Oh man, this movie is incredible! So many colors, so inspirational, so beautiful, so breathtaking! I think Disney tried to keep this movie hidden from us because Disney would look so old compared to this movie. Just everything is so wonderful about this movie. I don't know how it could not be popular after it won an Oscar!?

@AlcoholicMB Depends on who holds the copyright. Some of my other videos were 'smackeddown' as well.

Also, copyright-holders might not be entirely consistent, eg allowing short clips but deleting longer ones or vice versa.

And SOME copyright-holders are just cool - and don't smackdown at all! ;D

I bought the DVD of this movie two years ago, my children enjoy it and after dozens of viewings, we are not fed up of it. The pictures and the music are enchanting and the story have the complexity and the richness of themes we can find in traditional fairy tales, far from the simplistic animation and stories of the Disney cartoons. Thanks for having posted it as my DVD has only the version in French and I wanted to see this film in English... And the Irish accent is so charming :)

@bittercokejjang @IKkEAnVB Neither the Irish, nor the Belgian, cinema is really big. I don't know any other animated films from either of them. Regarding other films from those countries - you could try 'Once' for Ireland; Extremely low-budget but it gives the film some of its charm. For a film from Belgium, one of the best known from the last years is 'Mr Nobody'.

Or actually, you might like 'The triplets of Belleville', French/Belgian/Canadian animation. Bit surreal, but I personally loved it

The Secret of Kells (2009) is tops. So happy this film is available on you tube in full length. Netflix has this Film available for streaming if a higher resolution is desired. However, at 300p it is very good viewing, and loads fast, To immerse oneself in this film is to experience a welcoming to Kells..

The Secret of Kells is a wonderful illuminator and beacon into exquisite mysteries for all ages to enjoy. Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

ah nice and calm story...um it's about the vikings pillaging and killing everyone...and did you see how creepy Ashling was when she held the stone up for Brendan when he goes into the cave of Crom Cruich

@colorguard7190 I meant the overall pace of the story; the generally relaxed flow of the scenes; the fixed camera point - as opposed to obtrusive visuals and busy music.

Even when for instance the vikings attack, these aspects generally hold true.

In no way did I want to represent my text that it was nice and calm in the way a granny sitting on her porch or doing the groceries is. A film much more in that direction is Megane - which I have uploaded as well.

Great film! Tomm Moore and his team did an outstanding job and they totally deserved the Oscar nomination. Beautiful animation. The DVD doesn't have any great special features but definitely worth getting for the quality and to support Moore's next feature.

I was searching for some well drawn cartoons when I found this one. At first I thought it was too strange and wanted to turn it off but just couln't press the button, like hypnotyzed.
