  • I am Greek Orthodox, and I have to clear something up for the Protestants. Like the Roman Catholics, we do not worship the saints, we merely venerate them. The Virgin Mary herself is venerated and prayed to, but not worshipped. The Eucharist (the Body and Blood of Christ) becomes so only through the power of the priests given to them by the Apostolic Succession. God gives them that power, and arrives in the Eucharist Himself. Priests (and certainly bread bakers!) lack such power on their own.

  • She doesn't look like 20. She looks like 16 :)

  • When I first was capitivated by Helena Bonham Carter! I just thought she was brilliant!

  • poor Bellatrix. :(

  • Basically, played out by dirty politics and evil women.

  • Comment removed

  • How old was she in this movie :3

she looks like she's 13 xD

  • I really love HBC. I wish she still did more period pieces because she's one of the few actresses today who can still do them . I wish she'd stop doing every one of her husband's terrible new movies; from this, Ophelia, and Anne Boleyn (or even Fight Club), to a part where she just parades around with an oversized head!? She's too good for that.

  • I FEEL SO SORRY FOR LADY JANE :( MAY GOD REST HER SOUL

  • Isn't Edward and Lady Jane cousins? I think they are but I forgot.

  • i've ordered this from the HMV website & waiting impatiently for it!!!! atrghhh.I love her in this, she seems so innocent. The best actress ever, not another comes close :D

  • My God, Internet is small. I was just reading some of your wonderfully long and informative posts on IMDB, then I come here to watch that 30 minute version of Tudor Rose and I see this video on Suggestions and I recognise your username. Hehe...

  • I think Lady Jane Grey's story is one of the saddest in history. She never gets much of a mention in history lessons, either. 'Yeah. She was queen for a day. Then she got executed. Sad,huh?'

    :(

  • @kimmimaroxjuugo Poor girl. May God rest her soul. Didn't do one damn thing wrong.

  • Helen is so good!!!

  • AHH! HER HAIR IS TO NEAT! WHAT HAPPENED TO HER!? Lol.

  • She looks like Rory from Gilmore girls

  • jane grey got completely fucked over man, poor baby :(

  • She's great, and Patrick Stewart is as awesome as always!

  • OMG! She' 20 in this and she looks WAY younger. She's so cute though and a good Jane! ^ ^

  • Yes, HBC always has looked younger than her age,

  • helena bonham carter was born 1966 so she must have been 20 years old in this movie.

  • She was 19. This movie was premiered in February 1986, and her birthday is in May. Besides, it would take months to film this wonderful, beautiful movie. ^^

  • she looks like rory gilmore XD

  • one of the sadest stories of that century, ever read allison weirs book on her... so sad... (innocent traitor)

  • @shorteemac

That book is amazing, she had such a hard life.

  • Picard better be carefuil not to alter history and destroy the timeline

  • Edward VI in this movie is cute

Him and Helena Bonham Carter (As Jane) both look cute together

  • I had a crush on Patrick Stewart when I first saw this many years ago then he turned up on STG thud!

  • Lady Jane is the greatest movie ever made!

  • If I understand correctly, there was actually a year time from Jane's reign of 9 days to her actually execution?

  • she was a courageous young lady; may she rest in peace.

  • Edward in this movie is pretty cute lol

  • I remember watching as a teen in the 80s. Back then I thought Helena was HOT!

  • She still is!

  • Saw this Movie in Qatar Airlines. gr8

  • How old was Carter in this movie?

  • she was in her 20's, she is 42 now

  • hmmm. wikipedia says she was 20 :/

  • this film always makes me cry ;(

  • Wow...mean people

    (Yes I know, dumb comment)

    Helena is excellent btw.

  • In fact there were other siblings not shown in the film. The parents were KNOWN as child abusers

  • I've not watched this but really want to.

Is it implied that Edward and Jane are in love with each other through it? And if so, were they close to each other in real life?

  • In the film they are friends, and personally I did not dedicate any romance. In real life, they were not particularly close just as Edward or Jane were not that close to many other people. Edward was keen on marrying the French princess Elisabeth of Valois, although Jane's parents are believed to have wanted to marry Jane off to him. But Edward was never interested in this idea even when his uncle, Thomas Seymour, tried to promote the idea.

  • it was ideal, to many people, for them to marry, but there was no romantic ties, as you've mentioned. indeed, i think edward would have had to convert elizabeth of valois to protestantism, as she was roman catholic. i liked alison weir's novel about jane and the part where she wrote about jane and edward, where edward mentions that if they were just ordinary people, it would have been them marrying. however, with jane so keen on studies, i don't think so.

  • the man playing her father also plays feste in the twelfth night film that helena bonham carter was in!! =]

just thought i'd put that out there lol

  • god her vioce sounds so different to now, its so sweet and inocent

  • She's so young!

Poor Jane. Sweet innocent Jane always beaten into submission by her detestable parents and bought off by Northumberland like she was property and then sent to the block for being pushed onto a throne that she didn't want to sit on. God was her only friend.

  • God and Katherine Parr.

It's a pity she died in childbirth.

  • ON MAY26 HAPPY BIRTHDAY HELENA!!!!

  • This movie has such a wonderful soundtrack, but alas I have never been able to find it.

  • Thanx for posting this, Jane seemed like such a sweet girl who I would love to hang around and just read with. It totally sucks that she was surronded by abusers who took advantage of her. If I wasn't such and Anne*Elizabeth fan I would have liked to see her and Edward married. Is the little girl Catherine?

  • Maybe Jane could have tempered Edward's prejudice

  • no that was elizabeth

  • Can't be Elizabeth is older than Edward

  • I'm not sure if that's meant to be Elizabeth. At least I hope not because like you say, she was older than Edward.

  • Great execution scene.

  • Umm ...

  • There was no execution scene 0.o;

  • I don't think they mean execution as in head chopping off but as in the type of scene.

  • thank you so much for posting this,it would be greatly appriciated if you could post more please!!

  • One of my favorite movies.

  • Thank-you so much for posting this! There isn't enough footage dealing with Lady Jane Grey on YouTube!

Must say, I much prefer Helen's performance as Jane to her performance as Anne Boleyn, even with the discrepancy in age!

Would you be able to post any scenes which include Jane and Mary from this film?

  • littlemiss ... just wondered if you'd seen my comment?
