The power was not shut off. At around 5:50-6:00 you can see the street light still on. I agree that this is a respected fire company, however, tunnel vision needs to be noticed.. Good nobody but one person was transported early for inhalation and burns.. Firefighter? Im not sure. But full PPE is essential in any fire attack. and to JR141K. Dont bash anyone. What gives you the right to say that? I am offering MY OPINION on this video like him. Also, nice time to knock down the fire. Good Job.
As a Firefighter and fan of cars and trucks, the U.S. are the country of boundless possibilities for a little freaky german guy like me. There is onle one massive fail: this creepy cablesalad all over the country, formaly known as wiring for telephone and powersupply scares me, as get laid by Chucky's wife ;-)
Two things, im curious as to why the aerial is up against the wires. I realize there are cable lines, but also electrical lines. The firefighters climbing the ladder are bumping into them. Was the power shut off? Also, the PASS alarm is going off and isnt reset for a couple of minutes.
@23HazMat...i dont know who you are, or where you from obviously not from around here or else you wouldn't be saying that about HFD. there not there to make it look pretty or do the proper and right techniques.. they are there to put the fire out, save lives, and do the least poss damage and go home. it doesn't matter how it gets done but as long as that fire gets put out, and noone dies thats all that matters. HFD is one of the best and well respected fire depts. you probably arent even on a FD
23HazMat...if you saw something wrong with this video maybe if would be better to go back to watching videos on sirens that you like so much and leave the firefighting videos to the FIREMAN...just saying or maybe theres a grass fire you can fight in "rural West Virginia"
(Con't) 23HazMat, I would like to know where did you get your education on firefighting? Before you decide to publicly critique something, please have some knowledge of what you are talking about. You may have good intensions here, or an ulterior motive. I would start out by reading some books on firefighting techniques. Talk to some career firefighters, obviously you are not used to the way most work. We do a lot of work with very little manpower. It is easy to sit back and critique, but it is

balls and common sence make good firemen. that chief knew exactly what he was doing. he knew he wasnt going to go far. good job gents. quick knock and we all go home
Then you got the chief... with apparenty over 25 years expierence... entering the structure behind an uncharged line... WITHOUT proper PPE... gloves, not check... SCBA, not check... Coat properly fastened, not check... Nomex, what the f is that... radio, apparently not... BUT he has a flashlight... Must of got chief becuase nobody else wanted it... in all... this video is a disgrace to the fire service and should be showed in training films when training probies in rual west virginia fire dept's
@23HazMat Obviously you have time to become an expert on all these things in between the 3 fires you most likely respond to each year. Go back to putting lights on your car and leave the firefighting to them.
the title of this video should be what NOT to do at a fire... 1st off... you have firefighters entering into a house with an UNCHARGED hose line.. not to mention you have fire blowing out both sides of the sides of the structure... who the F&$# was dragging that ladder???? he should be sent back to basics with the dunce cap on and watch the proper carry of a ladder for 40 hours or until he can do it the correct way blindfolded...
@23HazMat listen.. I agree with you in the aspect of the NFPA SOGs but, you need to realize, the guys here DID get the job done. this is in NJ. Not WV. Next time keep your mouth in check. Offer CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM and do it nicely. It all works better that way.
