I don't know why people thumbs down your question but to answer it, most of the times it doesn't hurt but i have seen people hit the mat badly (usually in a bad footing) and once I saw someone sent to the hospital.
he had the best start in the olympics. he already has one of athe best if not the best start now. of couse asafa had a bad start becasue he always chokes
I think there is a sub 9.8 in Thompsons near future. he definitely has one of the quickest starts in the world and he's got so much speed at the top-end. he went 9.89 in windless Beijing- can only go lower from there.(of course i would have to say the same about Usain Bolt...thats scary) But yeah Asafa has been nervous, first it was Tyson Gay that he was afraid of, now its Usain Bolt. I just hope he can knock down a PR if not a WR in Poland and get ready for next season
Faster than Bob Hayes? I thought Hayes was called the fastest man in history because of his 4x100 split and his 10 flat during the 1969 Tokyo Olympics. Maybe just the 40 or something... Can anyone clear this up?
but in Bob Hayes's day the didn't have the electronic timing, so those times aren't quite accurate. some say his anchor on the 4x100 was hand-timed at 8.4!!!!! but we will never know how accurate that was.
Even still regardless in all the big races Holliday consistently beat Thompson, for example like in the 07 SEC Championships and the 07 Outdoor 100m Finals. It just baffles me how Thompson flipped it around, unless he was hurt last year or something.
the thing is Thompson has all year to train for Track, while Holliday has only a few weeks due to him electing to play Football. I guess you could say Trindon's natural untrained speed was faster than Thompson's natural untrained speed.
So anyone wanna explain to me where Richard Thompson came from. Last year he wasn't much of a contender for the Outdoor 100m title. And now he's beating Holliday in 60's and 100's. His PR in 07 was 10.35 and now out of nowhere he's consistently running sub 10.2's...
thenextreggie, You sound like you are bitter about something. Do you care to tell us what's really wrong? Did Richards success and superior performance hurt your feelings? He is simply faster than Holiday this year..accept it. Richards technique, transition, execution and composure has improved this year. People train so that they can improve. It should not be a suprise to you that he was better mentally and physically capable this year. PS dont hate.
But trindon holliday need to work on running in as straight a line as possible. Even in the 2007 NCAA's, I think too much lateral movement cost him the 100m title. If you watch in this race, it seems as if he momentarily lost his footing.
Thank you ESPN for getting it right. Richard is from Trinidad and Tobago. keep blazing the track Richard. missy kane and bernie whats his face can learn a thing or two from The ESPN commentary team
Richard Thompson ran a 10.00 at the Texas Relays and broke Holliday's school record. I swear LSU has to have some world class coaching for the 100m they're taking guys that come in w/ PRs of 10.5-10.4 in hs and drop them down to sub 10.2s in like 2 years.
You're not understanding what I'm saying. If you observe his technique,it's almost certain that his time would have been faster- that run had 6.4 potential, but he has a tendency to move too much to the right or the left....maybe it's a psychological thing, or a football thing....beats me!!! But yeah I know, coulda woulda shoulda....
The fact that Trindon is 5'5 and he's running blazing times is nothing short of amazing. **no pun intended** lol.
