My uncle has two of these ... one 1997 (the first and lowest production year) and a 1999 both Purple... I can tell you something.. with the 1999 V6 255 HP model you got to be carefull coz this thing is so light and brutal that it can end you up in situations like these... Poor idiot!

@96hatchy Just because a car doesn't have a lot of power doesn't mean it's not fast. The fact is prowlers are meant for handling not straight line speed. It has a 50/50 weight distribution, a rev happy engine, a curb weight of around 2700 pounds, it's rwd, and has HUGE rear tires. My friend lets me borrow his stock 2001 prowler every once in a while and I haven't run across anything on the backroads that's faster. And that includes c6 corvettes and 977 911's. Power isn't everything my friend. :)

@CorvetteCrazy1000 Sure the Prowler was light at 2800 lbs, and it did handle well... but with 250 hp, 0-60 in 6 seconds, 1/4 mile in 14.5, and outdated (even though it was rear mounted) transmission... that car could NEVER keep up with a real sports car on backroads... let alone a C6 Corvette (I own one) or 911 (I used to own one). It was a good platform, handled well but was not outstanding on the track.

@makstone I HAVE beaten a c6 corvette/911.Though only because I was on roads I have driven hundreds of times ,so road knowledge was the real winner there. Prowlers are a funny thing. You really fall in love with them; there character, and the confidence they inspire. I know that the other cars will out perform it any day. The other guy I replied to was just arrogant. So I wanted to make sure he felt stupid. I know they're no track cars but you can't blame a guy for defending what he likes. :)

@CorvetteCrazy1000 True a well balanced car with less horsepower (like an S2000) can definitely be more fun to drive than a hard edged brute (like a Viper). People do put a lot of emphasis on drag racing and sometimes miss the point. I love my C6 Vette, but I also had a ball driving an S2000 last year that belonged to a buddy. If they make a blower or turbo kit for your Prowler (which Im sure somebody does) you would probably never take the short route home!

LOL... the Prowler is a very lightweight car at about 2600lbs it's mostly aluminum alloys, composites and magnesium... and the big V6 is already too much for it's size. You definitely do not want to gun-it into a turn like this guy... of course... unless you know what you're doing.

sorry man, but prowlers aren't anything special, they're were build like crap too, just like every other Chrysler from those years. there were quite a few recalls on them too (bad ball joints, missing welds, weak frame) and it weighted around 2800lbs, not 2600.
