  • my god man you are amazing haha! i've been watching all of these piano man videos over and over again if you can tell :D

  • @Bananalisk That's fine, I'm glad you enjoy them. :-)

  • what did you play in the minute 3:19 to 3:25

  • @mafia850 That was the chord progression of F to C/E to D7 to G. It's the same progression that I used in the "main part" tutorial where the lyric said, "nine o'clock on a Saturday."

  • man, i really did not understand you :´(

you are to fast for me, and what happened with the caption??

i really enjoy your first tutorial

  • 0:46

Him: " Okay, how does that go?"

Me: I'm not really sure how it goes.

  • @runnervision61 Yes, sometimes I lose my place when slowing down the songs.. :-)

  • Amazing

  • thanks! i played this for my senior solo! /watch?v=rWKICdNhMDw

  • Did you play the beginning of Root Beer Rag at 1:05 ?

  • @Dideldum1981 It's actually the same as the verses. This song repeats quite a bit. I think I refer to it in the #4 video, which is still not loading or playing for some reason. Sorry about that. That's the second time it's happened to one of my Billy Joel tutorial videos.

  • Thanks for the tutorials. They are really good! Just one remark if you don't mind. I think the semi-arpeggio parts of the right hand during the chorus make it lose its waltzy feel and sound like a baroque church organ piece. A tad bit too ornamented IMO.

  • @nuvamusic Glad you liked it. The arpeggio style is meant to imitate the mandolin sound, but I know what you mean.

  • Good tutorial.

  • hi im enrique, thanks for this song, another songs do you have?

  • ahaa i couldn't help but laugh at the bit 3:00 "when you get to the bit i'm not really sure how it goes" lol if you didn't know the lyrics you would just be like wtf why is he showin a tutorial if he don't even know how it goes himself? :L haha made me crease up :D. It's a great tutoria btw i aint dissin it i just find that part funny :)

  • woah friggin awesome man thanx for this it's a godsend :L

  • You are a legend!

  • Sir - I a m wonder if you can provide a sheet music with it - it would be really helpful - thank you in advance - from Aust Down Under

  • I haven't had the sheets to this song for several years, but I do know that the Billy Joel Keyboard Book (Hal Leonard Publishing) has a great transcription of this song.. very accurate, from what I could tell.

  • thank you from NY! :D:D:D

  • I ve already read thanks from Brazil and Argentina so here is my personal thank you pianojohn113 from Germany...

Ima student with no spare money for piano lessons so you basically pave your way into heaven with these excellent tutorials :) ...or at least you can donate less at christmas lol

  • Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm always looking for inspiration for a new piece and this has been so much fun to play. A friend of mine plays professionally and said this is the most requested song in his lifetime.

  • thank you! I ve practice all the sunday afternoon. Im in argentina and Im 46.I havent practice so much time since i was a girl.

  • Hello! I m in argentina. Im 46 and I learnt piano when i was a baby. Years has passed and now Im traying to play this song. I ve passed all the sunday afternoon with your videos. I love youuuuuuuuu!!!!thank you very much (and sorry i don t speak english very well)

  • Hello, Mr. pianojohn113, thanks for your tutorials. I practiced several numbers from this. why don't you make upload of "Just the way you are" by Bill Joel. I couldn't fine this. Please!!!!!

  • thank you very much it´s a wonderful lesson

  • i ws wonderin whether as a little request you could perhaps either send or make a slightly more in depth tutorial as i still struggle with it :S plz? if u cn plz w/b

  • my god!! this tutorial is really good! :D as soon as i reach to my piano, i'll begin to practice over and over again.

    thank you so much, really!

  • Thanks! Enjoy it!

  • This is kinda a rude question, but... how old are you? You sound in your teens, but your hair is kinda gray.

  • I'm 44, which puts me directly in between the teen years and the gray-hair years. Must be the lighting on the videos!

  • Hey Very cool videos. I am bringing my keyboard in my room and starting to try and learn.

  • That's great.. tape a few songs and post them up!

  • Ha Ha I think I will need just a little more time. Maybe like 2-3 years of playing. Question. Do you have Eltons "Candle in the wind" in your teaching videos

  • Yes, it's been on the list for a while.. I'll try to get to it soon!

  • nice hair.

    nt

  • Wtf nice hair ?? LOLL!!!!!!

  • lol, never heard that one before!

  • Didn't work for me, i went to your second upload of that one

  • Did that one work ok? Sorry about that, YouTube hasn't been very helpful this time.

  • Yes that one worked fine

  • nvm ^^

  • Is it working now? Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't.

  • Great thank u. But i have one little problem, maybe it´s only me, but #4 doesn´t load ( the solo part ) :S

  • I have the same problem :s

  • Yes, many people have had that problem, so check my channel for the re-uploaded version of the same video, which seems to be working fine.

  • I notified YouTube about that problem, but in the meantime, until they fix it, I re-uploaded the video on my channel and that one should work fine.

  • these are the best piano tutorials on the internet thank you

  • Thanks very much!

  • thank you so much for these videos....i am truly grateful

  • No problem.. glad they're helpful!

  • I'm confused, is this a part of the song or an alternate way of playing a part???

  • It's kind of the way Billy Joel plays the second half of each verse, where it is sung an octave higher. The right hand moves up and plays some arpeggios and other broken chords. You don't have to play the part this way, but I think it's nice way to make it sound better.

  • excellent, can't beleive u learned to play all that my ear, thanx a million!

  • Glad you liked it, thanks!

  • Great!

  • that's awesome!! thanks!

  • Excellent, again !!! BRAVO !
