  • your work is fantastic. I love dogs, all animals, you make them come alive. Well done. I would love to have just a smidge of that type of talent. When did you get into painting dogs, and horses. Did you learn this on your own or take some or any classes on this type of art?. Thanks again for your videos.

  • 8 people hate dogs.

  • Would it be possible to draw a Black And Tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, please?

  • This is absolutely amazing.... I mean, the detail and layers that you put into this is just incredible! It's crazy how well you transfer this real life picture (or is it like a still life?) onto paper is insane. The way you put light blue into the highlights, genius! I showed my mom and she couldn't even finish a sentence, and she is an amazing artist. I mean, just a fabulous job! Fabulous!

  • OMG! How the hell can someone draw like that?!?! O.O *thumps up*

  • Hi, I'm a 14 year old artist, and I absolutly LOVE oil pastels, so when I came across this, I loved it. I must say I love your art, and will be coming back to your videos, If you don't mind me asking, Do you use pastel pencils, or is that a knife with the crayon oil pastel on it?

I've been using the knife "technique" lately, because I have parents who don't want to go out and support me being an artist (they want me to play in sports)

Any tips you can give me will be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • @jakson149 I don't use oil pastels, and am not familiar with the knife technique you mentioned: this is just with straightforward dry pastel pencils, nothing fancy. If you're on a budget, try hard pastels (the square ones), same basic material, different presentation. If you're serious about being an artist, you need to know you're going to have to make it with very little support from anyone - sorry, it's harsh but true!

  • @portraUK Thank you for everything! ;)

  • @portraUK btw great skills and nice painting

  • @portraUK let me tell you this even though it dosent seem like it your parents are your biggest fans.

  • @portraUK @jakson149 the unfortunate truth, indeed.

  • @jakson149 You have to do what makes you happy, lil friend. No matter what anybody says. If you truly love it, and you work hard, and NEVER QUIT, you're going to make it. Good luck.

  • @jakson149 I am a 14 year old artist as well i did 20 piantings and 15 pensil drowings but i didnt do them on youtube :(

  • @jakson149 what is the price of this portrait pastel?

  • @jakson149 Your parents don't want to support you? Well, that's really sad!

I wish you luck in future!

P.S I really liked your vid, portraUK! Did you try to sell your painitngs?

  • @jakson149 if your parents dont want to help you perfect your talent, you shouldnt let that stop you from going to your dream! this is YOUR olympics, not theirs! go for it!

  • Do you think you could do a speedpaint of you doing the actual sketch? I'd love to see that <3

  • i never paint with pastel () () i should get one :P

  • it looks so real... amazing...Was that for sale?

  • are the pencils that you use the same as normal pastel? (im sorry fot the grammer)

  • WOW!!! amazing! :D

  • Holy Crap!!!!!! Amazing!!

  • omg... those eyes....

  • 6 people are weack

  • You're 9 kinds of awesome!

  • Amazing!, What kind of paper do you use??

  • sick

  • Good realistic painting.

  • This is amazing!!

  • One word......................SUPERB!!!

  • This is brilliant, i must get some pastels! I thought animal portraits like this were computer generated, it's really good to see it being done properly without the aid of photoshop :)

  • Ok for a second there I thought you were drawing on a real dog you are amazingling talented!!!!

  • You are amazing :)

  • @princessjuju1214 this is just speeded up video, shot on a canon ixus on time lapse and accellerated and repositioned with software

  • @portraUK man, i draw whatever i may want with pencil, but i suck at soft pastels (good on oil ones tho), are they difficult to master? do i need pencil shaped pastels or the square bars are enough to get a realistic painting? how do i become as good as you are... is there some technique that differs from pencil drawings except difumination (which looks like the clue to being a great pastel artist)? i'd like to know, cause the effect they give on a realistic painting comes second to nothing...

  • @alejandrothefader the square hard pastels are very good, or the pencils even better if you don't mind spending a bit more. Try out different papers, find one you like and practice lots! Go to workshops if you get the chance with good tutors. That's it really, there's no secret technique that I know about: it's just practice and experience. I don't even know what difumination is...! sounds painful! ;)

  • @alejandrothefader hahahaha nice, man ;) it's not, it's what you do to blend the colours in the paper ;) thank you for your advice, i will make sure to master pastels to :)

  • where did you learn how to draw like this? I want to learn! :)

  • may I ask what paper your using here?

  • I love it I'M AN ARTIST TOO YAY!

  • more views please

  • When you were going into detail with the nose I was thinking "Wait don't poke you're pencil up its no- oh wait a minute..."

  • I always think youre drawing on a real animal... o.0

  • im in an artschool and i must say that i really enjoy watching your portrait.

  • wath tools are you using? by the way AMAZING!

  • This is just ENORMOUS *w* Il love your art, this is so amazing ! <3

  • Damn you're good, how long did it take you to get to this level in your art? As in like...years n junk?

  • yay i got this picture with the app i made! it can take things and copy exactly into pictures yay

  • the 5 dislikes were probably jealous, so they went to make a snide comment, but couldnt find anythng wrong or bad about this drawing, so instead they just disliked it and called themselves victorious... 5 dislikes, u are all alone to 608 likes! Wait make that 609 :)

  • i kept forgetting it was a drawing. i thought you were poking a dog with a pencil.
