  • he shoulda released this :|

  • one of the finest song billy has ever written

  • tears

  • What key is that harmonica in, some please tell me :D!

  • @PurpleFyr3

    F i think

  • @PurpleFyr3 i think it's in G, but i might be wrong

  • wonder if this will be on the Teargarden LP?

  • @LoomVideos It won't be.

  • @LoomVideos hi friend... I love this marvellous song, but Billy said that all songs from that period (except Owata and As Rome Burns, teorically) won't take part of Teargarden... anyway you can always listen to it whenever you want... here on ytube (;)

  • Don't call me daughter da da laaa....oh wait its not that one pearl jam song.....Oooowata!!

  • I miss Jimmy

  • This sounds like Ryan Adams

  • To me these Chris Isaak performances are kind of a perfect representation of where Billy seems to be heading with the new Teargarden material! I remember Billy saying that the American Gothic EP is a good glimpse into where he kind of plans to take his music, and that's so exciting, especially after hearing the instrumentation on the first two new Teargarden songs!

I only hope that he puts this song on the album! It's so good!

  • Unfortuantely, the first two teargarden songs do not sound anywhere near as good as this or any of the other "american gothic" type songs. The new one seems to be an improvement, but billy is producing material that is nowhere near the quality of that that was Gish, Siamese Dream, and Mellon Collie

  • @guifen0 - I hear that too much... Sure, they made great albums back in the day, but they're still making great music. Why compare? It's good in its own light...

  • Of course every new song that BC and the Pumpkins release is going to be good in its own light, but unfortunately, Billy released American Gothic, brilliantly crafted album that showcased his writing and instrumental abilities, and now Teargarden, an album that has failed to do so, when comparing it to American Gothic of course. So yeah, I could keep spitting the whole "pumpkins aren't as good as they used to be" deal, but I my point was to aim for more of a recent time frame, not the past.

  • @guifen0

failed to do so? come on man. the first EP didn't even came, it's only 4 songs. (+2 songs on Vinyl), and by that, it's too early to judge the WHOLE Teargarden album.

  • best Corgan' song since Mary Star of The Sea

  • @ArvidFalk86

I just might agree with you. In my opinion Mary Star of the Sea is one of the greatest songs ever.

  • This is the best song they've made since Machina II

  • Yeah I'd probably agree with that

  • thanks, this is a great version. cool vibe. xo

  • great song, this version is a bit faster.......i like it slower better from if all goes wrong

  • Damn Billy, you are a beast.

  • what cd can i find this on?

  • Just bootlegs, official or not, or the DVD. It's only been played live.

  • u could find it on the tonigt, tonight single album

  • I'm not a SP fan at all but this song here is very good.

  • try their song rose march..... its good too..^_^

before i dont like them.. coz of what other people say...

    but now. i'm a fan..^_^

  • The 'Chris Isaak Hour'? How cutting edge..............and yodely.

  • Beautiful indeed....my new favourite

  • El calvo Corgan, maestro!

  • not bad

  • I first thought this was about someone being trapped in the WTC towers-"99 Floors and no where to go" get it?? But obv. its not about that.

    Awesome song thou :)

  • its probably about his fans

  • I personally think it's about how you come to make it so far within your live (like his progress with his music career), but regardless of you've done for you people, there can always be a momnet where you lose them, and yoiu just can't understand why.

I might agree with "s0ss" that it may be about his fans. It was written during his residency show in San Francisco, where they weren't really getting any great reception from the attendees.

  • This song is ace.

  • ur ace

  • One of the best bands to see live. I love this song.

  • just beautiful!!!!

  • i hope billys new "pumpkins" album will have this kind of feel to it. honest heartfelt lyrics like he used to write 14-16 years ago!!!!!

  • Some of those lyrics remind me of how I feel about Billy Corgan. But this is a great song. ;) xD

  • possibly the best thing the smashing pumpkins have ever produced...heartfelt, stinging, and relevent.

    billy is a genius.

  • @mywillyisfood Where can I MP3 this song

  • @nicholsjoshua15 -- The best I can do on an MP3 are the live versions that were available as part of the VIP packages from the 20th Anniversary tour.

  • @mywillyisfood LLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL that gotta be a joke :D

  • This is my favorite residency song :) I missed this when it aired, thanks so much for posting.

  • ...i don't know what to think of the harmonica, but i'm sorta out on harmonicas in general...billy looked like he was really laboring during the harmonica part...i guess imo, not enough 'bang for buck'...also, anyone notice that 9 out of 10 times, the lead singer gets stuck playing the harmonica? you'd think the bassist or backup guitar-guy could help out...the guy's mouth is already busy....y'know?!

  • holy moly this is amazing. amazing performance of an amazing song.

  • i sure hope to see more of that harmonica man

  • Proof that Billy still has it.

  • There's more than enough proof of that.

  • lol @ harmonica
