I used to think exactly the same, love and forgiveness were the only two commandments, but they aren't. Faith that Jesus is the only way because no one else ever gave their life for you, and also stay true to all the commandments as these are life saving, all have earthy consequences. We were told to confess ALL your sins - you'll be forgiven. Also we were told then TO TURN AWAY from sin, so not just confess it but also turn away from it.
The afterlife with Jesus has LAWS like a family home.
