girlfriend in about a year or so. If we can't get it based on gender, we'll sue. Equal rights, no matter the cost, no matter the method. If I were gay, I'd sue for marriage :)

I know both of my parents voted for Measure 22. I know at least one of them would not do that today. 8 years is a lonnnnnng time.
