My heart absolutely sank when Carl left Harvick on the bottom, Kevin had the best car, but he said it himself "I zigged when I shoulda zagged." But I was happy to see Jamie win, he earned it.

i liked this daytona 500 because instead of the win being between guys like tony stewart, kyle busch, jeff gordon, or kurt busch like recent races have, but between jamie mcmurray, martin truex jr, clint bowyer, and dale jr in the end. great race other than the potholes

At the moment YES. And though I am not a Johnson fan, I am okay with that. He has been in just over 7 seasons and has 4 championships and some ungoddly amount of wins for that small of an armada. I think the best way to do it is the same as when they compaired Earnhardt Sr. to Petty in the early 90's. Take their career from first race to present day and assign %points to everthing: races started, races won, championship top 10's, championships won. Its a bit more work but its really only lazy people and their victims who manipulate stats. In the universe of sports stats the %sign is god.
It's funny how people bitch about the new green white checker rule. Due to the fact the reason why it's here because so many people bitched about races ending under yellow. Some things can never be perfect...
jr finishing second doesn't mean he has turned it around. it's a good moral booster but his car was not very good all day and the only reason he had a good finish was the two tire stop/race delay which threw handling out the window when the sun went down. if it finished during the day he might have pulled out a top 20 because his car had poor handling all day. 29/33/16 were the cars to beat all day.
yeah because he had fresh tires and handling was irrelevant. anyone who really understands nascar knows ristrictor plate racing is a crap shoot. when Jr challenges for wins at atlanta, bristol or vegas then say something.

The 3 GWC rule is a joke! Imagine that, the one time Richard Childress gets his head out of his ass and gives his cars a chance to win the Daytona 500, they put in a rule that turns out to fuck them. Come on Mike Helton, get off the drugs and actually manage the sport. I know that you want the race to end under green, but all these new rules have ended up screwing the drivers that actually had the cars to beat.
And I guess adding 25+ miles to what is supposed to be a 500 mile race is awesome? It is supposed to be a race to see who is the first to complete 500 miles. I wasn't a fan of the original green white checker. With double file restarts now (which I do like) all the slower, torn up cars are right up there with the leaders. Making it harder to finish the race under green. Holding off the checkered flag for an additional 7+ laps is rediculous. just let them race, and screw adding miles to it.
I could see Edwards trying to win, but when your spotter is telling you that the outside has the run, why would you jump out of line and fuck yourself like that? They weren't even up to speed! WTF! No one on the inside line came close to winning the race because of that.
Awesome for Jamie Mac, what a class act! Sure he shed some tears, but its the Daytona 500 & its nice to see someone who cares so much. I'm a JR fan, but I was there, screaming in the stands for Jamie Mac. Jack, you let mark go, he wins at Hendrick, you let Jamie go, he wins with DEI/Genassi. Jack Sucks!

Great race, the last laps were INTENSE! Congrats to Jamie, he's always been a modest racer that doesn't win a lot, but never takes things for granted. Deserved win for Jamie and that team, I see good things ahead for him. I almost cried too, because I know the feeling.

Take a look at the starting grid for Fontana this weekend, and count how many of them have a Daytona 500 ring, Jr. has one. Learn some facts!
but Gordon is one of the all time greats and finished top 5 in points in the last 2 years while Jr is driving for the same team and his best points finish is 12th in the best equipment in the sport. no more excuses for Jr anymore.

Jamies never been my favorite driver but ive always said hes a good plate racer. my dad recorded the race while i was working and just before the last restart i said to him you know. i think mcmurray has a shot. glad to see him actually act like he won the Daytona 500. lately it seemed like people in victory lane didnt get the clue that this was the biggest win you could have and just went about it like they won at kentucky or chicagoland. but J-Mac showed us all that it's still THE 500.
if they didnt get all stacked up jr would have pulled rudimen into 2nd which would make me very happy jr is my favorite but rudimen is from my home town!

yeah because he had fresh tires and handling was irrelevant. anyone who really understands nascar knows ristrictor plate racing is a crap shoot. when Jr challenges for wins at atlanta, bristol or vegas then say something.

Yes he has 7 Super Speedway wins, but 11 non-Super Speedway wins. Yes I am a big Jr fan, but I am not a fan of just jumpng to conclusions, without backing them with facts. Sure he hasn't been the greatest driver of all, but he still has been a complete driver, one who hasn't lived to his potential, could 2010 be it? We'll find out.

The 3 GWC rule is a joke! Imagine that, the one time Richard Childress gets his head out of his ass and gives his cars a chance to win the Daytona 500, they put in a rule that turns out to fuck them. Come on Mike Helton, get off the drugs and actually manage the sport. I know that you want the race to end under green, but all these new rules have ended up screwing the drivers that actually had the cars to beat.

And I guess adding 25+ miles to what is supposed to be a 500 mile race is awesome? It is supposed to be a race to see who is the first to complete 500 miles. I wasn't a fan of the original green white checker. With double file restarts now (which I do like) all the slower, torn up cars are right up there with the leaders. Making it harder to finish the race under green. Holding off the checkered flag for an additional 7+ laps is rediculous. just let them race, and screw adding miles to it.

I could see Edwards trying to win, but when your spotter is telling you that the outside has the run, why would you jump out of line and fuck yourself like that? They weren't even up to speed! WTF! No one on the inside line came close to winning the race because of that.

Awesome for Jamie Mac, what a class act! Sure he shed some tears, but its the Daytona 500 & its nice to see someone who cares so much. I'm a JR fan, but I was there, screaming in the stands for Jamie Mac. Jack, you let mark go, he wins at Hendrick, you let Jamie go, he wins with DEI/Genassi. Jack Sucks!

Great race, the last laps were INTENSE! Congrats to Jamie, he's always been a modest racer that doesn't win a lot, but never takes things for granted. Deserved win for Jamie and that team, I see good things ahead for him. I almost cried too, because I know the feeling.

I Don't care what people say about his talent, beacuse it's there, everyone has seen it, unless you are blind. You might also think that have "plate" wins doesn't take that much talent. Take a look at the starting grid for Fontana this weekend, and count how many of them have a Daytona 500 ring, Jr. has one. Learn some facts!

but Gordon is one of the all time greats and finished top 5 in points in the last 2 years while Jr is driving for the same team and his best points finish is 12th in the best equipment in the sport. no more excuses for Jr anymore.

Jamies never been my favorite driver but ive always said hes a good plate racer. my dad recorded the race while i was working and just before the last restart i said to him you know. i think mcmurray has a shot. glad to see him actually act like he won the Daytona 500. lately it seemed like people in victory lane didnt get the clue that this was the biggest win you could have and just went about it like they won at kentucky or chicagoland. but J-Mac showed us all that it's still THE 500.
