  • What sort of books can you get ? are new books released on ebooks ?

  • I'm so tempted to buy it!

  • "There Are Seven Ways to Die in Atlanta..."

    FULTON COUNTY 404 amazon ebook

    In Theaters SUMMER 2011

  • will buy this in 2 weeks!

  • I really hope I can get a kindle someday

  • Hey folks, hope you have seen the latest price cut for Kindle 2? It is now only $189 - clearly a steal price for a dedicated e reader with huge content!

  • It's now only 299, but is it really worth the money?

  • IT IS.

  • only if you're going to read that many book. The only bad thing about these ebook reader is that you don't get the warm feel of a real book.

  • @ClassicSteinwayJonas That "warm feeling" isn't intrinsic to dead tree books. Personally, I get a warmer feeling knowing that I'm not contributing to the slaughter of our forests for the sake of information that has eclipsed that barbaric alternative.

But is that 'warm feeling' you yourself receive worth more than the ability to lug around your entire library with you? I don't see the comparison... Let's be honest: you're on the fence because it's a pricey gadget; not for any aesthetic reason.

  • Can you turn the wireless feature off?

  • yes, on the menu. I´ve heard :- )

  • The price is 299.00 and 10$ for a book that usually cost 30$.

  • Nice work. keep it up. mean time come for social media marketing for esteembpo**com fhfgh

  • is it just me or is this a superfluous form of technology? 400 bucks to recreate the way that paper looks on a screen.

"it reads like real paper"- ha

  • Clearly it has to do with reinventing the way we read books, and nothing to do with storing your entire library on a handheld device.

    Clearly.

  • the thiness is good but can't u just haul around a reg book

  • Yes, but can you haul around your entire library? I suppose it's really for people who read while they travel a lot, and not just at home. Or if you just read A LOT. Think about that, 1,500 books in that thing. That's a small library; a wealth of information, in just over 10 ounces. I find that amazing.

  • @CBGB42

Smaller smart phones have had access to Google for years. Same difference.

  • first: the kindle 2 doesn't sell in the UK not even on Amazon!!! How dumb is that? idiots! Second it will cost more than £300 when they do finally sell it in the UK and it shouldn't even be more than £200. Third. The Kindle has no backlight and neither does the Sony 700. Pathetic. Fouth. If a company like Samsung gets their fingers out their ass pretty soon they'll look at the flaws of the Kindle 2 and the Sony 700 and make a far superior product at a much lower price.

  • This is supposed to be great, though everything has cons! It is annoying that they don't sell it in the UK, though it is also over 300 in the US. I do wish the price was lower, but I guess I have to deal.

  • this homemade commersial is sooo 2007.

  • It would be so awesome if I could have my textbooks in kindle... I would get it instantly.

But then, most textbooks have a lot of pictures and require colors especially if it's something like math or physics textbook... still, it's a great possibility.

It would be also great if I can download mangas in kindle. Its size is perfect for manga reading. Plus, mangas are black and white except for the cover anyway....

If those two things were done, I would get kindle without a second thought.

  • Gah! If it was 200 dollars I could get it for my birthday!!

  • I took the plung and got one.. I never leave home without it and use it everyday. The 3G wireless rules, even more due to the fact that there is no monthly fee. I live in an urban jungle so wireless signal is full bars always. I buy books while on the beach. Can't beat it.

  • I kind of want one but two problems: 1) Most of the area of the country (including where I live) isn't covered by Whispernet (aka Sprint). and 2) Given #1 it's too expensive.

Come up with one that's say $100 (or maybe even just $50) cheaper and uses 802.11b/g and I'm probably a buyer. Or come up with one that works on AT&T's network.

  • i want that

  • Amazing.

  • i want this so bad!!wat too expensive though.

  • it'll go down eventually don't worry about it =)

  • ugg, I want this thing SO bad. Problem is, I only read about 1-2 books a month. If I can only benefit from the price point. I would have to buy more books, but I just don't have the time with my busy life.

  • this is really good for school

it would be much easier to take all my books in 1 simple i book

    but is it in color?!

  • ? ive never read a book which had colored text

  • ...pictures duh

  • arent there any pictures in text books?

  • nope. :(

    and they don't have textbooks.

  • This thing is incredible!

  • Well the iPhone has Stanza. But that's hardly any competition for the Kindle is it ?

  • Kindle is now an iPhone app. I wish it would support landscape viewing though. People have two eyes which are horizontally aligned - not vertically!

  • We can now access the Internet without turning over the Kindle to flip a switch :-) you just go to the menu and turn on the wireless. I couldn't tell you how many times I wanted to look something up I was reading in the newspaper only to find out I didn't have the wireless on. Turning it on then would've required me to call my caregiver, have them turn it on, leave the room while I did my research, and then call them back to turn it off. Thank you very much for the great improvement :-)

  • save money and get a netbook

  • waste of money...u can books online for free..

  • Apple has nothing that can touch Kindle, end of story.

  • Web browsing is fun. Good for getting the weather or reading some news or anything else you can think of. But dont for a minute think that web browsing is the big deal. The K2 is an E-book thru and thru. The other stuff is just to help out. good job and good review thank

  • kindle is better because amazon have book resource read review in website above

  • i buy it al realdy very good

  • So whats the difference between a kindle screen and a black and white gamboy screen (aside from amount and size of pixles)

As much as I want the Kindle 2 I cant seem to justify spending 360$ on it.

  • The screens use a totally different technology. The Gameboy is a regular B&W LCD screen.

The Kindle uses E-ink, which can keep whatever is on the screen even when the device is turned off, and only consumes power when the screen is updated. like when turning a page of a book.

  • is it me or did that sound like a speech Steve Jobs would give?

  • wikipedia...nice!

  • cool

  • what about reading at night ?

  • You use a light just like with any other book.

  • is this already sold in the Philippines?
