Reality and common sense cannot be biased, they are not man-made. That is like saying truth is biased.
However you can't tell me more people are biased toward conservatism. Let's see...the only conservative media outlet I can find is Fox. Let us compare to the liberal bias. We have NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN (big one), PBS, New York Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Sun Times, Wall Street Journal (while more moderate than most), LA Times, and the rest I can't remember.

Religious ideas have always carried more emotional weight than politics because they are supposed to concern the highest and best parts of humanity. That people would be more sensitive about them compared to the banality of politics is entirely to be expected and not a "double standard" at all.

I don't know what you were taught, but at Sunday School I was taught that he burns people when he sends them to Hell, but he still loves us of course. God is still responsible for the punishment though, since he put the system into place. Justice is fine, but eternal punishment for non believers is a bit harsh, to say the least, along with the other barbaric elements of the bible. The reason why I believe gods don't exist is because there is no evidence for them, the burden of proof is on the one who claims that a god does exist.

The false (which I think is the dominant one) would be that you need to take the Bible as a whole, not just random parts, cause than it will look just barbaric. The true part, God is not who anyone should want or say he should be.

Yes, if you claim that anything that exists breaks any physicial or biological laws or is outside of the universe, (god's omnipotence, virgin birth, miracles) I would naturally demand that YOU prove or provide evidence that this thing does exist. You wouldn't have to prove the nonexistence of magical fairies in my closet if I claimed their existence. I would love to see this archaeological evidence of the bible. Most stories have been in fact disproven like noah's ark, adam and eve, the exodus.

Bottom line is that if there is a God, than he is who he is. Though faith isn't easy, it's also easy. I don't have all the answers about God or life, but trusting the creater is allot easier than trying to control everything merely by my own wants & needs. Yes, but it's different when he encourages people to be terrible to each other. You know like that passage that reads "If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property." Josh Mcdowell is a writer that started out on a project to dis-prove the Bible and ended up doing the oppisite and so he wrote a book on the subject. He goes into great detail on proving it's accuracy through historical, archeoligical and courtroom analogies. Though I've read much on the subject, I found his to be the most detailed and convincing of Christian apoligetics. Either way it's a facinating read.

There's no doubt things in the scripture the appear harsh, but again if it's not taken as a whole, then that's all your left with. But also, not everything is what it appears. Like slavery. There's slavery that we know (the Jews where slaves in Egypt) and there's the slavery that's talked about when it's said "slaves be good to your masters and masters be good to your slaves".That's a huge paraphrase btw. When someone had a debt they couldn't pay, they payed it off in servitude

It was business more or less.But that's an example of why the Bible needs to be taken as a whole.And to say that there are concepts from the past isn't far off as when Christ rose from the dead,many of the old laws where abolished by God.A moral code would require knowing what God says is and isn't, not us. What do you mean " the bible needs to be taken as a whole." Passages that allow and regulate slavery are just as valid as passages that demand that we treat others as we would like to be treated. Obviously these were written long ago, and this is why they reflect the values and norms of the people that wrote it. Wouldn't instructions supposedly handed down from God apply to all people regardless of the time and culture? Also, why did God only communicate with this one group of people?
