@cbr125rcanada It is actually a full size motorcycle with an automatic transmission. Since you can't pop the clutch and due to the weight of the bike wheelies aren't an option. :D
personally, i'd like to know if a DN-01 is a good bike to step up to after you crash your first bike (hahasoisoisoi). I was considering a Suzuki Burgman AN 400.
@haloman9595 Sure, the DN-01 is a pretty easy bike to ride. It is a bit heavy so that part takes some getting used to. The Burgman is a great choice as well. it just depends on what you prefer. :D
@RC62 what kind of milage does the DN-01 get? I'd like to know, because, i live in middle tennessee, and every year, my family takes a trip to texas to visit family, and I just want to know what the milage is as a comparison, because i do want an automatic that isn't too pricy.
@RC62 not bad, but the burgman would seem to get more milage. and, you know, 800 miles of almost completely open road (our family takes 64 to Holenwald, TN, and get on 65, and from there, the only big cities that you go through are Memphis, Little Rock, Texarcana, and, if we need to go this far, Dallas).
Hi RC62 thanks for the video. It helped me a lot in my decision. Last week I took delivery on a new Red DN 01. Its my first bike and I am really looking forward to getting more experience on it before the snowy season starts. Just wanted to say thank You.
@joehzar Thanks for watching the video. I really hope you love your DN01 as much as I do mine. If you are a new rider, please make sure to take the MSF course and get your motorcycle endorsement on your license. The DN01 is a great bike and is relatively easy to ride but it is a full size motorcycle and can easily get you hurt. :D
btw... I'd love to hear how you like it after you've owned it a while. Please let me know.
@krmusick Agreed... I used it as a joke for a subscriber who mentioned they liked the Electric Company show when they were young. Who knew this vid would get so many hits... I don't use intro's in my vids any longer.
Hello RC62. Thank you for sharing and doing this review. I am going to get a bike soon and i think im going to get this bike or a Burgman Exec version, reason being is im into scooter/cruiser type of a bike and your review helped me a lot. Thanks bud! have fun riding.
@johnballs Coolbeans! Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with the DN01 or the Bergman. Really depends on what you need and like better. :D
PS... Check out theSMYRNAcowboy's channel, he rides a Bergman named "Alf" and has it customized for comfort and convenience. He's a great guy to boot. :D
I thank you so much for the video!!! I stumbled across it on ebay....and I think it is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I had no idea it was an automatic. I like the cross between street and cruiser!
@SonnyGTA I have some (minor) issues with the way Honda tried to integrate sport / cruiser styling on the bike. You sit upright but have a sport windscreen so unless you are short you have to duck down to see the gauges. At least I did before I got an aftermarket windscreen. Overall the bike is great. It rides really sweet and any minor annoyances like the windscreen can be fixed with some aftermarket stuff. :D
Glad you liked the review. Thanks for watching and commenting.
My dad just bought a DN-01 and is wanting some saddlebags for it. What bags do you have on your bike? Will just about any brand fit it or did you have to find dn-01 specific bags?
@08Kana Actually due to the bikes design it is a little bit hard to fit with bags. I have a set of Cortech soft bags. They work OK and aren't too expensive. I think I paid around $129 for them if I remember right.
Honda makes OEM hard cases but they seem to only be available in Japan. Givi also makes some hard cases that fit the DN01 but they are a bit expensive and require a bit of work to install.
I hope your dad likes his DN01. Let me know if he (or you) have any questions.
@RC62 Yeah he loves it. It's so easy to drive and it rides like a dream. It also looks MUCH better in person than in photos or videos. Pretty damn cool looking IMO. Hard bags are just such a hassle. I'll probly just buy myself a set of soft bags, see if they work on his dn-01, and if they do he can get himself a set. Thanks for the help. Ride Safe!
Nice, sharp looking bike. The only thing i dont like about the bike is the price. Not alot of bike for the money.I looked at one at a bike show.Sharp, sharp looking bike.I ride a Katana and allways get hated on.Never really understood fellow riders hateing on bikes, unless it,s the Harleys, heheheee.I love all bikes and brands.I,m a firm beliver in Rideing my ride and to each his own.Ride safe ,
@inkmonster0u812 Yeah I agree it is priced very high for what it is. But Honda knew these wouldn't sell very well so they didn't make that many. Lower production combined with the new transmission is the main reason for the high cost. Still I don't regret getting the bike. It is very unique and is an enjoyable machine to ride. I do have pet peeves about the OEM windscreen but that is another matter. :D
@kitko33 The DN01 won't out accelerate a lighter sport bike but in general I agree, an automatic has an advantage from a dead stop... Just twist and go. :^)
@maishiranui33 I don’t think it is necessarily rednecks that have a problem with the DN01. There are a lot of people that just don’t think an automatic allows for as much control as a bike with a clutch. In some ways that is correct as you can’t slip the clutch to control speed in slow tight turns. You can compensate though by dragging the rear brake. Other folks just don’t like the styling. In any case, my view is to each his own. :^)
After seeing this vid some months ago I stopped by my local Honda dealer to check it out in person. Its a very cool bike. They had a demo DN-01 so I was able to take it for a ride, was impressed. Enjoy the ride!
@RC62 No didn't buy one. I liked it, but went crazy and sold my 1100 shadow and bought a 2010 vulcan voyager and have been having a hard time doing anything else but ride lol. Stay safe!
@RTiger18 Nope, it is a motorcycle with an automatic transmission. The engine is a 680 V-Twin, same as in the Trans-Alp. it has a full motorcycle frame and is not a scooter design.
I'm not surprised that a Ninja 500 will beat a DN01. Two different type bikes. The weight to power ration is much different.
I am thinking of buying this motorcycle. You said in your other movie that you ordered the magical racing windscreen from Japan. Do you remember what website you ordered it from?
@RC62 Thanks for the video review. Right now I am looking at the DN-01 and the NT700 and like both. Each have strong points and weak points One thing I can not find on Honda's website and the dealer I spoke to did not know is what is the fuel economy of the DN 01? Honda's website lists the NT700 as 52mpg, so I would assume it is close to that being they have the same engine. But with the HFT gearbox the DN-01 is probably lower. Have you checked your mileage on the DN 01?

I am conidering a DN-01 just because I am tired of the clutch lever. I'm getting old and the left hand objects to clutch resistance. Also like the combined brakes.
Give one a test ride and see how you like it. Let me know if you get one!
I was out riding with a friend and after a while he was complaining his left hand hurt. he looked over at me and said "I bet you don't have that problem do you?" LOL
The farthest I've gone on it yet has been around 60 miles. It rode comfortably for the most part. At 45 and over the wind gets to be a bit too much. My biggest gripe is the low windscreen. Eventually I'll get an after market one or if Honda ever brings more DN01 accessories to the US, maybe the touring screen they offer.
