  • What mics did you use, sir?

  • this for some reason reminds me alot of something the blue man group would do. it has the same kind of feel and sound in ways. and in other ways it doesnt. good job i love it!!

  • awesome way to play the piano. but im curious... is there a chance the strings could snap and cut you?

  • Good job. I do the same with a Boss loop and a bass guitar. I am inspired! I like the way you ended the selection!! volume fade out right

  • Good job. I do the same with a Boss loop and a bass guitar. I am inspired!

  • hope you get many supporter on kickstarter

  • DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE PIANO

  • Nice performance. No criticism intended, but this isn't prepared piano. Unless I am mistaken, the piano has not been altered, just played internally to accompany the laptop? Anyway, interesting no less.

  • @jlFr33zy005 - Indeed... The technique used is more akin to that which was originally used by Henry Cowell - he coined the term "string piano" - which involved playing the strings directly, muting them, strumming them, etc. - He is considered John Cage's 'mentor', of sorts. - I used the term "humanly prepared" to imply that instead of nuts and bolts and other items used to 'prepare' the piano, I am using 'human parts' to prepare it, thus, "humanly prepared".

Thanks for your kind comment. : )

  • There's nothing humane about putting you bare hands on piano strings. The oils from your hands will ruin the tone over time. In fact, John Cage's piano preparation is infinitely more humane, as you can alter the strings' tones without direct hand contact. Watch any professional pianist who gets inside the piano with his/her hands. He/She will almost always be wearing latex gloves.

  • wow im just looking into john cage and prepared piano pieces these are truely amazing

  • love this so much I wish I could do something similar, it would be neat if you did like online lessons. :p

  • rermarkable approach to piano preparation! Excellent. Appreaciate the sonority and tonality as well. Wonderfully pleasing to listen to. Fascinating to watch.

  • it look easy but its not :(

  • Palm-muted piano! That's BADASS, MAN! :D

  • WTF? )))) nice ))

  • This is so good! I'm also into experimental music. May I ask what program do you use to loop it with?

  • Unbelievable.... this is so amazing! Thank you for sharing your talent!!

  • Congrats, you made me weep bloody tears of joy.

  • wow! this was amazing and exactly what I was looking for! when I was younger my music teacher played us a halloween CD of someone strumming the strings of a piano and it gave me some ideas. So, I started strumming the strings while holding down the damper pedal in a few of my songs but I can't do much with it. I was always hoping to find a video of someone doing more with the inside of the piano to give me ideas.

  • You deserve more views. This is so amazing. First prepared piano video where i can hear melody.

  • Awesome music, and really impressive creation of it.

  • do you use a pic, or just a fingernail?

  • The answer is... Yes. : )

Depending on the situation, either a pick, or a handy fingernail will do. I think in that the videos on youtube, I actually used a US quarter... (nice rough edge for extra 'zing'... : )

  • Don't let your talent go to waste! One track from your Christmas CD is ready to burn. "If not now, When?"

    old Jewish proverb

FYI: I studied in CA with Cage's protege' Richard Bunger and he was as much a delightful genius as John. I know, I'm blessed.

  • yes....finally i found an interesting thing on youtube

  • beautifully...

  • You have sexy hands.

    Oh, spectacular performance, too.

  • awsome, nice job dad!!!!!

  • wow that's beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very inspiring indeed. Its great to take on the idea of prepared piano and turn into something of your own talent combining technology. Just a question, are you following the theory of chance music? What I mean by this is were the tracks pre-arranged or purely improvised when they were recorded?

  • Wow! I never seen anyone use a piano in this manner and I find completely revolutionary. It just goes to show that an instrument thats been around for hundreds of years (I think) can continue to amaze people such as myself.
