mae mai muay thai and muay boran are basically the same thing,'boran' means anything but 'ancient',so with these expressions you mean something like 'ancient muay thai techniques'
fuck man i would love to learn this style of muay thai rather than the new clean version. all it is is aggressive white boys jumping around in a cage but this is freakin awesome cause the fighters have more control over their moves and kicks....and this was a good rope match as well.
I mean that boxers fight for money (usually money=food),and they usually don't like to use techniques that may damage the opponent and themselves so much that they couldn't be able to fight one or two weeks later...cause it means less money.
Well, I don't quite agree with you mate. I may be wrong but in my country Thailand, they just try to knock out the opponent as best they can cuz they gonna get extra cash for good KOs.
Just check out Muay Thai knock outs, Lumpini Stadium.
sorry mate probably it's my fault, but you misunderstood what I try to tell you
off course they try to knock out each others, and thai fighters are very tough,I love the techniques and the elegance of their way of fighting (wish I was a little like them as a fighter!) - and it's also true they earn extra cash if they knock out their opponent...
I just say that they don't use brutal techniques like bonebreaker hits or something like that, techniques that maybe they train, but don't use in a sport fight in order to not damage themselves too much so they could't fight the next time - don't you agree?
Yes, I do. Deadly moves are already forbidden. According to the "Human Weapon" program those moves were removed since King Rama 7ths period and converted to "sport". Cuz there were too many deaths which occured during no rule competitions.
No he is right, often in Muay Thai in Thailand the fighters, especially if they know they are going to win on points won't go all out. They don't want to risk hurting themselves and to some degree their opponent out of respect so that they can both fight another day.
I didn't mean they wanna go all out every fight. I mean they fight their best and try to knock the opponents out if possible. KO normally occurs approximately in 1 match out of 4. (As I used to watch when I was home.)
is it mae mai muay thai or maybe muay boran ? The whole stance, movement look like muay boran

I learn this style its very hard...involves very weird stuff that you need to master in order to effectively use the style

Just so you know this is nothing what modern Muay Thai in Thailand looks like, they just do these demo's for the foreigners.

first time ive seen the ancient style of muay thai looks very good. I wonder if they still use some of the strikes in the modern muay thai?
chnazimo 4 years ago
some strikes are still used, some else not just because some techniques are too dangerous for the opponent, and muay thai is business ;)
edehess 4 years ago
What do you mean by business?
Well so far I know, some moves are forbidden just because it's too dangerous. Muay Thai has been "converted" to sport. So there are rules you know.
But still, some boxers didn't survive after the ring.
