@edgeofsins Don't think it would take long, good 2-4 weeks to construct the face, and some high res skin textures. but that's some one that knows what he/she is doing, I'm starting to learn how to model a face and texture it at the moment. but it's going take months maybe a year or so to learn to get anything to this result.
This is pretty amazing but keep in mind that with today's technology this is impossible unless you're making a game about spinning a camera around a floating head. The poly count on the head must equal that of an entire game enviroment, so these graphics are achieveable but the entire processing power of the GPU works on that head and that head alone, even the background is a static image in this demo.
@FadeToBlack181 That's true, but it is possible to get a similar effect with realtime normal maps. It would just have to be a really high quality map. I think the biggest thing that makes games look game-y is the lighting.
@Scortech thats true but then actors gtfo man how slack would that be especially professional actors and celebs getting like so less money, too bad only use vfx designers know about zbrush and the conspiracy is going to get rid of all the actors
its a pretty low end demo by todays standards. It runs on my 9500GT quite fluid. That's what is possible on the fly with a low power GPU imagine what 3 9800 in SLI can do if you push them
The Matrix inside of the Matrix... Better yet, "the thirteenth floor". Great Model and texture... this has got to be the most realistic model that I've ever seen... heck, and I thought that the final fantasy characters looked real... you've raised the bar... good stuff.
i thought at first it was a joke, i thought it was your head that was until i read the description and it said you could get him on your comp, i thought it was real, and yes you should put animation in like him opening his eyes or talking, that would be amazing.
It's just the tech they used for the Matrix movies scaled down to be rendered by graphics cards. I'd say it's a photogrammetrically reconstructed head with accordingly remapped photo texure. They probably also reconstructed the skin BRDF from the photos and use fake subsurface scattering by 2D maps, like used in the Matrix movie CG models.
It's classic *ick waving, but nothing innovative here.
It's also some kind of light stage tech demo. The original work can be downloaded from the ICT Graphics Lab (USC institute for creative technologies) for free.
HOLY SHIT! Just to think.. Graphics advancing so much in the last few years.. Imagine what we are gonna be playing in the years to come! Amazing graphics and maybe virtual reality!!
Anyone know how to make a 3D face this detailed and how long it takes for one person?

the furure of zbrush, this might be bad for the future as we dont need actors anymore

Think how much the film companies could save from overpayed actors :-) hehe

I dont think the people who model this stuff are any cheaper than actors XD
AshuraTheHedgehogDX 2 years ago 3
@Scortech
they already do it by creating dummys for the background of their movies in 3D
but an 3D artist with autodesk or zbrush will never replace an actor and his full emotional expressions on screen :)
