@forgiven32 There is no solid evidence that there is life after death. It is our brains that do the thinking, once it decays, how can we exist ? Homo sapiens have made up many thousands of religions. Neanderthal man also had religious ideas as shown by their burial rituals, and we share some of their unique DNA. So not only do we need to establish whether there is a god or not, and that homo sapiens are the reason for the universe, we need to work out which god is the right one.

The film wasn't too bad as it seemed like more a critique on the theists who don't know much about their religion then the religion themselves. Like where Jesus never mentioned anything about homosexuality, yet people have picket signs that say "Jesus hates gays" that seemed like a good critique.
But when he starts making false comparisons between Christianity and other religions is when it becomes borderline bullshit.

By the evolutionary theory, we slowly became what we are, over millions of years. Hence the popular depiction of a monkey morphing into a man through several stages. Most Christian scholars would agree that The old testament was written over the course of at least 6 to 8 thousand years! The new teastament as most people know was written at least 100 A.D. Check your history book and then come back.

2) the OT was written between 1450AD and 450AD, and it was not my numbers i was simply quoting someone else's. I diddnt see the point in splitting hairs over the OT dates.
3) In 1 Corinthians Paul names the Gospels of Jesus Christ (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) Scientists have dated 1 Corinthians was written between 53AD and 57AD, only 20 years after the death of Jesus. So the Gospels had to have been written before that date.
