ok...im pissed..great video on ISLE of SKYE...breath taking scenery..lots of talk about the MCDONALDS and MCLOUDs...but Nothing about the Clan MACKINNON..they show the Castle MOIL and talk about Saucy Mary ( the Norwegian princess) but don't even mention the CLAN..one of the original seven Clans...and once owned almost 1/3 of the island...and had it taken from them after the defeat at CULLODEN
gorgeous video! Does anyone know the name of the castle ruins @1:10-1:18? I really need to know this as there is supposedly my ancestoral coat of arms as part of the archway. I hope to visit Skye in the not too distant future and so lucky are those of you that have actually set foot on this heavenly isle! cheerz! xx
@cocatwoman7 - it's The Castle of Dunscaith, or more correctly "Dun Sgathaich", i.e. the Dun of the Shadow. w ww(.) clandonald(.)info(/)castles(/)dunscaithcastle(.)h tml
Can't wait to get there in May! I already know - even from just watching the videos - that this is the most beautiful, stunning scenery I've ever seen in my life... so what will it be like when I'm actually THERE? WOW!!
I was looking for the song Cuillins, cos was played when my Dad was carried in at his funeral, how is it under Where Eagles Fly??.. but Where Eagles Fly was played at the end, my Dad was addidcted to the Isle of Skye when a youngster, and when myself an ma wee sis an bro were young we got taken too, unfortantely, at that age, I did not appreciate the beauty:(.. I do now thru vids etc on here, my Dads wish was to have his ashes scattered at faerie pools at Cuillins. Correct title?
@ybrannan - This is the last part of the Skye program (split into 4 parts). (Where Eagles Fly is a series). Faerie pools are a series of clear, cold pools and waterfalls formed as Allt Coir' a' Mhadaidh tumbles down from the foothills of the Black Cuillins into Glen Brittle. Park at Forestry car park and follow signposted path opposite the parking area. To reach pools take the right fork on the path after a hundred yards, and follow the trail for about 10 minutes to where the ground rises.
Been there twice and spent 2 nights in Portree at one B&B (can't remember the name of it), but my room view directly to the bay of Raasay... really nice landscape and very friendly community there... a must visit place or should I say, amongst the 99 places to visit before you die :)
It's almost three in the morning and I started watching because I love the island. What a truly great film which shows Skye as those of us with a little fear will never otherwise see it. Truly beautiful.
