also it is a known fact that if the fish have a knob they are male, but if the knob is on their lips, well guys i think we have a very rare homosexual bass
That is awesome, I want to do something like this so bad. Maybe a 100 Gal tank. Where did you get your bass? Did you just catch them and keep them? Or did you buy fingerlings and raise them?
hey man i love the set up. would you mind telling me what kind of plants you use and where did you find the stump and what did you do to ready it for the aquarium?
@huntfishshoot1 Its a know that sometimes bass develop...I love on Lake Erie and I have always heard that if they have that knob it means that they are healthy.
cool i use to have one that out grew the tank it was 10 gallons now i have 3 in my pond and i have a whole bunch of mosquito fish they can eat whenever they want
@fishingman636 it looks like a natural growth that some bass get. I see it every once in a while on the bass i catch. It seems like the bigger ones always have it.
okay heres the deal i ave a bass and he's not that friendly he doesnt comw to the glass when i enter the room he just hides behind the flter any help to get him used to me
Don't be stupid--Peta doesn't have any qualms about a fish eating another fish. They have a problem with animals being tortured and being treated inhumanely. Not hard to tell the differnce, you just have to "think".
do you have any tips on how to get abass to get used to you. i've had mine for about 5 days and he hates me and is scared at flees when he sees me any tips
SICKASS vid....I got a 100 gallon tank and I have the whole environment set up I just need to add water. Should I just use water where I caught the bass from and what do you do for filtration. Thanks!!
You really shouldn't add your bass to new water - let the water get properly conditioned with some cheap goldfish for a few months and then add the bass when the environment will support him. It takes probably 3 months or more for the bacteria to grow in a new aquarium with an under-gravel filter and until that time most fish will die.
The highest rated comment is feed crickets and earthworms to a big bass in a 200 gallon tank? Get real...Bass dont eat eat worms and crickets in the river... they eat fish, tadpoles, crayfish, and ANYTHING they can fit in their mouth. Awesome video!! I wish I had 200 gallon tank :-( I have 3 small Largemouth Bass...they are pretty fun to say the least...where did you get yours?
yo those are proly fake plants on the back glass panel right? cuz im gona get a 180 gallon also with a lmb and a chain pickerel and im thinking about doing a similar design
I got my fake plants at Hobby Lobby and Michaels in thier plastic floral area. More selection and a lot more to choose from then at the over priced pet stores.
good idea looks mad good!!! theres a video here on youtube of some guy making a styrofoam wall with concrete on top of it and it looks like a rock wall, if you do that and use the plants you got and some live plants that tank would be orgasmic
@szymonbeefcake328 True but most live plants require around 3 watts of light per gallon. Under that kind of light the bass would natraully get lighter to blend in with its surrondings. I kept this tank on low light to get the Bass darker, you get a dark black lateral line and dark green colors in low light.
yea my bass has that problem hes like realy dull colored when the lights no and has a nice black lateral line when the lights off, but since i think live plants look bangin, im gona make him a realy dark spot so hopefuly he can hide in it
@sawyer1206 also,,,the live plants would make his tank look like shit,,,the infestation of snails,,all live plants have them every single 1,,,it would put black dots alllll over the place,,,and i highly doubt he cleans his tank,,its just amazing filter system so it would look nice,,but mess it up at the same time
You want to make it real interesting I had a 45gal tank with a 16" LMB and I use to go to the local pet store and get mice they were going to feed the snakes with and drop them in the tank!
So basically, what was understood by the warning at the beginning of the video, is that PETA is against the natural cycle of the food chain. Aren't PETA members just contradictory? I bet you they may try to convince all carnivores to go vegan as well. LOL
hah u must have money out the ass to have a tank like that but its complete rape lol wat was that fish u had in the background? i saw 2 bass and something that looked like a slab black crappie
Feed they more like once a week. They will feast for the first day and then it takes a couple of days before they are hungry enough to finish off the feeder fish.
Remeber not to feed them live feeders all the time. This could possibly give them ich, ich doesnt occure in nature but is common in fish hatercheries. Try to find an alertanative food source. Like pellots, flakes, or insects i have a large mouth an oscar i made the mistake of primarily feeding them fish and they caught the ich. But know i get my feeders from a local haterchy ran by my dads high school freind. They are farmed raised so i know that their healthy and clean.
Awesome awesome tank setup! Would it be possible for you to email me a frontal photo of the tank? Would def want to have my setup look similar... thanks!
Also I believe I saw an African Leaf fish in the video. These two are not compatible due to the temperature ranges they need. The Leaf fish is tropical preferring temps in the upper 70's while bass thrive with the temp in the 60's. Someone isn't happy there.
Good footage. Couple of suggestions: Rosey Reds and Goldfish are some of the worst things you can feed fish in captivity. Most of the time they are malnourished themselves offering little nutritional value. What they commonly offer are diseases. Better choices would be ghost shrimp, earthworms, crickets, even minnows from a bait shop should be healthier than most pet store feeders. Prepared foods are always the best such as frozen or dried.
I got four baby large mouth bass in a minnow trap just last week. Was going for shinners, and two days later when I pulled it up.... a bunch of shinners and 4 baby large mouth bass... they about 3 inches long... check out on my video
I might be getting some Largemouth Bass soon... just wondering , how long does it take to grow 10 inches? and if I'm starting with just two baby ones... what size tank should be enough until then?
I get a medicine from a local fish store called melafix. What you can do is add melafix, some aquarium salt, and up the temperature to around 82 degrees. It will cure his sore. My LMB had a sore too, and it cure itself after dosing him with the meds I listed.
