  • The entire Waves API Collection is outstanding - I know a lot of people hate on Waves due to their sometimes weird price politics but come on - we all know they have some very great programmed Plug Inns out there and the API Compressor and the ( for me ) World class 560 EQ are fantastic for multiple Mastering applications...

  • api all day!!

  • Very nice and quick EQ to work with. URS has a bit underdog algorithms under the "hood", but the results are not so much different. What others say - it could really use a Q control, at least wide/narrow one.

  • .. ..Like the Hardware Api 5500. With a manual control over the Width Range of the "Q" this Eq would be even more powerful. On the other hand, this Master Piece instead is "Intelligently" controlling the "Q". It gives you a wider range at lower frequencies & a narrower at higher frequencies.

  • Personally, I love the Waves Api Eq! I pretty much use it on every track channel whiles producing. From Synth's to Piano, and of course my Drums (Kick, Snare, Hats, Claps, etc, etc..) For the mixing process I prefer the Waves SSL Eq tough. But again, the Api Eq is a great tool whiles producing a track. It gives me on the spot a solution for my desires. Remember that this is an Parametric Eq not a Paragraphic. Only option that is missing (in my opinion) is a manual control for the "Q" curve.. ..

  • Hey SSL9000Down, dude I just want to personally tell you that what you're doing with the a/b of compressors & eq's are freaking awesome, instructional, & you've helped me save money, lots of it. So, don't pay attention to these ignoramus who come on your channel not having a clue as to what you're really accomplishing. These types of guys really kill me. And what's even funnier is there are MORE of those types of arrogant assholes who think they know all more so in the industry!!

  • So get this. I've been producing for a few yrs now (since the early 90's) so we're working on this Latin/European artist & at his request he likes using Sony mic. So we go to a pro audio shop & this young arrogant S-brain starts giving us his infinite wisdom about his mixing technique & credentials. I'm in S. Florida & w/a very known industry heavyweight in the dance scene; Little "Louie" Vega & we're getting ready to track @ my house & finish @ Criteria Studios aka The Hit Factory in N. Miami.

  • So S-brains is telling my boy; Little Lou how we shouldn't do this or that...& Lou's looks @ me & says, "Let's check him out." w/a smile. I'm like oh ok. Now mind you, we've been working in a multi-million $ studio, one of the best in the East coast & this retard says he knows how to get that sound that renowned engineers (he was delusional) cannot get. We end up in a rough looking neighborhood, mind you we're in a $100K Mercedes in "the hood." I grew up in the hood but I know better than to...

  • Bring toys around people who are hungry. Been there, done that. We get to his, ahem, what he calls a studio. Once in there this idiot tells us to sit & he leans into his pleather office chair as if he were a "Boss" & proceeds on giving us more unwarranted advice & even "teaching" us about mixing/recording/producing. S-brains then tries to convince us of his quality sound board...a freakin' Berhinger mixing board...a small 8 track or something!! Samson Resolv monitors & 25 key m audio!!! And this

  • S-brain, arrogant a-hole was seriously delusional, yet serious! Little Louie literally politely told the guy thank you but we have to go, & we left. I've had countless situations w/guys who have a computer & some radio shack speakers & all the sudden get this false arrogant air about themselves! I see this so often...I've been working for years making very good money & why? Because I'm humble & I maintain relationships w/people even if I dislike their attitude. If anyone can take something from

  • what happened a few months ago, please stay humble & true to yourself. In this business you're not as important as you think or feel you are. Everyone is replaceable, everyone trust me. This industry will eat you alive & shit you out clean & broke. Respect those who are in this with their hearts. This guy is nice enough to show us very expensive plug ins & how they sound & compete with one another. Respect his work & thank him. He's saving us all money by doing this.

    I appreciate you dude. One.

  • Waves baby. for those of us that ain't buying no damn hardware in the generation of 4GB of ram and icore processors. best EQ for electronic music in my opinion...REQeq for Vocals

  • URS = Uglier GUI but better sound.

  • URS = Uglier GUI but better sound.

  • i got the urs a and n series and was wondering how your urs plugin is the cut and boost under the frequency knobs and mine has two separate knobs for cut/boost and frequency.

  • To the untrained ear you might not notice the differance but if you sit close to your monitor at an equailateral postion in MY opinion waves has clearer high freq's BUT they are both well modeled software of hardware so yeah it will be hard to notice unless you are also changing the hardware sound cards. In this vid vid im sure he is only using ONE sound card and we dont even know what THAT sound card is. BOTH are great plug ins no doubt about it.

  • Hmm... that URS thing sounds great for sure. Identical to the waves one.

  • faster! there is too much time to hear comparision.

  • URS A EQ is by far the best VST EQ I ever worked with. I completely lost any interest in any other EQ plugin.

  • This is practically useless. I'd need to hear a couple bars of each plug, as opposed to a half second switching back and forth. Impossible to compare anything here.

  • @princeperry65 I agree. You also need to bypass both to hear the original. Also, you need the level to be exactly the same

  • @princeperry65

    Then do it better?!?

  • @princeperry65 incredible, but i can hear the difference...

  • Despite youtubes loss in fidelity. The boosts on the URS have more detail still intact. The cuts i felt were pretty even. Really can hear it in the ring of the snare

  • if you have a neve system and your ears are like a popo... nothing are "the best"... bad comparison...

  • Can't compare the highself when Waves plugin freq is set at 12 and the URS is at 9.

  • Waves SSL or API?

  • @jaimiecurrie api

  • theyre digital they all sound the fucking same anyway

  • @Sweetassour I think you do have a point ..Putting some nice artwork on the plugin wont make it sound any better..But I think the waves bundle is good and I think manufacturers are getting mighty close to fully emulating hardware..

  • That's a bad comparison... How can I analyze the results when you make changes after 3 secs... API => 3 seconds => Change some knobs => URS => 2 seconds => Api, URS, Api URS, Api URS...

  • The Waves

  • but youtube compresses everything even more than you can hear... thus making it really hard to do a true comparison.

    thank you!!

  • Comment removed

  • api wins... it just does, good vid though

  • API win ! :)

  • Nice, so just get the cheapest one then yeah? :)

  • To me the Waves is slightly cleaner and more "solid" if you can call it like that :)

Anyway very good video, well done.

  • Great work! Really nice to hear all of your comparisons! Do you have a video for Waves V-Series vs UAD Neve? Also what version of URS are you running that has the API GUI? thanks!

  • nice comparison between the both, I use this plugins a lot and like'm . thanks
