Just bought an X5 today here in Minneapolis and was looking on Youtube to learn the Idrive system. Of all the videos on Youtube, I find one from Newmarket Ontario where I went to high school (Sacred Heart Class of '83). The world is getting smaller.
Dear kirilltennis, this system is for smart people "ONLY". There's a voice system available when actually driving. So if you think u will be driving and playing around with the idrive, you're mistaken.
This new system is god awful, why would they ever change a simple, uncomplicated, resourceful system to something that makes you have to press so many buttons. The new idrive is almost like playing a video game while driving. If I have to actually pay attention to change a radio station or do something like that as opposed to paying attention to the road, BMW is going to definitely get in a lot of trouble because of this new idiotic system.
@kirilltennis As he showed somewhere at 6:55, you can use the voice command system (even when driving - button is on the steering) instead of just playing around with your iDrive. In fact, it's not really that difficult as some BMW drivers already remember the way to go though the system without having to look at the screen much. That is why BMW chose to not have their system in touch-screen...
@kirilltennis use your steering wheel controls to change the radio station then? Or press the regular radio button on the radio like the rest of the world? the new system is really good, not designed to be used when driving.
What is the MODEL YEAR of this car?
